OK, so as a geodome, Hazel in not actually a yurt. At 14ft across it is our smallest tent, and is structurally quite different from the yurts, being a fairly modern invention! Hazel has just one double bed but has the same facilties and wood burning stove as all our yurts. Hazel has benefitted from the addition of 2 new windows in 2017 – so it is brighter and more open feeling.
Comfy beds, quality linen and towels come as standard with all our Yurts. All are setup for self-catering with their own cooking facilities (twin-hob gas stove) and cooking/dining equipment (cutlery/ crockery/ pots and pans). We provide all our yurts with a cool box and freeze-packs for guests to keep food and drinks fresh during their holiday.
The yurts are 'off-grid', without a mains water supply or electric power, but we provide drinking water and a basic rechargeable battery-powered lantern for lighting. Each has a wood burning stove for heating, which will be made up ready to light, with a basket of firewood ready for each new arrival. We supply extra wood as required on site for a small/ basic charge (£5 per bag).
Shared washroom facilities and toilets are in the Hub, a modern, purpose-built facility which we pride in keeping clean and tidy, offering high quality showers and toilets that are open for guests 24/7.
Black Isle Yurts is sited on a small working farm that offers access to wild areas of semi-ancient woodland, secluded sandy beaches on an unspoilt coastline, and breath-taking views over the Moray Firth. Peace and tranquillity come guaranteed as our yurts are well-spaced out, each in their own natural clearing in the native birch woods.
An area of great biodiversity, with endless opportunities to see wildlife (we have one of the best dolphin-spotting spots in Europe!), and great historical and archaeological interest. It is a wonderful area for cycling (mountain bike tracks adjacent at Learnie Red Rock) and walking. We also have the traditional coastal villages of Fortrose, Rosemarkie and Cromarty close by with their restaurants, bars, arts and crafts and museums so there really is something for everyone at Black Isle Yurts.
Pets welcome (£20 per pet per stay)
