Idyllic Retreat

  • 5 of 5

We stayed for a mini break in the October half term in this delightful cottage. It's rural setting within walking distance of two exciting hills including Chrome Hill make it a safe but interesting place for children to explore. The cottage is about half an hours drive from Alton Towers (which we did with our tescos vouchers!) but equally close to Mam Tor and all the caves. The cottage is well equipped and very comfortable. We were very happy there and would certainly consider going back there again.

weekend of peace

  • 5 of 5

We had a long weekend stay for some walking in the beautiful Peaks; really good place to base yourself (Longnor is only 2 miles away and has all you'll need in the way of shops). There are walks straight from the cottage and we enjoyed the dark skies.

Lovely Cosy Cottage

  • 5 of 5

Stayed for a long weekend with our Grandchildren. My son and daughter in law join us for one night. Plenty of room for all of us. And a well equippted kitchen.

Lovely walks and scenery. Near Buxton and all it's amenities.

Agree with other review that it would have been useful if the towel radiator worked but no big deal. Would definitely stay there again. So peaceful . Had a lovely time.

a cottage full of character

  • 4 of 5

Lovely cottage. Warm and cosy. Only slight difficulty was drying wet walking clothes as towel rail not on and radiators can not be covered but not a big issue. Would certainly think about renting again as such a beautiful location.

Vicarage cottage is bright and welcoming with comfortable furniture and new beds. Modern heating and a log burning stove have recently been installed together with a satellite box for the TV. The cottage was once the drawing room and bedrooms of the Vicarage and the fire place and various period features including shutters take one back into the early 19th century. It has recently been refurbished and is cheerful and attractive. Hollinsclough is a charming friendly village in remarkable country where the sounds are the distant rumble of a passing tractor, cows and chickens going about their daily life and the stream running down to the River Dove.
