bright, quirky 2 bed with roof terrace in an amazing location!
We are a family wth 3 kids who now live in nearby Cambridge. This was our home for 10 years. We visit whenever we can to relive the days of our youth. Our kids love their second home in central London.
Ruth purchased this House in 2003
Why Ruth chose London Borough of Southwark
We bought this property for the roof terrace and it's bright and quirky style. We love being near the railway arches. It feels very urban which we love. If you are going to be in London you may as well be IN LONDON!
What makes this House unique
The location is the biggest advantage of this property. There is so much that you will want to see and do in London that is within walking distance. The immediate neighbourhood is very cool. Borough Market, Flatiron Square, Tate Modern, the South Bank. Gordon Ramsay's Union Cafe (interior is pictured) is directly across the street.
Not ideal for young toddlers as open plan stairs.
Please do not touch the boiler settings or switch off boiler. Heating is operated by thermostat in kitchen wall. No need to touch boiler.
Please do not remove usb adaptors or US/EU/Uk plug adaptors from property

GREAT ACCOMMODATION IN AN EXCELLENT POSITION
We have just returned from a long weekend staying in this super little house right in the middle of London. Although the decor is a tad tired and would benefit from a refresh the position of the accommodation is perfect for anyone wishing to walk to a whole host of attractions in the centre of the city. Waterloo station is a few minutes walk, as is the Imperial War Museum and Tate Modern. London Bridge, Tower Bridge, the Tower of London, Trafalgar Square, Whitehall, Westminster, The London Eye, The Mall, The Strand, The national Gallery, etc, etc; they are all well within walking distance. The house is right in the heart of Southwark, with its busy street life. The atmosphere is excellent and, to cap it all, there is a superb cafe around the back called "Over the Road" that does a brilliant breakfast! The accommodation is great, providing comfortable sleeping for 6, a well equipped kitchen, with microwave, conventional oven, kettle, dishwasher and washing machine, cutlery and crockery etc and there are plenty of books and board games if that's your bag, not to mention a large TV. Wifi is fast and the bathroom comes well equipped. Access to the building was very easy and communications with the owner were prompt and clear. The heating for both the accommodation and water was easy to control and the house was very cosy and comfortable at night time. Due to the time of year (December) we didn't make use of the roof terrace except to have a quick look but what an excellent place to enjoy a G&T on a warm evening; far removed from the hustle and bustle of the streets below. We had a great time and will most definitely stay there again if it's available the next time we are staying in London for a few days. I recommend it most highly.
Charming apartment in a great central location.
Excellent place to stay and awesome communication from the host. Will stay there again if the opportunity presents itself.
Great location. Fabulous amenities (washer & dryer!). Ruth was so easy to contact. Quiet, restful sleep.
Great location for touring the city
Easy to connect with Ruth to feel confident in booking. Would recommend stay. Stairs are required so be aware if there are any concerns.
Family Holiday In London
We thought the property met expectations, it does need a refresh at some point, the washer was not operating which was an economic inconvenience as we had to take our laundry to have it done.
There was a fault with our brand new washing machine which has now been remedied. I’m
very sorry that it co-incided with your stay. Thank you for the feedback! Ruth
Great location for sightseeing
Right in the heart of a thriving area, this flat is perfect for the sightseeing tourist who doesn’t mind the bustle, noise and smells of the city. I don’t, and we enjoyed our stay. The main living area is open plan and gets lots of light. The lower bathroom has a musty smell which is typical of windowless spaces, and could do with some minor maintenance. We had a lot of trouble trying to turn off the bath tap, which we were forced to leave slightly ‘on’ after trying everything we could. Again, this is a minor quibble in an otherwise good experience, but hopefully will be taken care of by the host. I wouldn’t describe it as luxurious, but if convenience, location and value for money are your primary goals, this flat is perfect.
his is a wonderful lively neighbourhood, right near the river and all the culture. There are food markets, shops, restaurants, art galleries and museums only a very short walk away. We love Southwark and this is right in the middle! Our Apartment is in Zone 1 in Central London. On your doorstep you can WALK to: Tate Modern - 3 minute River Thames - 3 minutes Globe Theatre - 5 minutes Millennium Bridge - 5 minutes St Paul's Cathedral - 15 minutes Borough Market - 10 minutes The Shard - 10 mins London Bridge - 10 minutes London Eye - 20 minutes Houses of Parliament - 25 minutes Tower Bridge - 25 minutes AMENITIES (walking) Supermarket - 1 minute Bars - 1 minute Restaurants - 1 minute Cafes - 1 minute Children's playground (Nelsons Square) - 2 minutes
Use the app Citymapper! London Underground (walking) Southwark Tube - 2 minutes Waterloo - 10 minutes London Bridge - 10 minutes BUSES! Buses are great! We highly recommend the RV1, which goes from outside the front door. One way goes to London Eye, Houses of Parliament, and Covent Garden, the other way goes to Borough Market, London Bridge, Tower Bridge and Tower of London. It's a cheap bus too! You'll need an Oyster card to travel around London, or a credit or debit card with contactless payment. Or maybe even mobile phone payments. Either way, buses don't take cash anymore.
