There are wonderful beaches to explore all along this coastline. All beaches are for public use. Although many beach areas are lined by hotels there is always a public path nearby down to the beach. Lifeguards are present on most beach areas and they fly green orange and red flags depending on wind and waves. For your own safety please respect the message in the flag!

A great view to the bay, a fine, clean house with a fresh swimming pool.
We come back there ....
We were 6 people of 3 generations having a relaxing holiday week at Villa Zoi. Everything was perfect, good space, beautiful house inside and outside. Very nice view and facilities. We highly recommend this holiday resort!
A lovely place to stay.
If you just want to relax, be at Villa Zoi. If you want to shop or go to a restaurant, visit Chania. If you want to explore Crete, there are a lot of options, not far away.
I therefore recommend Villa Zoi as much as I can. The only thing you have to bring, is a car, to come around. Villa Zoi offers you the rest.
Villa Zoi is an oasis of tranquility and visual splendor. The villa is perched on a hill overlooking the Lefka Ori Mountains and the Sea of Crete. Chania is visible in the distance.
We spent two weeks at Villa Zoi with our children (15, 13, 9). Our eldest son (21) joined us from Paris for a few days at the end of our holiday. The villa wants for nothing. Often it was difficult to motivate ourselves to visit the island as the relaxed, outdoor living at the villa was so pleasant. The children enjoyed the pool and the little yellow kitty they named "Zoi".
The owners, Kristi and Bjorn, were wonderful. They went out of their way to make sure our stay was pleasant. Dimitris, the manager, was very helpful. The clean lady and gardener were nice and efficient.
A car is a must if you are to really enjoy Crete. Trust Car Rental at the Chania Airport provided excellent service. Be warned though, some roads in Crete are treacherous and not well maintained. The children loved the hair-raising drive up to the villa each day!
We definitely recomment Villa Zoi. It is the perfect pied à terre for exploring 8,000 years of Cretan history!
Au revoir . . .
I cannot fault Villa Zoi.
We loved it, the views are amazing.
The location is rural yet not too far from the supermarkets and lovely town of Chania.
We had beautiful weather but were glad we had the pool heated as the children spent hours in there. The only negative was that Easter is still considered out of season in Crete so some restaurants and activities were closed - which is a shame as I think it is a great time to visit.
Thank you for a great holiday, we hope to come back again!
We have rented a number of villas through direct websites and Villa Zoi proved to be the best of the bunch. The location at the top of a hill with 360 degree beach and mountain views is unbeatable. There are lots of quiet shaded areas to sit outside and the sun is on the pool all day long. It's up a long hill from the beach so we'd recommend hiring a car. We made great use of ours exploring the island but to be honest if you just want to chill out and enjoy the pool and the views you could maybe hire one for just part of the holiday. We'd recommend the tavernas in Pano Stalos, less touristy than in town; we ate like kings.
The owners were efficient and charming, making sure that all our needs were met and developing a much more personal relationship than is the norm. The villa was immaculately clean and very well equipped. Beyond that it is full of personal touches such as artwork and ornaments that add to the home from home felling. Mr Dimitris and the cleaning ladies were very welcoming and nothing was too much trouble.
We would recommend this propery to friends and will consider returning next year. A great place!

Stalos is a waterfront tourist village that is located 9 km away from the city of Chania and 2 km from the villa Zoi. It is made-up by a long, endless, sandy beach and a busy waterfront with small hotels, cafes, restaurants and bars located along the seaside road. Chania is the capital city of the prefecture of Chania. This beautiful city, located on the north shore of Crete, is an ideal base for exploring the whole island. The city of Chania preserves all the features of the Venetian rule times. The White Mountains (Lefka Ori), rising behind the city and diving south in the Livikon Pelagos in the area of Sfakia, consist of numerous gorges for nature-lovers and enthousiastic mountaineers. The sandy beaches and the clear waters in them (Elafonissi, Falassarna, Paleochora, Georgioupoli, etc) are ideal for swimming. The Minoan, roman and Byzantine archaeological sites are tempting for those interested in cultural and historical explorations.
