About Mark L Campbell
Devout one-arm fly fisherman and fly tier. Program Lead for Harrisburg's Project Healing Waters / PHWFF (fly fishing for injured military). Fell in love with Penn's Creek in my youth and was fortunate to find this fantastic property in the heart of the best Penn's Creek has to offer. I host several PHWFF Events each year at camp.
Mark L Campbell purchased this Cabin in 1991
Why Mark L Campbell chose Millmont
Fell in love with Penn's at an early age. My highly unlikely to be filled fantasy was to have a cabin on this famed trout stream. Camp Guttalata is located in the heart of the best water Penn's Creek has to offer. All WILD trout averaging 14 - 18", and many much larger. There are only two cabins past ours, the road dead ends and upstream for four miles is accessible by foot or bike only. It is a peaceful, pristine environment.
What makes this Cabin unique
Best "wadeable" wild trout stream in the east. Abundant wildlife . Great kayaking in the early spring. Inner tubing Penn's in the summer. Mountain bike the many mountain roads and trails. Easy hiking as well as mountain hiking. Only a four mile drive to a Sportsmen's Club that has a great playground, mini-golf, wildlife zoo and restaurant.
Cancelled bookings will not receive a refund.
The cabin was everything they said it would be. I could of stayed there for a month and felt like home . I would recommend it to anyone who was looking for a great get away. And Mark was very helpful. I would say there again. A home away from home.
Thank you Cathy! That's exactly how we want our guests to feel. It is a peaceful and serene environment.
We had an excellent trip and stay at Mark's cabin. The valley in which the cabin is located is simply beautiful and very picturesque. This is the perfect location as home base for whatever outdoor adventure you seek. We especially enjoyed fishing Penns Creek and hiking on all the nearby trails.
The cabin itself is set up with everything that you could possibly need. Mark has ensured that the guide for the cabin is written with such details as to ensure there is no question unanswered. Mark also took the time to speak with us before the trip and answered all questions pertaining to our trip and guidance on fishing during this time of year.
We enjoyed cooking all of our meals at the cabin and literally anything that you need for meal prep and cooking is in the kithen. Hanging out in the evening on the deck or by the campfire pit was the perfect end to each day.
Thank you for sharing this special place with us Mark! We can't wait to return in the fall or spring!
You are too kind.
Every guest is a special guest to me and I try to make sure that they enjoy their visit to Camp Guttalata as if it were me visiting our special piece of paradise.
The pictures you sent were outstanding. The fish pictures were great but the Butterfly gathering was something very special. You never know what special wildlife you may see along Penn's scenic gorge.
You are most welcome back anytime and we look forward to serving you.
You stood out from the crowd for sure!
Thank you so much for your kind review,
Mark L Campbell
We had a wonderful time! We went tubing and fishing and relaxed. What not to love. Great cozy atmosphere!!!!
Thank you Melissa,
I do my best to make sure every guest enjoys their stay at Camp Guttalata. I was delighted to hear that Ray took my advice on the fishing and was successful. Consider a late June rental next year. The fishing and tubing is even better. We have many fly fishing guests that repeat their same dates every spring so it is good to get on the list for mid-late June ASAP.
Also, thank you for respecting our property so well. You were great guests!
Camp Guttalata was an amzing place to stay
First off, Mark was extremely nice and helpful with accommodating my wife and twin girls. I am an avid fly fisherman and mark was very knowledgeable about where and what they would bite on. The seclusion of this camp was exactly what we needed. The views of the creek and mountains were breathtaking. Mark is one of the nicest people that we have rented from and would highly recommend staying there. We will definitely be returning.
Joe and lisa Anderson
We love working with guests like Lisa and Joe to help make their stay the best that it can be. Even in the middle of winter you can find peace and solitude at Camp Guttalata. Other seasons allow for the opportunity to explore the forested trails and secluded stream / small mountain river that flows past our back door. It is a fly fisherman's and nature lover's paradise.
Beautiful Property! Well kept, couldn’t ask for a nicer creek-side cabin.
The 7 of us had a great time. Unfortunately, the rain prevented us from fishing, but the owner, Mark, set us up with a kayak adventure. The float from Coburn back to the cabin provides a chance to see the breathtaking beauty of the mountains along Penn’s Creek. The cabin is comfortable and cozy with great decor. The kitchen is stocked with everything you need to cook for a large group. Plenty of space inside and out, with two porches and a fire pit available for lounging. It’s the perfect place to spend a long weekend. Mark is very knowledgeable having fished the area for many years and is happy to suggest fishing spots and flies. Since we didn’t fish this trip, we are definitely booking another weekend. Can’t wait to get back!
Camp Guttalata is a very tranquil, restful place to retreat. It is clear that the owners have a true passion for helping their guests to have the best possible experiences while visiting. We found the cabin in exactly the condition that was described and the owner was easily accessible to answer any of our questions or concerns. We had no issues; all positive memories. This is a great place for an 'unplugged' family get away. World class fly fishing, great hiking and biking trails, gorgeous views and pleasant encounters with wildlife. It does my heart good to know that this piece of paradise still exists in PA.
