Freshly remodeled, this Farmhouse Rental is located just down the road from the Whittington House, right next to the largest oak tree in Blanco County. This house is large and spacious, with 1600 square feet to stretch your legs. The house is also very private and away from the busy streets. You'll feel right at home in the Hill Country, and quickly realize why this cozy little town is growing into an eclectic community!

Susan was prompt in her responses and made sure to let us know how the check in process works. She even dropped by the first evening to bring us some bikes so we could experience riding around the countryside which was really unexpected, but awesome! She made sure to be available and answered questions we had when we arrived and prior to that as well. There were some freshly baked scones awaiting us on our arrival which was a big hit and a very thoughtful gesture! Thank you! :) He neighborhood is quiet and just as described. Lots of greenery and ranch animals and the occasional deer or wild turkey. The kids had a great time! Overall a very pleasant experience and I'd recommend it to anybody who wants to get away from the city life for a bit, Thank you guys for making us feel at home

House is great, administration could improve

The house is great, spacious and the backyard is great fun. The "4th bedroom" is outside the door of the master and is a rolling twin bed with trundle underneath (for reference since it isn't described in the instructions). The kuerig is missing the needle to stab the cups but I'm sure the pot probably worked.

Where improvements could be made:

1 - Arrival. In order to check-in you must call to get the electronic key code for the door. This should just be included in the check-in instructions, or auto-emailed at 4pm on check-in day. For me, I called over the course of 2 hrs before she picked up. The alternate number was not affiliated with the property.

2 - Damage Deposit. This is $1500 and they actually charge your account for it (instead of placing it as a "hold" on your card). This is charged long before your arrival so you will have to pay for it b/c it's longer than your 30 day credit card cycle. Additionally, I still haven't been refunded and it's been 16 days since we stayed (longer than the auto-refund period of 14 days).

I'd happily give this property 5 stars if these 2 items are addressed.

Amazing time!!

I don’t understand how anyone could give this place a bad review! I think James A must be mistaken about this property. It was so peaceful and the house was set up perfectly. A billionaire owns property down the way and has exotic animals on it which my family was able to see. The owner was super nice- fed the deer in the afternoon, showed us where dinosaur tracks were and set up the fire ring in the back. I have never been a huge fan of Texas but going through Austin/Johnson city / Fredericksburg/San Antonio and staying at this property I have changed my mind! I wish we had longer to stay. Thanks for everything!

This place is great if you want to reenact a scene from Deliverance. It lacks charm and the proper amenities of a good vacation rental. I'll pass next time :(

The property was very nice!

There was a lot of space, the beds were comfy, it was a really awesome rental and I would highly recommend it to anyone! The only thing That would have been nicer is a few more towels, cooking pans, and if the shower head were tightened up in the main bathroom. Again though, I would rent it again in a heartbeat-- my whole family loved it!

Great Hill Country Escape

We met up with family from across Texas at this great little guest house close to Johnson City. It is on one of my favorite roads in the Hill Country (Miller Creek Loop) and is right across from the lovely Miller Creek. The family is very welcoming, but live down the road, so you don't feel like you're staying on someone's property. The house is well-equipped with nice decor on the inside. We comfortably slept 9 people in the house and never felt cramped at meals or indoors at all, although to be honest, we spent most of our time outdoors. If you are looking for something affordable in a lovely remote-ish setting, but still close to tasty restaurants and lovely small towns (Johnson City in one direction and Blanco in the other), this is a great place. It is not luxury, but we're not luxury folks, so it was perfect for us. While it isn't luxury, it is very tastefully decorated with lots of nice little touches.

Oh! Watch for the cliff swallows which have made a nest under the front porch awning - our whole family got a kick out of watching them. Lots of other wildlife in the area as well.

Our family had a lovely time and we'll definitely be back. Thanks for sharing your lovely home with us for the weekend.
