About the property

1,590 s.f. 3/1 bd/ba, lodge themed Cabin at 6,600+ elev. & acres of tall pines

Book for the fall, it is beautiful up here in the mountains and cool!

Tired of stucco and asphalt? This three bedroom cabin has everything you need to get away from the valley's summer heat and listen to the breeze through the treetops while sipping on something cold on the expansive deck! Just 9 miles out of Prescott to the tranquil high pines away from all the noise and tiny spaces on tiny lots in the city.

The Cabin is tastefully decorated in a vintage lodge theme with fishing and mining artifacts and accents. All the comforts of home that will make your stay fun and enjoyable. 52" LCD TV on the main floor with unlimited wifi, VOIP phone, cell signal amplifier and cell chargers along with DirectTV, Netflix streaming, DVD movies.

The large deck is great to star-gaze with your favorite beverage while waiting for the Milky Way to appear over the silhouette of the treetops. During the daytime, enjoy the views of the acreage and family fun time as the clouds go rolling by. The property and area is great for hiking and exploring. You will find remnants of old mining operations of the area, some even on our property along the seasonal creek. There is plenty of flat area also with a small apple orchard, horse shoe pit and a lot of quiet in our private forest in the Bradshaw Mountains.

Comforts and conveniences for our guests also include; two BBQ's (one on either side of the cabin), bottled water, all new linens (flannel sheets in the winter), paper products, basic condiments, spices, seasonings and all the small appliances you may need, including the blender and corkscrews for those evenings back out on the deck.

For the cooler months, vintage wood stoves at both levels of the cabin and flannel sheets will keep you toasty warm and add to the ambiance of the cabin. Split wood is ample and space heaters are provided for each bedroom too.

About Lani & Greg Stava

We love the outdoors and traveling. We purchased this cabin 12 years ago for a quick get-away from the valley and to enjoy the four seasons of the Bradshaw Mountains and the charming town of Prescott.

Lani & Greg Stava purchased this cabin in 2006

Why Lani & Greg Stava chose Prescott

Secluded, high mountain cabin with acreage yet close to Prescott. We wanted a rustic cabin in the pines that was not too far from our home in the north Phoenix and a place with history, character and where you could get away from it all, or not.

The cabin sits on almost two acres, it’s 6,682 foot elevation is sometimes 10 degrees cooler than Prescott and usually 20 degrees cooler than Phoenix. It is a 3 bedroom, 3/4 bath with a large deck on the back of the cabin with fabulous views. We have apple trees on the property with fruit usually ready to be pulled in the fall. A seasonal creek at the bottom of the property carries runoff from the top of Spruce Mountain to Lynx Creek and Lynx Lake after the summer rains or with the snow melt. This is truly a charming piece of property we know you will enjoy.

What makes this cabin unique

Serene and secluded... Relax on the deck as you look out over the treetops and down into the valley that seems to always carry a breeze into the property. Two large flat areas on almost two acres of land surrounds our mini apple orchard and is full of iris and delicate forest plants. The towering pines provide a welcomed shade in this second sitting area, two hammocks are nearby for a quick nap or just staring off into the blue skies and lazy rolling clouds.

Recently renovated with new flooring, cabinets and bath on the main floor, decorated to look and feel more like a rustic lodge. Decorations include vintage original oil paintings, mining items, fly fishing rods/reels and an assortment of other treasures from days gone by and collected from here and there to create a more rustic feel to the place.

Look for deer, javelina, an occasional skunk and coyotes. Although more difficult to spot, there are lynx, raccoons, turkeys and occasional black bear sightings the area.

Beautiful and comfortable

  • 5 of 5

The rustic cabin has all the amenities of home plus extra.

The cabin itself is well maintained and equipped with everything needed.

We had a party of four, my wife father mother and myself. Ranging in ages from 80 to 54.

We were all able to get around without issue and relax inside / outside on the deck or the sitting areas under the trees.

The deer came to visit in the mornings and were beautiful.

I would definitely recommend this cabin to anyone of any age.

What a gem!

  • 5 of 5

As soon as I arrived at the cabin, I could feel all stress melt away and be replaced with peace and happiness. Surrounded by quiet and nature, Mary May Inn itself is absolutely delightful. It is very clean, and decorated in a tastefully fun way that also provides all the comforts of home. Although I didn't officially use the writers desk, I loved that it was there, as writing was one of my goals. Just so many special touches. I definitely felt very welcome, as did my two dogs, who had ear to ear grins and wagging tails.

