Overview

Photos and Description of this 2 bedroom holiday apartment in Ireland - The Loft at Three Castle Head

Modern style apartment

The Loft at Three Castle Head is a modern attractive barn loft conversion which was created in 2011.

The apartment is set on the land of a large Organic Sheep Farm overlooking the rugged Cliffs of the Atlantic on one of Ireland's most South Westerly Peninsulas, with stunning views of Dunlough Bay and the Mizen Head.

The farm on which the apartment is located has one of the most picturesque and popular walks in this part of West Cork, with magnificent 12th Century Castles and a lake situated on the land, - a 10 minute walk from the house.

It is very popular with Bird Watchers, Whale Watchers, Photographers and Hikers. It is within walking distance to the beautiful Barleycove Beach and a 5 minute drive to the little seaside village of Crookhaven. There are many attractions in the area including The Mizen Vision Lighthouse.

The apartment offers a very comfortable living environment combining modern convenience with rural charm. It boasts a large open plan living area and oak floors. The apartment has two bedrooms, one double and the other with two singles or one double depending on guests requirements. There is a bathroom (with a large bathtub, shower and toilet) and also a separate WC.

The outside of the apartment has a private wooden deck overlooking beautifully landscaped gardens, lawns and ponds.

It is an ideal getaway and combined with The Cottage (also situated on the farm) can cater for larger groups.

Nature Lovers: Three Castle Head is very popular with Bird Watchers - many first sightings of new species to Ireland have taken place here. It is also a very good spot for Whale Watching. Some of the Wildlife here includes Birds, Foxes, Wild Sheep, Rabbits, Seals, Sharks Whales and much more. Three Castle Head is also very popular with people that like hiking, hill walking and photography - as there are an abundance of spectacular mountain and coastal views here.

Activities: There are a lot of things to do in the area including - Horse Riding, Golf, Fishing, Surfing, Canoeing, Hill Walking or just lazing on the beach ( wetsuits, fishing rods and bicycles available for guests).

There are some great Traditional Irish bars in the area., particularly Billies in Crookhaven, there are also some very good restaurants in the area - Herons Cove in Goleen, Blairs Cove and the Good Things Cafe in Durras.

Golf: There are many great Golf Courses in West Cork including the Old Head of Kinsale which is one of the best links courses in the country. There are other nearby links courses in Bantry and Glengarriff.

This was everything that we could of wished for, stunning views in this beautiful part of remote Southern Ireland.

The loft is finished to a high modern spec and the family made sure we were received and well looked after thank you.

Three Castles and the lake is wonderful, and the Landlords in local area are very friendly we would love to take the family back again so relaxing we've told so many friends and family how great it is.

Fantastic Holiday

  • 5 of 5

This was a reunion of family members for Christmas 2014. We could not have chosen better. The location was unbeatable with wonderful views of the coastline from our Barn, a view which we never tired of. The weather was bracing but absolutely wonderful and walking over the property on Mizen Head just great. The views at the Three Castle ruins was breathtaking with the lighting changing at different times of the day.

The Barn was private, warm, cosy and a joy to come home to after a day out visiting the great villages in the area. Cafes and restaurants with delicious local products made for tasty meals.

Amenities in the Barn were fantastic and our hosts, Joanne and Lukas were helpful, friendly but never intrusive. Yvonne and the dogs gave us a wonderful welcome when we arrived. Thank you Yvonne.

Highly recommended and we would love to return.

Such a wonderful, beautiful place ... and such great hosts!

  • 5 of 5

After a late arriving flight, a little challenge in getting there, we arrived quite late and quite exhausted.

No matter, the owners took such good care of us, were welcoming, warm and ensured we got settled right in.

We stayed for a week here and couldn't believe all of the natural beauty that is RIGHT ON THEIR PROPERTY. You don't have to go more than a 10min walk over a couple hills to see old castle ruins. In fact, driving around (or walking around) this beautiful area of Ireland will take a lot more time than you think ... not just because of the narrow winding roads, but because you'll feel compelled to pull over around every corner to take a picture that simply CAN'T be passed up.

The apartment itself has ALL the amenities you could possibly need, and if anything is missing the owners are more than happy to fill the need. Their family-run cafe is on the property too, open five days a week and has great sandwiches and blended fruit drinks. We ate there several times for lunch.

I can't say enough about our stay here. It was truly one of the top highlights of our four weeks in Ireland! (I just hope it isn't TOO booked up the next time we try to stay here!)

here is the paradise!

  • 5 of 5

we came to lukas loft for a week with our little girl(4 years old), and for us it was the paradise: a very beautifull house just next to the sea and with marvellous country all around: you can walk, swim, see animals of their farm, or take your car and visit this marvellous area.

don't hesit: come to lukas'!

Glorious private hideaway at the edge of the world

  • 5 of 5

This loft is perched right at the edge of the world in quite possibly the most beautiful location in Ireland. It is truly breathtaking. The loft is located in the wilds of west Cork, near the most dramatic cliffs, with extraordinary views that stretch forever. You have a short walk over a small mountain to three castle ruins on the edge of a lake, essentially this is all your back garden. You are exposed to the elements in the most essential way - the air revitalises. The loft is also within short drive of the amazing beaches of Barley Cove, which are unmissable for swimming. Truly this is location, location, oh location. We arrived early in the evening, driving until there was no more road, and the lights were on welcoming us in. There is much use of wood in the new conversion, so very warm and comfortable. Also spotless and wonderfully quiet. The main bedroom has views over towards the sea. It was very clean. We had a small problem working out how to switch on the hot water, and the hosts were instantly there to show us (again) how everything worked. This is such a secret special place that you almost don't want to share it, but I have recommended it and will be returning.
