We have a children’s play area, secure outside heated pool, large BBQ facility and laundry room. Take a break from cooking and enjoy the family friendly inn, The Pig on the Hill, where you can unwind at the end of the day with a good meal and award winning local Ale.

'We had a great time and the kids loved it. We will be booking again next year and i will recomend you to my friends and all the mums at the school!' RB
We had a great time at Pusehill Farm!!! Getting there was really easy using the description provided by the owner, in fact - this was the first time we found a holiday home without any arguments in the car :)
The cottage itself is well-equipped and makes you feel welcome. The kitchen and the living room were pretty small for four persons but with only two of them being adults we managed. We also had pretty decent weather so didn't have to spend too much time indoors.
You can walk to Westward Ho! uphill and down again, this was manageable and a nice walk for us and our two kids (aged 3 and 5), might be a problem for smaller children. The view from uphill is spectacular!
It's of course possible to drive to Westward Ho! but can be a challenge due to single lane roads in this area. There is a Tesco Express in Westward Ho! that is also open late on Saturday.
The coin-operated washing maschine / tumble dryer helped a lot during our stay as we always had some wet towels and some stuff from the kids that needed cleaning/drying.
The children loved the communal garden area and the playground including the animals (pigs, geese, guinea fowl, chicken, goats and a cat).
The pub around the corner has a huge playground lots of space for kids to run around - which they did.
Overall - we didn't really miss anything and would recommend this place.
We had a fantastic week in Elm Cottage! The cottage itself was pretty, well equipped and the gardens were gorgeous. The play area was a lovely place for the children to play, and very secure - could see them from our kitchen window! The animals were fab too, not often you look out of your window to see a pig or a goat just grazing on the grass! We made good use of the pool too - most days the children children were in there, and there were plenty of chairs and loungers for us to take in the rays while the children splashed around. It was a truly fantastic holiday, plenty to do and see, and a beautiful cottage to stay in.
The cottage is lovely and everything in it very high spec. We stayed as a family with two children (13 and 11) and it was a good size without being spacious. It is in a great location and we traveled the whole county from there easily. We used the swimming pool every day (in spite of it not being the best weather) - it was heated but it could have been a bit warmer (but the weather was cold). The layout of the whole property, gardens, play area and pool is spacious and very well maintained. The cottage has good modern appliances without losing its nice rustic feel. There is wifi but we found the service to be intermittent at best (typical for BT in a rural area!) - this probably won't bother anyone but teenagers these days are glued to their phones so the moans got loader as the week went on! All in all though we found this to be a very comfortable and good quality property and would most certainly recommend to future guests.
We stayed 10 nights in this cottage and had a lovely time. The cottage is very well equipped, and in an ideal, quiet location to sightsee Devon and Cornwall. It was very clean and cozy with a lovely nautical theme throughout. We stayed as a couple, but it is suitable for a young family as there is a play area and good sized swimming pool. I'm sure children would love the animals. The weather wasn't brilliant during our stay, so we didn't use the pool. On the morning we did try to sit around the pool area, there were no loungers available, despite a very helpful gentleman looking high and low for them. There were only chairs, which were a bit uncomfortable and that is the only negative we could comment on. Access to the property is along a narrow road, which takes some getting used to when you encounter traffic coming the other way. We found it easier to use the road down to the property from Westward Ho!
Great holiday in a well-cared for and very comfortable cottage.
It was lovely to be surrounded by all the farm animals. We had young children and it was still easy to use the cottage, very stress free.
The property was very clean, well appointed and included many resources and much information. For us this was an opportunity to visit family over the Christmas period so was not a holiday as such, but the cottage is well located for walking and visiting nearby resorts such as Westward Ho! and Instow,
and is next door to The Pig on the Hill, with good food and convenience. It made for a very comfortable and relaxing break for us.
Elm Cottage is ideally suited for a relaxing family holiday. It is on West Pusehill Farm in the small hamlet of Pusehill where the facilities are shared with 9 other cottages. The cottage is over 150 years old and is set around a beautiful garden. The Blue Flag beach at Westward Ho! is within walking distance (3/4 of a mile). The cottage is an ideal location for a beach or country holiday. Whether you are looking for a relaxing break by the sea or a more adventurous holiday, our cottage is ideally located to explore North Devon.
Our cottage is situated just a couple of miles from the historic port and market town of Bideford with its variety of shops, pubs and restaurants, and from where regular sailing trips to Lundy Island can be taken. It is also close to Hartland where the dramatic English Heritage Coastline has been designated an Area Of Outstanding Natural Beauty, but there are also many other wonderful scenic walks both inland and coastal to enjoy.
The fishing villages of Clovelly and Appledore are close by and well worth a visit, as are a host of other quaint little villages, each with its own unique character, charm and welcoming inns.
The Tarka Trail offers walking and cycling along the estuary, with cycle hire available. The lovely sandy beach at Westward Ho is within walking distance for swimming and surfing.
Other places of interest are Dartington Crystal, Tapely Park and gardens and Rosemoor R.H.S gardens, all within a few miles and, of course, the wild beauty of Exmoor is easily reached.
The Milky Way and The Big Sheep will fascinate the younger ones.
There are fantastic beaches within easy reach. The beach at Westward Ho is a pleasant walk from the cottage and offers surfing and kite surfing. The famous beach at Woolacombe is about 11 miles away and the beach at Croyde bay famous for surfing is close by as well.
Devon's landscape is so special, that over half of it has been protected. There are two national parks, two World Heritage Sites, a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, five Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, an international geo-park, plus two varied and stunning coastlines, stretching over 500 km, with 3,500 miles of footpaths and bridleways to connect it all!
North Devon is an idyllic playground in which to base your country cottage break and a favourite English holiday destination. Take time out to relax and unwind in its unspoilt beauty and vibrant history. From rolling hills to pretty patchwork fields, high countryside lanes, to picture postcard villages, Devon charms its visitors with a sense of the timeless.
Our cottage is quite close to the Cornwall and the legendary Tintagel castle and Boscastle are within easy reach as are many of the Cornish beaches.
A little further afield is the famous Eden Project which would be an ideal day trip.
Whatever you are looking for in a holiday you will find it in the stunning North Devon Countryside.
