About the property

2 bedroom, 1 bathroom, ground floor flat with extensive garden and parking

Coming to see the Glasgow Warriers or going to a show at the Hydro or a conference at the Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre(SECC)? Then this is the flat for you. A 5 min walk to Scotstoun Leisure Centre (Warriers, Badminton and gym/swimming pool) and 10 mins by car or pubic transport to the Hydro/ SECC. If you're going wider afield, the link to the M8 is at the foot of the road and there are 3 bus services going to the city centre from around the corner.

The space

The flat has main door access and is set amidst a very attractive garden. One of Glasgow's most beautiful parks is a couple of minutes walk away and there are cycle paths taking you in to the city centre or up to the Clyde and Forth Canal. We are on the edge of the west end and only 15 minutes from the transport Museum, Kelvinhall and Kelvingrove Art Gallery and, of course, Scotstoun leisure centre with swimming pool is on our doorstep. The location is close to the motorway box for travelling north, south or eastwards through to Edinburgh and there is great bus and rail transport close by. Last, but by no means least, Loch Lomond and the route to Argyle, Stirling and up to the highlands is 20-30 mins away from the front door!

Guest access

Guests are welcome to any part of the flat and garden and can bring their car right up to the front door if access is an issue. There is a walk in shower for ease of access also.

Interaction with guests

There are only two flats in the building and I, as host, live upstairs. I have a large garden and greenhouse and in the summer months, I have loads of produce which guests are invited to sample. I also have a large trampoline for the youngsters to use if they want. That means I am always reachable if guests need any help with the facilities or directions/advice.

The neighbourhood

Eleanor’s home is located in Glasgow City, Scotland, United Kingdom.

The area is known as Scotstoun Village and is predominantly cottage style terraces and villas. My building is one of five original estate dwellings and the only apartments in the area. They are very distinctive red and cream brick buildings- a very unusual building material in west Scotland. The area is a conservation area so has wonderful charm and authenticity. There is a garage and supermarket around the corner and small cafes and amenity shops close by. One famous building is the Great Western Auctions which is around the corner and features regularly in the Antiques Road Show!

Getting around

The main Road is Dumbarton Road and is about 200 yards away. There are a number of buses which go from there to the City Centre. They also take you the five minute journey to the Partick transport exchange where you can get a number of buses, one of which goes to the airport. It is also the hub for the underground(tube) and rail station with direct trains to the city centre stations and Edinburgh

Glasgow's main museums: Kelvingrove, the Transport Museum, the Hunterian as well as major leisure facilities at Scotstoun and Kelvinhall are all within 5-15minutes away. The west end cafes, bars and restaurants are 10 minutes away and the city centre is accessible by car, taxi and bus in 15 minutes. The SECC and Hydro venues are 10 minutes away as are theatres and cinemas.

We are on the cycle path to the Forth and Clyde Canal and to Loch Lomond which is only 20 minutes away and we are immediately adjacent to Victoria Park - one of Glasgow's finest!
