The villa has recently gone through a refurbishment including new kitchen. Sleeps 6. 3 bedroom villa with furnished balcony, shared pool and stunning views of the valley and the local beach which is a 15 mins walk away. La herradura itself still maintains that original Spanish feel that is hard to find these days with plenty of local bars and restaurants to suite all tastes and pockets.
Whilst you will be able to find music and dancing if you look hard enough this is really ideally situated for those people looking for a relaxing holiday in an authentic part of Spain. Both malaga and Granada airports are within an hour’s drive (we do recommend a car to make the most of your holiday) though local transfer can be arranged if required. So all you need to do once you have booked is to imagine yourself relaxing on the balcony with a glass of wine watching the world go by!
We are a professional couple and spend our time evenly split between Spain and the Hampshire region of the UK. We have rented this property successfully for the last ten years and enjoy as much time as we can in La Herradura
Lynn Amey purchased this villa in 2004
We came to this property on holiday some 15 years ago and fell in love with both La Herradura and this property. Whilst its close to all amenities its just far away to be able to relax in peace a quiet when you want to. We have spent many a night watching the world go by with a BBQ cooked on the built in BBQ and a glass of wine. UK tv and Wifi fitted.
The shared pool is usually quiet with there only being 8 villas on the estate. There are two English couples that live on the estate as well as an English maintenance man - Ken - who is usually in the area. Enjoy either of the two balcony areas or there is plenty of room around the pool for relaxing. La Herradura its self is largely unspoilt and still has that real feeling of authentic Spain. There are plenty of bars and restaurants to suite all pockets, or enjoy tapas on one of the many beach bars. For the more energetic why not play tennis or paddle on the courts only a short walk away or, if you feel you need more excitement then consider the para-gliding or scuba diving facilities on the beach front. For the children there are several playground areas along the front as well a hard area for football (join in with the locals, they love to play Spain v England!) or basketball
Lovely part of Spain to stay. Car needed as it's a long steep walk up from the town. House plain and simple but has everything you need. Owner very pleasant and helpful. Great value for money.
La Herradura sits on the edge of Costa del Sol and Costa Tropical, Nerja is approximately 10km and Almunecar 8km. Malaga, Granada and Seville are all within a day trip distance
This region claims to have the best climate in Europe and is in stark contrast to the area west of Malaga. La Herradura remains typically Spanish.
The Coasta Tropical, has more than 320 days of sun and an average annual temperature of 17 ° C. African winds, hot waters of the Mediterranean sea and the mountains of the Sierra Nevada give a subtropical micro climate, unique in Europe. Furthermore, the beautiful maritime life makes the place a favoured base for practising scuba diving in Spain.
We recommend you have a car: A car would be necessary to go shopping in the village located 1 km away and to explore the area.
La Herradura (translated by the horseshoe) reflects perfectly the bay between the Cerro Gordo Peak and La Punta de la Mona. The village of La Herradura kept its Spanish character and contrary to other constructions in the uplands which are in Southern Spain, it succeed in being preserved despite tourism. You will find a selection of good restaurants and traditional Spanish bars. However, those who are seeking to enjoy night life will not be disappointed as there a a couple of live music venues within the village and Tuttie Fruitie Square in Nerja is a very well known night spot and is a short taxi ride away.! Nevertheless, the village has a few supermarkets, banks, newsagent, medical centre, a chemist, a hair dresser and a market where you will find fresh products every morning.
The ski resort of Sierra Navada is approx an hour's drive away. La Herradura is popular with those that like to ski but want to return to a warmer climate in the evening or those that wish to split their holiday between a mild climate and skiing.
