Escape to Provence right near Julian, with this private, tranquil setting in an orchard of apples, pears, plums, pomegranates, nectarines, and persimmons. A spacious, four-bedroom, three-and-one-half bath home overlooking the three peaks of the Cuyamaca Mountains sits in a Monet garden of daffodils, tulips, peonies, lilacs, and every color iris you have ever seen. Leave a few cherries for the blue jays or munch on perfectly ripe apricots, or next month's peaches.

For an all organic lunch, you may want to check with the gardener about the corn or tomatoes. If the winter greens are gone, there would be zucchini or eggplant to throw on the grill. Plan a dinner for your group under the grape arbor while watching the three peaks change into purple sunsets. Relax, walk, hike, bike, go fishing, visit the town of Julian or the desert.

When snow covers the plum blossoms, cozy up around the family room fireplace and check out one of the many games around.

This lovely 2-story home has everything!

The 3600 sq foot house sits on one acre of lovingly tended property. The landscape changes daily so it is impossible to predict what might be blooming or ripe in the gardens. There are fruit trees, pine and cedar trees, flowers, organic gardens and a beautiful mountain view. It is located on a private street in the Pine Hills area of Julian.

Main floor features:

FAMILY ROOM with stone fireplace, oak bookcases, and entertainment center (DVD/VCR and cable TV). The room has a beautiful view, sliding doors to the patio area that overlooks part of the garden, and see-thru area into the kitchen for comfortable family living. There is also a table for eating or playing games in the family area. There are a table and chairs for eating on the patio plus a separate formal elevated dining area in another part of the ground floor next to another living area with huge sectional sofa (enough for 2 people to stretch out comfortably).

WET BAR with double sink, oak cupboards and wine closet adjoins the Family Room.

COOK’S DELIGHT KITCHEN with garden window with meadow, pond and mountain views. There is a center island with cook top and eat-at counter.

TWO LARGE BEDROOMS and BATHS plus and an additional half bath for convenience.

EXTRA SLEEPING ROOM /Former OFFICE: Optional with couch only for an individual.

Upstairs:

BEAUTIFUL MASTER BEDROOM SUITE with a fireplace, sitting area and balcony with a panoramic view of the Cuyamaca mountains. There is a vanity area with walk-in closet, 2 sinks, shower, separate toilet room, separate vanity bench.

SECOND BEDROOM is dormitory style with 2 twin beds.

Sleeps eight people in beds but as many as twelve people have stayed in the house. There is a huge sofa (where 2 people could stretch out) in the living area and another sofa in the family room.

One person described the house as a “great big hug”. It is very comfortable for families with children, groups of friends, and equally appealing to couples with dogs.

Pets welcome at 'Corgi's Castle' with approval in advance.

The "must stay" place in Julian!

I've rented Corgi's Castle 4 times now, and every stay has been better than the last. The home is as described. The grounds are beautiful in every season. I live in San Diego, which is less than an hour away from Julian. I bring a small group of scrapbookers up to Corgi's Castle twice a year. It meets our needs perfectly! We have plenty of room to scrap and chat, and the bedrooms are far enough away from the middle of the house that we don't bother those who wish to sleep. I would highly recommend Corgi's Castle to anyone. The owners are charming, and if you are lucky, you will get a visit from Corgi himself!

Spacious Home With A Beautiful View

Sprawling rural home in the Julian countryside. The gardens were lovely and the view from the deck was absolutely beautiful. The house itself could use some work as things inside are not perfect but for the price it's a terrific value and there would be more than enough room for large families.

Country Beauty to Rejuvinate your Soul

Spring time with buds and flowers on the fruit trees, the winter lettuces/herbs in the garden, other vegetables growing and the daffodils blooming...Can't forget the chickens humming and the rooster crowing, This place was a piece of paradise for our group. Perfect for our large group size and our 'SOWING' journey in girl scouts,. We saw wild turkeys, a coyote, horses, bulls, cows ..beautiful view of the local mountain area. This country home is set off on a private road, easy to hike from and wonderful to relax in. We enjoyed the chickens, helping the owner in the garden hiking to camp Marston and stargazing at night. The house itself is big, each room with its own character and lots of space for people to congregate , we were 18 at one point and at night we were able to do skits and accomodate everyone in the dining room/living room.

I would recommend this place to anyone who wants easygoing back country living. I understand June through September the garden is just incredible! Definitely a thumbs up for family reunions, big group events or even just a nice getaway with friends. Julian, the town very close by, 10 minute drive. We will definitely be back at a different time of year so we can see the change in the garden. The GIrl Scouts thank the owners and property manager Bonnie for taking such good are of us.

Lovely views!

The unusual layout of this house lends itself to privacy. There are many areas for small groups to gather. The deck looks out over the abundant garden of fruit and vegetables and flowers. There is a view of several mountains. It's very quiet here and the night stars are awesome.

Enjoyable Mountain Retreat

Our expectations for the condition of the home were already tempered by reading the previous reviews. The home is well worn and dated. If you are expecting a more contemporary setting, this probably isn't the place for you.

That said, we loved our experience at Corgi's Castle. Bonnie was very accommodating and was able to work with our schedule for check-in. She was super easy to work with and made the process of booking easy.

There was plenty of space in our party of 8 adults, 2 young children, and 2 dogs. The garden and the chickens were far more entertaining than we could have imagined and we ended up spending a lot of time outdoor on the spacious patio and roaming through the yard. The view from the patio & master bedroom's deck were excellent.

The bedrooms were spread out enough so that people could go to sleep at different times and not be bothered by those whom were still up. The kitchen is large enough to cook multiple items without feeling squeezed.

The house was located on a quiet street in close proximity to both Julian and William Heise County Park. There were plenty of places to walk outside of the property and lots of hiking within just a few miles of the property.

I would definitely recommend this location for groups of people that would like to be able to gather and enjoy the fresh air and relaxation the property allows you.

Lovely retreat!

This is the third opportunity I've had to rent this charming home. The first was for a family reunion and we were able to host a sit down catered dinner for 30 people! The garden is beautiful and you get a gorgeous view of it and the surrounding countryside from the kitchen window. There is a European charm to the property with plenty of room to enjoy privacy or time together!
