Overview

About the property

Self-catering~3 bedrooms~18c renovated building~lovely light airy open plan flat

On your doorstep, beaches, restaurants, shops and galleries in the seaside village of Collioure. Our wonderful light and airy 3 bedroom apartment is situated at the top of an 18th century house in the old Mouré district, the most desirable area of Collioure. Being so close to the sea there is a lovely welcoming breeze that blows through the apartment. The interior areas were rebuilt, modernised and refurbished by its architect owner, but it still retains its quirky charm, including a brand new fitted kitchen and large open plan dining lounge area, with two wrought iron balconies one onto the main square and one onto Collioures pretty main beach. There is a new fully tiled bathroom, with separate WC. A small staircase leads to the rooftop terrace, dining here is a magical experience, with its amazing vista of Collioure, the bay and mountains. Watch all the activity on the sea, from windsurfing, to the beautiful sail boats that visit the bay. Not forgetting the amazing sunrise!

Extra information: Prud'Homie is in the older, historic part of Collioure and is mainly for pedestrians. Our apartment is just off the main square 'Place de 18 Juin' in the centre of the old town, in the desirable Mouré area. Many festival events and ceremonies are held in the 'Place' and the balconies and terrace make great observation spots. There is a 360 degree view of the town, sea and mountains from the terrace. It is furnished with a bench, tables and chairs for 6, deck chairs and lounging chairs, and mats to take to the beach. This classic 18th Century former merchant's house is close to all the activities, beaches, restaurants and local shops in the town. This unique area of Collioure only allows car access between 8am and 11am for loading and unloading in the summer months.

GUESTS COMMENTS: We had a fabulous time. The apartment was lovely, so fresh and clean. I loved the town and the view from the rooftop terrace! We explored the region and it’s wonderful vineyards. Walked to Port Vendre one day, over the mountain. Ate delicious oysters at the bar in the fish market. Great fun. S K & party - Virginia

Guestbook comments from the owner

Fantasticaprtment, very well equipped, in excellent location. Well worth the climb up all those stairs...especially gien the amount of food we have eaten this week. The view from the terrace is amazing and definitely the best feature of the apartment.

Loved Collioure and managed to do lots of exploring as well as a couple of lazy days on the beach at Port Vendre. the weather was great - got increasingly hotter as the week went on. Loving the breeze at night though.

Thanks for the cot and high chair too - our daughter loved crawing all over the flat. Thanks also for letting us stay and maing the whole booking process so easy. We hope to come back at some time.

Collioure - You Won't Want to Leave

  • 5 of 5

Hi Sheila---Thanks so much! As I noted in the guest book in the house, we only found one thing wrong, and that was the fact that we had to leave! Your place is incredible, superb, fantastic……words can’t describe how much we enjoyed every minute. We did have 2 rainy days, but on those days we explored the countryside including an ill-advised hike up to Peyrepertuse which we don't recommend on a rainy day! Your roof terrace is where we spent most of our time, and we loved it. The beds were cozy and everything was even better than described. We would love to come back again, and we adored Collioure.

First and foremost we loved the apartment. It just couldn’t have been better. It is always so much fun to be right in the center of town, participating in all the action. When they held the Good Friday march around town with the hoods and statues we first watched from above and then went down and joined in the experience. That is something you can’t do just anywhere. And as Kristi mentioned the roof deck was our favorite place to sip a glass of wine at the end of the day. But most importantly, thank you so much for providing us with the opportunity to live in Collioure for a week. It was just a dream come true! Many thanks for sharing your wonderful home with us.

Owner's Response: This epitomizes a holiday in Collioure completely! It’s wonderful when guests love the experience of staying at the apartment and being right in the centre of Collioure. We are delighted that Kristi & Dan had such a good time particularly as the weather in April is more varied.

We had a wonderful time in this superb apartment Prud'homie. Everything you need was available and alot of thought had been put in by the owners to make us feel welcome and make our stay so enjoyable. Lovely linen and towels. Kitchen well equipped and plenty of space for us all as a family of 5. Super view from the roof terrace which was very hot in the day and really great at night. Keep fit was included with the 64 steps to the front door! Lovely and clean and well maintained. A choice of 3 beaches within 5 minutes walk, lovely restaurants and atmosphere in the evenings. Small local super market well stocked and regular markets. Would highly recommended. Local contact for any problems. many thanks for a great apartment.

I can't fault this home from home.

This apartment is actually prettier than the photos. It has everything you could need and is really well laid out. It is an old property so the stairs are narrow and steep so may not be best suited to anyone with mobility/balance issues.

The place was immaculately presented, beds comfortable and the rooms are so pretty and well laid out.

Collioure itself is delightful

Fantastique!

  • 5 of 5

Our two-week stay in Collioure was fabulous and made extra special due to this charming apartment. Three of us had a bedroom each and all equally pretty and characterful. The rooms are bright and cheery with high ceilings and beautiful shuttered windows. We sat on the roof terrace to watch the sun rise and set, tea at breakfast and wine before going to bed, often just mesmerised by the sea and changing sky. Although tranquil some of the time, Collioure was heaving during our middle weekend, while crowds enjoyed the St Vincent festival. There was live music, dancing and fun until the early hours - we loved it!! Everyone was very friendly. The roof terrace of Prud Homie is perfect for escaping the crowds if wanted but still feel involved. The firework display was amazing and we had the best seats!! In all, we had the best of both worlds - a perfect escape. We swam at St Vincent Plage, walked to the windmill, visited the Chateau Royal, met artists living in Collioure, drank good wine, loved the ice cream, shopped for fresh bread and provisions every day - all easy walking distance. The train station is easy walking distance too - we travelled from the airport in Perpignan and also jumped on the train to Argeles sur Mer (gym) and Figueres (Dali theatre-museum). We played cards and enjoyed choosing books from the well stocked bookshelves. Great weather - hot with a breeze. Even enjoyed climbing three flights of stairs to the apartment - made us feel less guilty about eating all those croissants!!

Well-designed, well-equipped apartment in the heart of Collioure. Great views from the terrace & real convenience when it comes to dipping in & out of the town's delights. Beds/bedrooms were very comfortable. A lovely time had by all (end July/August). Thank you.

Collioure, a small beautiful picturesque former fishing village in French Catalonia, on the Cote Vermeille. Mountains, sea & sun, a remarkable wine growing area, everything you need for the perfect holiday. More hours of sun than any region in France. The colourful pedestrian streets are a maze of twists and turns as they step up from the seafront. Stroll amongst these discover the restaurants, galleries and shops selling local items. Sit and have an aperitif at one of the bars around the bay. Safe beaches on beautiful Mediterranean coastline. Lively twice weekly market. Local historical architecture including the impressive Chateau Royal, and medieval church that sits in the water. Collioure has been a mecca for artists for over a century made famous by artists such as Matisse, Derain and Picasso. Local diving school. Sea fishing. Sail around the Mediterranean on day excursions. Tour the Cathar castles, visit Carcassonne. Strong Catalan culture, festivals, dance, art and food.

Other Activities: A 27-hole championship golf course less than a 30 minute drive away in St. Cyprian.
