Casa Victoria January 19
If you're looking for a city centre property with close proximity to Las Canteras Beach then this is for you. Unfortunately, we are not city dwellers and just could not get used to living in the noise associated with city living. We had booked for four weeks but decided to leave and move on after 2 weeks to a much quieter place in a village around 20Kl out of the city.
A couple of negatives that we found were; Restaurant immediately below the apartment with the extractor fan below the windows. Bins being emptied and streets being swept with mechanical sweeper all through the night. People noise in the street again all through the night. The apartment itself is on the first floor served by an elevator. However the corridors and stairs are very dark and dingy. There are no windows in the lounge and we found it to be quite claustrophobic.
The positives were; Only a couple of hundred yards from Las Canteras beach which has a most beautiful promenade and we spent many a time strolling along this. The beach itself is also excellent and even in January was busy but with plenty of room with sun loungers available if required. Again the restaurants in the area of the beach and apartment were plentiful with loads of choice available. The weather in the first two weeks in January was excellent with day time temperatures of 25 degrees with plenty of sunshine.
All in all we enjoyed our stay other than the negatives mentioned above.
Quarries is the most popular area among the tourists that want to be in contact with all the amenities of the area with great connection of the rest of the island.
The beach here has everything you need: snorkeling, surfing, and plenty of space to sunbath.
There is a great promenade full of bars and restaurants. In the morning it's great for jogging, walking. In the evening it's great to have one of the small cafes outdoors to watch the sunset and enjoy the environment.
Close by, there is Santa Catalina, plenty of popular restaurant serving classic Canarian dishes as well as fresh fish. This square has the main bus terminal to reach easily any other part of the Island. Excellent bus network all over the city and the island, taxis are inexpensive too.
Plus now, the new smart city bikes (Sitycleta) have been distributed in the capital.
