Nice sunny spot in southern Spain with a pool, a block from the beach, jogging trail in the beach forest, close to golf courses, and all the amenities in an authentically Spanish beach town. Exterior furniture for 6 adults in the back patio with awnings covering the entire area. Sunny mornings, shady on those hot afternoons. Pool (adult and children areas) with lifeguard. English spoken.
Rota is facing the Bay of Cadiz and is a warm, friendly little authentic Spanish town that hosts Spanish and US military forces. The food is wonderful, the golf coarses are open nearly year-round, the people are very friendly, the seasonal fairs are vibrant and rich with history and colour... there are not enough great things to say about this, relatively well kept secret, gem of Spain.
There is no mass tourism, yet it has a feel to it that brings back memories of a childhood beach trip.
Our home is in a community that has its own pool (adults and kids), the beach is a block away and the community is walled for safety and piece of mind. You also have your own private parking spot, but there is a wide street in front with plenty of extra parking or for leaving a large vehicle.
Not that far you can see mountains, caves, millenial civilization, bull fights, breathtaking architecture, Roman ruins, medieval castles, old arab towns on mountain choices are endless. And let's not forget the awe inspiring Strait of Gibraltar and the Rock of Gibraltar itself. A must for an interesting deviation from Spain.
The attraction of this temperate place of the world is that there's something going and beauty abounds, year round. It's never too cold, it's never too hot. It's always just right.