Even after reading the previous reviews stating the same, I was still beyond impressed at all the essentials and comforts that were provided. And the exhaustive list of "What" and "Where" was super helpful, and made it easy to settle right in. The Stava's are responsive and amazing hosts, and it is very generous of them to share this gem!

I had a mixture of sunny and very stormy weather during my stay, which was a bonus to me, as I was able to explore but also "forced" to stay in and enjoy the other simple pleasures I was looking forward to. The rain had the creek running, and I got to view a rainbow thru the trees. The thunder and lightening up there can sure get your adrenaline flowing! As did the last part of the drive up, as I always felt like I was lost for a split second before seeing the Mary May street sign, even after a few trips. I think that it made me feel that much more away from it all, even though you really are so close to so many good things.

With my favorite stores at the bottom of Walker Road, and driving past Lynx Lake and many interesting trails on the way to the cabin, it is such a wonderful location. I also went kayaking on Watson Lake, which I loved, I think it was maybe a 30 minute drive. Peacefully remote, yet close to so much.

Perhaps the most spot on compliment I can give is to say that despite all the other guests that stay here, it truly felt like home. I can't wait to go back!

Owner's Response: Wow Pat, your review was very thoughtful and appreciated! You did get some spectacular storms, my favorite as you are so high in elevation at the cabin that is seems you are right in the middle of it. The seasonal creek through the property is a really special feature, you can hear the water tumbling from the deck. Hope to be your host again soon and again, thank for your stay and special review. Beautiful, spacious cabin with great views of the pines

  • 5 of 5

Greg made sure we had everything we needed, and helped us more than once to navigate the great TV and sound system. The cabin was well stocked with everything you could possibly need, and was perfect for relaxing, or watching anything on the large TV. The back porch area is large, with fantastic views of the pine trees. We were all very impressed with the Mary May Inn!

cute clean cabin

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this spacious cabin. This cabin is so cute, very clean and such a great location. We have rented many cabins and found the pots and pans were not usable so I started bringing my own. The dishes and pots and pans were very nice AND usable. We brought our 2 year old grandson who loves the outdoors. We saw deer bedded down out back and lots of squirrels. Spent time at Lynx Lake which we love.

We are looking forward to renting this cabin again in the near future!

Owner's Response: Thank you Mark, I think we have had such great guests, the deer have become very comfortable and just continue to graze, sometimes just 20 feet away, really a treat. Thank you for your stay and review-Greg & Lani.

Family Friendly Paradise just minutes from city convenience

  • 5 of 5

We were looking for a quiet retreat near Prescott while our teens went to camp at Embry-Riddle for the week, and a little add-on family time for the 4 of us afterwards. Comfy and well appointed - we enjoyed the deer, birds, squirrels and other wildlife while relaxing on the deck and grilling up supper. Good wifi so we could surf or read. Convenient to shops and downtown all within about 15-20 min so we could cruise into town for art walk or entertainment at the local pub. Less than an hour to Sedona and Jerome for a fun day trip. A little bit further for Flagstaff. The teens enjoyed having their own space (especially the basement walk-out bedroom), cruising the yard for neat rocks, and watching the deer. Lots to do with kids within 20 min - kayaking at Lynx lake, skywatching, shopping on the town square, watching antelope just north of Prescott, and even gold panning at Lynx creek. Truly home away from home and a wonderful base camp for exploring north central Arizona.

Location

Nearest Restaurant
7 Miles
Lynx Lake Cafe
Car: necessary

This property is located approximately 10 miles south from the intersection of Highway 69 and Walker Road. Walker Road is a paved two lane road for about 9 miles. The last mile to the cabin is a dirt road (but county maintained), that is easily driven by car. If you consider renting during the snow season or muddy "thaw" (December -March having a vehicle with 4WD is strongly recommended as well as VRBO trip cancellation insurance.

Many of the restaurants and entertainment venues are only 15 to 20 miles from the cabin, a quick trip for something forgotten or sight seeing.

There are six lakes are between 8 and 20 miles from your stay (Watson, Willow, Granite Basin, Goldwater, Lynx and Fain Lake), for licensed fishing, boating/kayaking, and some of the lakes have boat rentals available. Fishing and miles of hiking trails are at your backdoor. There are plenty of things to do in and around Prescott!
