A peaceful and gorgeous getaway!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I, our two small children, and our dog had a wonderful stay at Oaks of Eden cottage! Betty and Dick were perfect hosts, very helpful and friendly, made us feel right at home, and even took us on a golf cart tour of the beautiful area! The cottage is quaint, clean and well stocked, we had everything we needed. The cottage is private and peaceful, tucked beneath gorgeous old live oak trees on a very quiet and picturesque road, perfect for walks and/or bike rides. We had a great time and hope to return again soon!

The pictures don't do this cottage justice! It's nestled beneath big beautiful oaks! You can smell the salt from the marsh just behind you and enjoy the deer who freely roam around! It was a great place for our 3 month stay!

Simple Perfection

  • 5 of 5

Upon arrival I was warmly greeted by Jan, the manager. She took me to the cottage via golf cart escort and invited me to a spontaneous low country boil the neighborhood was doing that night, so I wouldn't have to cook, so sweet. The cottage was clean, cozy, had a great kitchen fully stocked with a gas stove, beautiful views out the back sliding glass doors to the gorgeous old oaks with hanging Spanish moss--the view from my "office" while staying there several months. Bikes provided which allowed me to ride everywhere throughout the community, including to the Sapelo Island ferry. The town of Darien, famous for its shrimping, is nearby where you can buy your groceries, along with waterfront restaurants. I met neighbors that will be long time friends, spent many Saturday nights at Bill's fires, enjoying the warmth of the people and wine! The owner's were staying at their home nearby and it was lovely getting to know them. Jan's response to any needs was professional and immediate. I plan to return to this haven of serenity and beauty many times more. Thanks everyone for your Southern hospitality!

Owner's Response: An arrival in the immediate aftermath of Hurricane Matthew and departure during our coldest temperatures.....so glad you enjoyed your stay and our little community on the Georgia Tidewater. We will look for your return now that the Georgia coast has spoken to your soul.

Quiet and relaxing

  • 3 of 5

The oaks of eden cottage was very relaxing. It's a small space but very charming and very clean. The sleeping accommodations were nice as the bed was very comfy and cozy. We encountered tons of deer that pretty much hung around us. That was beautiful. The town is very quaint and friendly as well. The only downside was that myself and my husband picked this place cause we love the woods however, we could not enjoy the scenery because the outside was not very well maintained. The patio furniture was very dirty and filled with spider webs and bugs. At night the back patio was covered with palmetto bugs so we could not enjoy sitting and talking over drinks. The outside of the property really needs to be maintained better because it is a beautiful piece of property. We are very easy going and camp regularly so we are used to the wilderness, but we booked the cottage so we could enjoy both worlds. We were pretty much confined inside. Other than that, we had a nice stay.

Owner's Response: So glad you enjoyed the cottage. It is a gem. We apologize for the spider webs and bugs. Spiders will build webs but the good thing is they eat the bugs. We have since contracted to have the cottage outside area cleaned more regularly. Unfortunately it does not take long for things to get dusty and spider webs to build up during this time of year. Thank you we will definitely put more attention to these details.

Quiet & secluded

  • 5 of 5

Cottage was close to town but was on a quiet street & in a secluded location! It was clean & the kitchen & bathroom had the essentials needed including a washer/dryer. There was a nice back porch with a grill on it & we sat & watched as 3 small deer played in the back. We truly enjoyed our stay! We would stay there again should we ever go back over toward the coast.
