The house is a second home ,I have been visiting Antibes for 25 years and love the character and charm of the old town and it's ancient streets.The house has been refurbished to a high standard during the winter of 2014 .The house is a unique character property on the ramparts which is a listed ancient monument providing luxury accommodation with good natural light over 3 floors with sea views from three bedrooms .Each of the 3 air conditioned bedrooms are beautifully furnished with high quality mattresses and Egyption cotton bedding with high ceilings with exposed beams.The master suite at second floor is spacious and has its own seating area, separate TV/Sky with a child bed if required.The master suite has a new luxury en suite shower room with separate toilet.While the other 2 bedrooms at first floor are served by a new high quality bathroom with bath and shower.The property is accessed via a pretty private pathway rising above the cobbled pedestrianised street below, there are no pedestrians passing the house meaning the location is quiet and private.The house benefits from a completely refurbished open plan kitchen, dining and living area.The kitchen is new and well equiped with high quality range oven ,dishwasher ,fridge freezer, wine fridge and washer dryer which happily caters for the house guests.Guests have the option of eating at a breakfast bar or a dining table .There is a ground floor patio in front of the house but this is not private and one neighbour has access across it. The house is fully air conditioned throughout with new high quality units.
The house is very conveniently located only a minutes walk from the Old Town's Provencal Market , restaurants and shops.The house is perfectly located for a family beach holiday.
Please note as of 2018 the town hall of Antibes has identified this house as being of particular historical interest and one of the most photographed properties in the old town.
As such, to maintain the beauty of the house and street the town hall and neighbours of Rue Barque en Cannes have requested that no table / chairs, towels, laundry or personal effects be placed outside the property.
SPORTS; Antibes is renowned for it's sailing and yachting in Port Vauban and there are locations on the nearby Antibes beaches for diving and the hire of windsurfers, Kayaks and Catamarans.Water ski-ing and jet ski hire is also available at the nearby Garoup beach.
Golf is available inland on a number of courses including the Mougins Golf and Country Club.Tennis is also available at a number of nearby clubs.
Ski-ing is a 1.5 hour car journey into the Alps Maritime at Auron and Isola.
EVENTS; The annual Cannes Film Festival and Monaco Grand Prix are both in May within 2 weeks of each other and Antibes is a great central point to enjoy these events.The famous Jazz a Juan is held in July in Juan les Pins and is the biggest Jazz festival outside of the US.Antibes enjoys it's annual sailing festival in June known as Voiles D'Antibes and becomes the home to some of the worlds most spectacular sailing yachts and clippers.In April Antibes houses the annual Antiques Festival which is one of the biggest in France and attracts enthusiasts from all over Europe.
LOCATION; The House is 20 minutes drive or taxi from Nice airport.The train station in Antibes is 10 minute walk and is a mainline SNCF station to Paris and other major cities but also gives regular access to nearby major centre's of Cannes, Nice and Monaco.Antibes has a large bus station 5 minutes walk away with cheep transport to all major centre's including Nice airport.
There is a large choice of beaches with Plage de Gravette and Plage Salis a 5 and 10 minute walk away.There are more exclusive private beaches with sun chairs available at Garoup beach on Cap D'Antibes and the Cap D'Antibes Beach Club in Juan Les Pins.
