Photos and Description of this 3 bedroom holiday cottage in Whitstable - Fisherman's Return

3 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, Sleeps 5

Fisherman's Return on Woodlawn Street is a terraced fisherman’s cottage in the Kent coastal town of Canterbury Whitstable.

Spread over three floors the cottage sleeps up to six people: two double bedrooms and a third with bunk beds (full size).

The bathroom is on the ground floor.

Also in the cottage are a fitted kitchen and a dining area open plan to the sitting room with a woodburning stove and a door out to the garden which has a grassy lawn and a large wooden table which seats 6. There is a piano, which is tuned annually, on the ground floor. You are welcome to bring your laptop as there is also free wi-fi available.

A short stroll from the harbour (where you can buy fresh fish, daily), the beach, and the boutique shops of Harbour St, Fisherman's Return is a superb traditional cottage in a fabulous coastal town.

The south-facing sunny garden also has a winter flowering cherry tree, which can provide some shade if required, and swings and a slide for children.

Fisherman's Return is a very bright, easy to manage house, within minutes of the beach and the shops.

There are two doors out to the garden, one from the kitchen and one from the living room.

The garden is fully enclosed, and has a back gate. It also has two swings, a slide, a wooden bench and a table which can seat 6 people. It is southfacing so benefits from the full day's sun. It has a tree which can provide shade if required.

The house has WI-FI Internet access and a DISHWASHER.

The house is in easy walking distance to Whitstable train station, if you wish to visit London for a day trip (1hr 25mins), this is a fantastic location! Canterbury is also a great city to visit by bus (from Harbour St).

Great family house and writers retreat!

  • 5 of 5

The cottage is absolutely lovely very spacious! It's cosy, warm and comfortable and has everything you need. I stayed here with my two boys aged 15 and 11 and they loved it too! There's a piano, easy for them to go out in the town, great internet access which was great because I had to work whilst I was here. It's a quiet and peaceful place to write. Everything has been very carefully thought through to make sure your stay is easy and enjoyable. The owners are lovely and very friendly. The cottage is very central - a minute away from the beach and harbour and with great shops and restaurants just around the corner. Couldn't have hoped for better! Thank you!

Stayed here as part of a Golf weekend . The cottage was perfect in every way . Clean , comfortable and with everything you could possibly need.

The cottage is in a central location , a two minute walk from the High Street . Great for staggering home from an evening out in one of Whitstable's many fabulous pubs , bars and restaurants.

Angela was very friendly and helpful throughout the booking and stay. First class ! See you in 2015..... Thoroughly recommended.

This cottage is a real find, exactly at listed.

  • 5 of 5

Very close to the beach, harbour and great shops on the high street, an excellent position. The property is clean, cosy but spacious and well equipped with all we needed for our stay.

We had a great time with our young son pottering at the beach with a 2 minute stroll back for lunch in the garden!

The owners were a pleasure to deal with.

I thoroughly recommend this cottage and would like to book it again.

Lovely stay - lovely cottage!

  • 5 of 5

Thank you very much for a lovely stay. We are off tomorrow and really enjoyed the cottage and Whitstable too. The beach is lovely - our boys spent hours crabbing when the sun came out. The swings in the garden were a great hit too.

We ate some delicious food, drank lovely wine and enjoyed shopping in all the little shops. We will definitely be back!

Fisherman's Return is 2 minutes walk from the harbour, 2 minutes walk from the beach and 2 minutes walk from the quaint shopping of Harbour Street (not a single chain store to be found).

This traditional fistherman's cottage (now altered to have a bright and spacious third floor) is located in the heart of the Whitstable Conservation Area. Whitstable (under 7 miles from Canterbury) is a delightful seaside resort, famous for its oysters, art, harbour, pebble beach, restaurants, bijou shopping and sunsets.

Cars can be parked on the street outside free of charge, space permitting.

Bicycles can be hired at the bottom of the road and you can ride to Canterbury along the Crab and Winkle Way, through Blean Wood, on purpose built cycle paths.

A gastronomist's delight there is fresh fish at the harbour 7 days a week, fresh local veg at 4 greengrocers, fresh bread from the baker, locally produced meat from the butcher.

You can easily reach Fishermans Return by walking from the train station with links to London Victoria or London Saint Pancras, or by car from Dover or anywhere in England.

As the stairs are steep and the bathroom is on the ground floor, Fisherman's Return is not suitable for the elderly or infirm, except the physically able! Sunny south-facing garden keeps you sheltered on days when the wind on the beach is a bit strong, and the winter flowering cherry blossom tree provides a bit of shade from sweltering sunny days (such as we have in the microclimate of Whitstable).
