About Rupert Wiles
Following my early retirement in 1999, I have been living in Chiswick ( West London) but spend a few months every year in Australia and New Zealand where I have close family connections. I am also fortunate enough to have a family cottage in the Cotswolds where I spend most weekends. I come to France and the villa with members of my family several times in the year but principally in the Spring and late Summer
Rupert Wiles purchased this Villa in 2009
Why Rupert Wiles chose Saint-Siffret
I loved the location of this villa the moment I saw it. It is situated on top of a hill with attractive views of the surrounding countryside around the quaint village of St Siffret. It is quiet and private. The garden with its beautiful olive trees and oleanders together with the pool are both the right size to manage. I was also very much attracted to the crazy paving that surrounds the property. The distribution and size of the rooms within the villa provide a great sense of space.
What makes this Villa unique
The property is enclosed by a high wall which provides excellent security. The villa is positioned equally between the Zone Commerciale to the west of Uzes and the centre of Uzes itself. So you have a great choice of destination with little traffic to contend with.

Wonderful stay for 2 families with children aged 8 to 14
We really enjoyed our visit to St. Siffret. The pool at the property is lovely and our kids had a great time swimming. The property is very close to Pont de Gard and Uzès. We visited both places twice. My husband had an amazing time riding his bike around the small villages. The property is in a great location.
Magic French Retreat
Following a 30 hour journey from Melbourne we were greeted to a beautiful villa with heated pool and all mod cons required of tired travelers. The property is well maintained with a helpful management team to answer your questions and give advice, even down to providing some much needed snacks on arrival. The house will easily accommodate 3 couples and is very private and secure. A high wall surrounds it with lockable gates, not that we saw any undesirables in the area.
St Siffret is a delightful rustic French village with a café bar and other eateries nearby. Good shopping for provisions is within 10 mins drive as is the much larger settlement of Uzés, which hosts markets and many fine restaurants.
There is plenty to do in the area within an hour’s drive, whether that be visiting the hill top town of Lussan for lunch, going down limestone caves (which abound), or crossing the highest of roman aqueducts at Pont du Gard. Avignon and Nimes are both in striking distance and well worth a visit.
In our 2 weeks we only scratched the surface and we plan to return.
Loved the villa, loved the area, loved France!
Fabulous stay in St Siffret
We had a wonderful week staying in Les Olivettes. The property is spacious, clean and has all the facilities you would need. The heated swimming pool was great for the kids and the gardens are beautiful. The house is located a 5 min walk from the local 'epicerie', where you can buy fresh bread and croissants each morning, as well as plenty of other staples. It is also only a short walk into the centre of St Siffret village where this is a very nice bar and a restaurant. There is a large Carrefour supermarket less than 10 min drive and just beyond that is the charming old town of Uzes.
Less than 20 minute drive is the famous Pont du Gard (definitely worth a trip - and remember to bring your swimming things for a dip in the river and some great rock jumps).
All told, a thoroughly relaxing week at a fantastic property in a great location.
A lovely clean and quiet cottage for a relaxing break, lovely location and a hassle free booking process. Would definitely recommend
Ideal base for exploring the beautiful region
We've just returned from a wonderful stay at Les Olivettes. Having never been to this region of France before, the house provided an ideal base for our exploring. It's brilliantly located for a huge number of nearby attractions (Uzes, Nimes, Pont Du Gard, Les Baux to name just a few) and we were never lacking things to do or places to visit during our ten day stay.
The house itself was much more spacious than the photos would suggest. Living areas are more than ample and the house is lovely and cool despite not having A/C (trust me, we were there in 40+ degrees c!!!). The pool, though small, provided welcome relief from the heat every day and we managed to find shady spots under the gorgeous mulberry tree and beneath the various parasols available. There was even a paddling pool for the children, which was fab.
A special mention must go to the ladies from Keysitting, who manage the property day to day on the owner's behalf. They were super-responsive and really helpful in terms of tips during our stay. A plumbing issue was dealt with very quickly indeed and they were very friendly too.
The perfect holiday home!
We had a fantastic week in Les Olivettes.
It's in a lovely part of France and we had a fantastic week exploring the area.
The weather was great and we spent a lot of time around the pool. The house is very well equipped and it feels like home away from home. Great food, wine and relaxation, just what we needed from our holiday.
I highly recommend this property.
St Siffret is a quiet and charming ancient village with its own supermarket and two quality restaurants nearby. From the village you can enjoy lovely views of the surrounding hills. Our villa is situated on a hill above the village and only 4 kms from Uzes, a renowned medieval town with a population of around 8,300. The town hosts one of the most colourful markets in the South of France and offers charming streets, cafes, restaurants and two museums to delight children of all ages. It is situated about 15 miles from Nimes and 20 miles from Avignon. The attractive town of Montpellier with its open and pedestrianised shopping centre is a mere hour's drive away.
There is plenty to see and do in the area including the magnificent Pont du Gard, the Roman amphitheatres of Nimes and Arles, the Palace of the Popes at Avignon and the fortified town of Aigues Mortes and the region of the Camargues. The river Gardon and the Gorges de L'Ardeche offer good swimming and canoeing. Cycles can be hired in nearby St Quentin La Poterie so as to explore the multitude of attractive villages in the area; and there are also walking and horse riding facilities
