I have lived in the house on and off for many years. In 1999 I moved to the Peak District where my family and I live in a farm house in the hills. We use the house from time to time and enjoy it's easy position for central London.
Mark purchased this House in 1981
Why Mark chose Hammersmith Broadway
We bought the house in order to be near the centre of things, but in a quiet (and safe) neighbourhood. (I love my sleep) I like the fact that It takes less than ten minutes to get to the tube which whisks you into central London in ten minutes.
What makes this House unique
I love the fact that there are lots of useful shops in the next street including a brilliant deli and butcher, a green grocer, a gallery and a curry house. There is also a wonderful pub! I also like the fact that I can get to the river in ten minutes and walk along its spacious banks to the many attractive pubs there. The river is a wonderful place to walk.

Great little neighborhood, Nice owner!
I do have to say, I don't believe the pictures or description of this property make it seem as attractive as it is. This property is owned, or managed by an extremely nice gentleman. I traveled with my Mother (over 55), sister, brother (adults), and my 12 mos old daughter. The bedrooms were clean and the beds were very comfortable. The linens and comforters seemed new and made it feel like home at the end of a long day. The highchair and crib provided saved the trip! There is also a large dining table so every can eat together. The nearest tube is about a 12 min walk, and there is a great pub about 5 min away (Dartmouth Castle-the food is great!). The neighborhood was so quiet and felt very safe. I would recommend this property to friends and hope to stay there again someday soon!
Very Nice home in Hammersmith with close access to the underground.
We had a very nice stay in this home. We had a minor issue when we first checked in, Mark the host was very responsive and helpful. If we ever travel to London again I would not hesitate to stay here again if it was available.
A wonderfully located, homely house in West London
We had a delightful post-Christmas break at this house in West London. The location is superb: ten minutes easy walk to Hammersmith tube, and about fifteen to Westfield at Shepherds Bush. The house is slightly eccentric, in that it is five-bedroomed (and there is also a sofa-bed in the lounge), but you should take note that the 'infrastructure' does not really support such a large houseful.
By that, I mean that the kitchen is tiny, and is just part of the living room (the only public space in the house). We were there as a couple with two children aged 8 and 10, but we chose this property so we could have family visit and stay over for a night, so we could do Christmas stuff together. This meant that at one point we were cooking dinner for twelve - and that was a real challenge in such a tiny kitchen. (The challenge the house has is that the basement floor is a separate flat - as is the case with all the houses in the street now - and although there are a lot of rooms, it would be curiously difficult how to make it a residential family home because of the layout of rooms/plumbing!)
It is also the case that there is only one 'real' bathroom that has a tub, (nice) shower over it and WC. The top bedroom has a tiny bathroom built into the roof that has a WC (a macerating one, so loo paper is fine, but nothing 'heavier'), and a bath that is under such a low part of the roof that it is a real physical challenge to use. My wife and I only used the downstairs shower.
But, if you are happy to live mainly on convenience food and share the one main bath/shower, you can enjoy a superb London location, and take advantage of all the good points this property has to offer. I should also say that the owner is charming and supportive to his tenants. And it is good to know that he and his family sometimes stay there when they need to be in London, so he genuinely cares about the place.
So - provided your eyes are open to the complexities that the curious layout of rooms gives the property, and you understand that it is not what you might call a 'fully functional' five-bedroomed house, but more of a large pied-a-terre - then I commend the place very highly. We had a delightful week here, and may well come back.
Many thanks for your review.
We have just updated the bathroom on the top floor and have put in a proper drainage system and a new bath with new taps making it altogether more useable.
Very glad you had a good stay.
Very good location, nice neighbourhood
A lovely place to stay with a "home from home" atmosphere.
This is a great place to stay at a reasonable price for a large family or group of friends thinking of having a holiday break together. Very near shops, easy access to London. Also a very nice street.
Very glad that you had a good time.
A very good option
All things considered this is quite a good option for people visiting London either long term or even just for a few days. Mark was very accessible and explained things well, though we didn't actually meet him. The location could be a bit closer to the action -- it is in a quiet, non-descript, residential neighborhood in west London, about 8 subway stops to Picadilly Circus, a few more to The City. Nearest Subway stop was about 20 minutes walk. But for London, and this price, this is quite good. Ditto for some main streets with restaurants, shops etc. But even close is a very nice pub called Andover Arms, just a few minutes walk, with great pub food and ale.
Flat itself was of that typical narrow row house type, without much room to swing a cat inside, but bedrooms were large enough, and the living room and kitchen area was compact but comfy. Slept eight of us comfortably. Only on of the showers is usable, really, and you can't flush any paper in the upstairs toilet, so effectively it is a one-bathroom place. Couldn't get heaters on in first place but Mark explained on the phone how to revive the water heater for that, and it was not a problem after ward. A good place to stay.
I'm glad you had a good time. Yes, the heating is sorted now.
I accept that by American standards the house is compact but by English standards the living room area is pretty big! Mis-understanding about the second bathroom. You can use the lavatory normally as long as no sanitary products are put down it. The bath has a shower attachment.
Tabor Road is well situated for Central London, being only 10 minutes from Hammersmith tube (Piccadilly, District and Hammersmith & City line and 14 minutes from Shepherds Bush tube (Central line.). The largest and newest shopping mall in Europe is 12 minutes walk from the house.
Tabor Road is a quiet leafy residential street in a delightful area known as Brackenbury Village. There are shops, wonderful restaurants and a gallery within two minutes of the door. The River Thames is a 12 minute walk and there are many leafy parks near-by. The house is just outside the congestion zone and you can park outside the door (pay and display meter).
Other Activities: shopping, dining, sightseeing, theatre, cinema, night life
