About Mark

I have lived in the house on and off for many years. In 1999 I moved to the Peak District where my family and I live in a farm house in the hills.

We use the house from time to time and enjoy it's easy position for central London.

Mark purchased this house in 1981

Why Mark chose Hammersmith

We bought the house in order to be near the centre of things, but in a quiet (and safe) neighbourhood. (I love my sleep)

I like the fact that It takes less than ten minutes to get to the tube which whisks you into central London in ten minutes.

What makes this house unique

I love the fact that there are lots of useful shops in the next street including a brilliant deli and butcher, a green grocer, a gallery and a curry house. There is also a wonderful pub! I also like the fact that I can get to the river in ten minutes and walk along its spacious banks to the many attractive pubs there. The river is a wonderful place to walk.

A lovely place to stay with a "home from home" atmosphere.

This is a great place to stay at a reasonable price for a large family or group of friends thinking of having a holiday break together. Very near shops, easy access to London. Also a very nice street.

A very good option

  • 5 of 5

All things considered this is quite a good option for people visiting London either long term or even just for a few days. Mark was very accessible and explained things well, though we didn't actually meet him. The location could be a bit closer to the action -- it is in a quiet, non-descript, residential neighborhood in west London, about 8 subway stops to Picadilly Circus, a few more to The City. Nearest Subway stop was about 20 minutes walk. But for London, and this price, this is quite good. Ditto for some main streets with restaurants, shops etc. But even close is a very nice pub called Andover Arms, just a few minutes walk, with great pub food and ale.

Flat itself was of that typical narrow row house type, without much room to swing a cat inside, but bedrooms were large enough, and the living room and kitchen area was compact but comfy. Slept eight of us comfortably. Only on of the showers is usable, really, and you can't flush any paper in the upstairs toilet, so effectively it is a one-bathroom place. Couldn't get heaters on in first place but Mark explained on the phone how to revive the water heater for that, and it was not a problem after ward. A good place to stay.

Owner's Response: I'm glad you had a good time. Yes, the heating is sorted now. I accept that by American standards the house is compact but by English standards the living room area is pretty big! Mis-understanding about the second bathroom. You can use the lavatory normally as long as no sanitary products are put down it. The bath has a shower attachment.

44 Tabor Road

  • 4 of 5

Our family of nine, including our 9 month old grandson, thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The property is located in a nice, quiet neighborhood which was very restful after long days touring the London sights. Many good pubs, as well as grocers, nearby to accommodate different tastes. Convenient to the Hammersmith Tube station.

The property is well maintained and the listing accurately describes the property. This is a great place to stay for a family wishing to experience London.

Lovely terrace house with lots of room for five adults and two children.

Close to amentities and easy access to attractions via train. Easy walk to large grocery store and train station. Bright and cheery house with lovely linens on the beds. We spent a week and recommend Kew Gardens and the Tower of London as well as the Tower Bridge. Internet access was more important than the television. Would stay here again if ever in London.

Quiet London house for larger families

  • 5 of 5

This house is really spacious and the neighbourhood is peaceful and quiet. The house is Victorian, but nicely refurbished and with modern amenities. It is clean and individually decorated.

Tube stations Hammersmith and Goldhawk Road are about 10-12 min walking distance, also Shepherd's Bush and Ravenscourt Park are within walking distance.

Everything was as advertised, there is even a small garden were we could dry clothes! The owner is really friendly and helpful.

Shops and supermarkets are within easy walking distance, so are pubs and restaurants. We particularly liked an Indian restaurant in Shepherd's Bush Road.
