Witsend is at the edge of the village beside the road and within easy walking distance of the centre and its castle, restaurants, pubs etc. There are many walks and cycle routes, vineyards and only 30 minutes from the famous seaside town of Aldeburgh and the fashionable Benjamin Britten founded Snape Maltings. We are about 90 minutes from London by train. It is from Framingham that Queen Mary 1st started her march to London to claim her crown.
Our home is the perfect retreat for a weekend for walkers, cyclists and historians in a thriving town founded in Anglo- Saxon Suffolk. The castle dates back to the 12th Century. Witsend is probably about 300 years old and recently renovated. A hundred years ago it was 3 farm workers cottages and now it is a main house with a 2 bedroom annex. This latter is available for folk seeking 'time-out' in the popular Suffolk town of Framlingham.
'Witsend' has an american style family room with adjoining full kitchen amidst ancient beams, wood burning stove, under floor heating and new features as in white ash open stairs. Next to the kitchen is a shower room. The main bedroom has an ensuite toilet and the second bedroom bunk beds (children over 11) and large wardrobe.
The garden are courtyard patio style with a eating and seating area. Cat friendly well behaved dogs are possible.
