Escape to Provence right near Julian, with this private, tranquil setting in an orchard of apples, pears, plums, pomegranates, nectarines, and persimmons. A spacious, four-bedroom, three-and-one-half bath home overlooking the three peaks of the Cuyamaca Mountains sits in a Monet garden of daffodils, tulips, peonies, lilacs, and every color iris you have ever seen. Leave a few cherries for the blue jays or munch on perfectly ripe apricots, or next month's peaches.

For an all organic lunch, you may want to check with the gardener about the corn or tomatoes. If the winter greens are gone, there would be zucchini or eggplant to throw on the grill. Plan a dinner for your group under the grape arbor while watching the three peaks change into purple sunsets. Relax, walk, hike, bike, go fishing, visit the town of Julian or the desert.

When snow covers the plum blossoms, cozy up around the family room fireplace and check out one of the many games around.

This lovely 2-story home has everything!

The 3600 sq foot house sits on one acre of lovingly tended property. The landscape changes daily so it is impossible to predict what might be blooming or ripe in the gardens. There are fruit trees, pine and cedar trees, flowers, organic gardens and a beautiful mountain view. It is located on a private street in the Pine Hills area of Julian.

Main floor features:

FAMILY ROOM with stone fireplace, oak bookcases, and entertainment center (DVD/VCR and cable TV). The room has a beautiful view, sliding doors to the patio area that overlooks part of the garden, and see-thru area into the kitchen for comfortable family living. There is also a table for eating or playing games in the family area. There are a table and chairs for eating on the patio plus a separate formal elevated dining area in another part of the ground floor next to another living area with huge sectional sofa (enough for 2 people to stretch out comfortably).

WET BAR with double sink, oak cupboards and wine closet adjoins the Family Room.

COOK’S DELIGHT KITCHEN with garden window with meadow, pond and mountain views. There is a center island with cook top and eat-at counter.

TWO LARGE BEDROOMS and BATHS plus and an additional half bath for convenience.

EXTRA SLEEPING ROOM /Former OFFICE: Optional with couch only for an individual.


BEAUTIFUL MASTER BEDROOM SUITE with a fireplace, sitting area and balcony with a panoramic view of the Cuyamaca mountains. There is a vanity area with walk-in closet, 2 sinks, shower, separate toilet room, separate vanity bench.

SECOND BEDROOM is dormitory style with 2 twin beds.

Sleeps eight people in beds but as many as twelve people have stayed in the house. There is a huge sofa (where 2 people could stretch out) in the living area and another sofa in the family room.

One person described the house as a “great big hug”. It is very comfortable for families with children, groups of friends, and equally appealing to couples with dogs.

Pets welcome at 'Corgi's Castle' with approval in advance.

The "must stay" place in Julian!

I've rented Corgi's Castle 4 times now, and every stay has been better than the last. The home is as described. The grounds are beautiful in every season. I live in San Diego, which is less than an hour away from Julian. I bring a small group of scrapbookers up to Corgi's Castle twice a year. It meets our needs perfectly! We have plenty of room to scrap and chat, and the bedrooms are far enough away from the middle of the house that we don't bother those who wish to sleep. I would highly recommend Corgi's Castle to anyone. The owners are charming, and if you are lucky, you will get a visit from Corgi himself!

A Beautiful Home In The Country...

The house was clean and located in a beautiful setting. There were some minor problems during our stay which Diana (the owner) resolved quickly. We are having a heat wave in California but all the rooms had fans and in the evening the living room and back porch were a lovely place to gather. Definitely recommend this place to families having reunions or gatherings.

Nice and quiet place.

I realize it is an older house but it really needs some upgrades and TLC. The back door only locks with the deadbolt. The wallpaper is peeling, there were spider webs in the house. The upstairs master bedroom ceiling fan had a missing blad so it didn’t work. It was so hot and we could open the sliding door because there was no screen. There were cockroaches in the kitchen and tons of ants. Nobody came to feed or water the chickens. It was hot and they had no feed in the pen. Not sure when the place was cleaned prior to our trip but the floor was dirty. The screen in the downstairs living room on the sliding door did not fit across and the curtains in the rooms did not fit on any of the windows which made me uncomfortable for privacy. Although it was nice to get a way with my sisters, I just wish the house was in better condition. The yard is in bad condition so I didn’t want to even be outside. It is very hot in the mountains and there was no AC. Carpets are stained and furniture smells musty. TV needs to be upgraded. The big TV is in a very small area and you can’t fit everyone in there.

Great place for a large group

Corgi's Castle was a large comfortable home! Lots of room to spread out. Everything about the place needs some TLC but we just viewed it as "lived in" and comfortable.

We were so excited only to be let down. First the communication between the manager/property owners was terrible. Our check-in time was 3PM on Thursday however we did not receive the detailed instructions on the directions or the lock box code until almost 5PM Thursday. We attempted to contact many times without any response. We were literally driving up and down the street trying to find the home when we finally got through on the phone. The home is not as pictured, the flower beds are not maintained and therefore dead, the fruit tree bases are littered with compost and debris and a lot of flies...the chickens don't help either. The lawn is dirt and weeds. The home itself needs some TLC, broken fan blades, screen windows and doors are either non existent or have holes. The upstairs master was so hot and you could not open the door because the screen was missing and the fan was missing a blade. Every time I prepared a meal I had to fight back the little black ants. We had to thoroughly clean the coffee pot, it too was loaded with ants. Cupboards were either missing or hung open, they would not close. The floor was swept but NOT clean. We were unable to make phone calls, and texting would come in hours later. The VCR collection...well luckily we were did not plan on spending a lot of time in the home. There were other homes to choose from and we chose this home based on pictures and reviews...buyer beware. They did try to make up for the lack of contact and offered us an additional nights stay but we did not get that information until we got home.
