Located on rue St Jacques in the heart of the Latin Quarter, this romantic self-catering apartment is on the 3rd and 4th floor of a building overlooking the St Severin church. You will find it hard to find such a central apartment in Paris.
It is amazing to have an apartment so centrally located in Paris, being only a minute’s walk from Notre Dame and the Ile de la Cité, and about the same distance from Blvd St Germain and Blvd St Michel in the heart of the Latin Quarter. This is a perfect place for a couple, but also ideal for a couple with one or two children (up to 4 pers) to experience Paris. I have been involved in French tourism since 1993 organising tours and renting villas and apartments to clients. In 2007 my accountant said to me that my life would not be complete until I owned a property in France! What a rare accountant! So my wife and I fell in love with this property in Paris the second we saw it. The rest is history!

We had always wanted to own a property in France, and we looked far and wide for the suitable place. We looked particularly through Provence, but every place we saw we never really fell in love with. I wanted a place that I would want to have a framed photo of in my home in NZ - one that friends would look at enviously. After a very short search in Paris we stumbled on this apartment. I asked a friend in Paris to see the apartment straight away and he advised me that 'it was a little jewel' (un petit bijou). I travelled immediately to Paris to see it, and immediately on seeing it I hugged the real estate agent - this was the place. We are privileged to be able to own such a special piece of Paris.
In buying a property I wanted a few features. I wanted to be on the third floor, far enough away from the street below, and I wanted to have a lovely view. On walking into the lounge you are transfixed by the glorious view of the St Severin Church and garden - they are my neighbours! As a bonus the apartment faces west so gets the afternoon sun - I've even had people sun-bathing in the window!! As a bonus we are as centrally located as you could possibly be - the Seine River is 150 metres away and Notre Dame Cathedral is a minute's walk away. Because of this proximity everything in central Paris is so close, with barely any need to take the metro. Despite the proximity to the busy Notre Dame area, the area behind Rue St Jacques is absolutely local Latin quarter, with the local hub being based around Place Maubert with their exciting array of magnificent food shops and market.

We were very lucky that John Reece was happy to make available his wonderful apartment in the Latin Quarter of Paris for our family of four. John was fantastic in providing us with lots of pre-vacation information and furthermore his fabulous personal visitors guidebook proving all the advice any new visitor to Paris could require, from tips about money, buses and trains, and recommendations about restaurants and places to visit. John's apartment is in the best location imaginable. The Latin Quarter is the student area just over the river from Notre Dame and leads back over to the Sorbonne. It is a very safe area with lots of great cafes and restaurants and where you can really live like a local Parisian. Johns apartment is very spacious and nicely decorated and furnished with a lovely bedroom and en suite and also pull out beds in the living area, plus a nice little kitchen area. We cannot thank John enough for making our family trip to Paris so enjoyable and memorable. Richard and Catherine.
We could not believe our luck in finding this apartment. It is in THE BEST location for visiting Paris. Close to everything and in a great section of town. The apartment is beautiful, comfortable, great view! Honestly we could not have been happier!
Also important to note that the owner John is extremely kind and helpful and is a great resource for any questions you may have or referrals you might want. I highly recommend his walking tour of the area on the first day. It really helps you to feel more comfortable with your surroundings and the culture. Fascinating and fun!

Lovely apartment in an extraordinary location. We were particularly taken with the view across the rooftops and trees of St Severin from the sunlit living area.
Well set up for a self catering stay, tastefully appointed in a delightful eclectic French style, modern appliances, and a very comfortable bed. Friends stayed with us and reported that the fold down bed was very comfortable too. The interaction with Martine who met us on arrival and was easy and pleasant.
Our stay at Rue Saint Jacques was memorable and we will be back!
We throughly enjoyed our stay in this lovely apartment. The location was fantastic , close to all main attractions and easy transport options.
Downstairs bedroom was quiet, bathroom great with a good shower. Sunny and warm.
We found John very helpful to work with, he gave us lots of interesting suggestions of activities, markets and restaurants.
I stayed with my husband and adult daughter for 4 nights. Overall, the apartment is quite fine. It is well-appointed and well-equipped. It is in a superb location.
The beds are comfortable, the pillows and bed linens are fresh and clean. The furnishings and lighting are good. The kitchen functions well. There is plenty of hot water for showers, and the heating is excellent. Windows open for lovely cross-ventilation. I like the convenient keyless entry system.
The owner and his representative were a pleasure to deal with. We were sent a thorough orientation manual in advance, and were met and shown the flat with professionalism and ease.
Rue St. Jacques feels safe late at night. The apartment itself is very quiet within, and the view of the church and roof tops is gorgeous.
The small reasons I can not give it a resounding 5 star rating are:
It is a 500 yr-old building, after all, but the walls of the common area hallway and stairs leading up to the flat are a bit crumbly. However, they are clean.
The toilet, while clean and well-functioning, was tiny with little manoeuvring room, and no ventilation.
Overall, I would recommend this flat to my friends and family.
This is a delightful apartment near the Sorbonne. Close to the Seine, it is situated near many popular landmarks, Notre Dame, Musee D’Orsay, Pompidou Centre, Jardins de Luxembourg , Jardins de Tuilleries, and many other points of interest. There is a good local food market with speciality shops, a supermarket within an easy walk and many interesting shops . You are spoilt for choice by the number of good cafes & restaurants nearby. The underground station is nearby if you want to explore further afield.
The apartment is very attractive, well fitted out and comfortable. The only drawback is the three flights of stair to get there. But once inside you have a wonderful view from the window. The bathroom has been modernised and is adjacent to the bedroom. There is a separate toilet. The kitchen is modern and well furnished. The main lounge is comfortable and spacious. Wifi is available. We had a very comfortable week here.

This apartment is located only about 100m from the Seine River and Blvd St Germain respectively and several minutes walking takes you to the front of the Cathedral of Notre Dame. Within a few minutes walk you can access two of the best metros and RER stations available, and there are some wonderful bus route from near the apartment. You are also minutes walk as well from the Cluny Museum, Ste Chapelle, the Pantheon, and the Sorbonne University. You are in the heart of the Latin Quarter. Within five to ten minutes walk away you can get to the Louvre, Musee d'Orsay, the Cluny Medieval Museum, Pantheon, Hotel de Ville, the Luxembourg Gardens. Within minutes of the apartment you will arrive at the Place Maubert market on Blvd St Germain, and there are restaurants galore in the neighbourhood. You couldn't be located in a more central location - because of your proximity to all major sights you hardly have a necessity to take public transport while here!
