A Rustic and Rural 200 Year Old Farmhouse That Can Sleep 10 Guests.
Finca Lo Martin is a beautiful big farmhouse in a peaceful location as it sits within the Montes de Malaga, an amazing unspoiled area of Andalucia. This 200 year old building can easily sleep 10 but has the facilities to sleep 12 making it one of the best value rentals in this area,if there are babies or toddlers.
Far from being a standard holiday rental this rustic property gives you the real feel of nostalgic rural Spain and makes the rental experience authentic and memorable.
The immediate grounds that are not only home to Ferry and Julie (who reside in Grandma's Cottage, next door) but also their collection of pets which include dogs, cats, and hens.
The feel for the place is homely with fruit, salads and eggs all available fresh and great value.
The patios, terraces and amazing bigger than average Roman stepped swimming pool compliment the farmhouse and then take a back seat as your eyes feast on the amazing views, abundance of local plants, trees and the walks that are begging to be taken. An amazing place.
The nearest village to Finca lo Martin is the stunning mountain village of Comares.
This pretty white village sits hanging off a cliff and has strong Moorish influenced buildings and history, the position of the village means that is will not be commercialised to the main stream tourist trade and the coaches that pour into the villages nearer the coast do not venture this high up, which gives an amazing peaceful environment.
This area is the real Spain, accessible due to it being only 1 hour from Malaga, but unspoilt and in some ways in a time capsule of Olive Groves, Almond Orchards and Orange Trees that drop their fruit into the walkways below.
The experience of renting this amazing farmhouse allows guests to escape the everyday stress of current life whilst either simply relaxing around the pool and grounds or having an agenda that can take in cities such as Malaga and Granada, beaches like Torrox and Nerja with it's famous caves.
There are pretty villages, none as special as Comares that can be searched out and explored in abundance and if you like festivals these take place throughout the year and are plentiful throughout the spring and summer months.
The area lends itself to horse riding, walking, mountain biking, bird watching and many out door facilities.

Heaven on earth
A BIG slice of heaven in the Andalucía mountains. There were 7 of us staying at Finca Lo Martin and we had more than enough space to accommodate us. Everything you could ever want to completely forget the world is here at Finca Lo Martin. The pool is at least 30ft long and deeper than 6ft, so you can really have an awesome time, like we did. Towels are provided and all bedding etc... There's a dish washer and washing machine, big gas cooker, American double door fridge freezer. Views are amazing. The animals added a lot to our stay. Julie and Ferry made us feel very welcome. And they where there for us when we needed them. We definitely will come back!!!
Thank you for a amazing time.
A lovely review from a great group who totally appreciated everything this amazing Farmhouse offers, it is authentic, spacious and in a lovely setting and so pleasing when valued guests enjoy the total experience, thank you once again.
Rural Spain at its best!
We stayed at Finca Lo Martin for a week in July. There was a large group of us (10 in total), but the villa was very spacious, as was the outdoor space. The pool was amazing, with plenty of pool-side space for sun loungers and for the kids to play. The villa is very secluded - with a 10 minute drive to the main road; this is something that we enjoyed about the location - being away from it all! The owners Julie and Ferry live next door and are lovely; not imposing, but always on hand with any help or advice. Julie and Ferry own lots of cats, dogs and even a pig (Peppa)! The kids loved being around the animals, and it really added to the experience of the holiday. Every morning I would take our baby for a walk in the buggy, and the dogs would love to come along to keep me company! The views were simply breath-taking as you will see from the pictures. We made great use of the large gas barbecue in the evenings, and the large seating area was ideal for dining and enjoying a drink.
A lovely review from a family I have helped several times and this lovely Farmhouse was spot on for their needs. The space , location and style of a 200 year old farmhouse can really help with larger groups to enjoy each others company but also get their own space, if you like tranquillity and animals , plus a chance to experience the real Spain then this is the right place for you.
Many thanks once again.
Great rural retreat
Finca lo Martin is a beautiful and wonderful place to stay. It's very remote and excellent if you want to spend some relaxing time as a group. Ferry and Julie are lovely and so are their dogs and cats. I was worried that the animals would affect my asthma and allergies, but the animals aren't allowed in the house so I slept very well each night.
A lovely review from a great group of guests, who totally understood what this amazing farmhouse and lovely unspoiled part of Spain has to offer for a totally relaxing holiday.
Amazing house, amazing surrounding, super holiday
We arrived somewhere at noon with our rental car at the house.
The first we see is a beautifull big house, and we get a nice and warm welcome from a few dogs and Julie.
We had a very plessant stay in this house and if we had any questions we could always knock on Julies and Ferrys door.
We had everything what we need in and around the house.
We really loved the swimming pool and the surrounding views.
The animals around the house were no problem to us, a mather of fact it was quite fun.
We hope to come back sometime
A lovely review from a great Dutch family who really appreciated the lovely farmhouse and area.
Many thanks once again.
A bit of heaven on earth.
We arranged to stay in Finca Lo Martin for a family gathering and from the beginning Julie and Ferry (and David and Jacqui who help with the rentals) were great to work with. My partner and I were traveling in Spain for several months so we were able to go and look at the place before making a decision. My first impression was that the property is very well loved and reflects the generosity of spirit of its owners. Having seen one other property that did not really look as the website described, I was pleased that the reality matched what is presented online for Finca Lo Martin. The house is beautiful, spacious and usefully furnished. The kitchen was the best stocked "self-catering" I have ever encountered. The shaded terrace is great for playing, eating meals, and hanging out. The pool is beautiful and larger than most pools in Spanish holiday villas (again, don't be fooled by photos trying to make a dipping pool into Olympic size). From the pool terrace there are amazing views of the countryside and at night you can watch the moon come up over the hills or stare at the stars. Ferry and Julie provided us with herbs and vegies and we bought eggs from their chickens. The dogs went on walks with us (even our midnight full moon walk) and were a constant and comforting presence. Lola the pig is indeed a star. We had three children with us and all the animals (even the cats) were affectionate and calm and did not seem to mind the occasional hug/maul approach of little ones. One of the mums in our group said that it will be pretty impossible to take a holiday anywhere in the future that does not supply cuddly pets on site.
Finca Lo Martin is made for people who like to venture off the beaten track and get away from the crowds. It is rustic but comfortable and beautifully decorated in a warm and homely way. The kind of place you want to go back to again.
This is such a lovely review and really puts into words what this amazing farmhouse offers as a very special and stunningly beautiful holiday rental.
Thank you for understanding what it is we are looking to achieve with this incredible house and appreciating that the advert is as honest as we hoped it would be and paints a true picture.
How to get away from it all!
Finco lo Martin is a really beautiful and sympathetically restored traditional Andalucian Farmhouse. Such attention to detail meant that we didn't want for anything during our stay. A real home from home. The pool was an oasis and the house and grounds were just lovely. The animals added a lot to our stay; listening out for Lola the pig on her afternoon wander, saying hello to the dogs and cats. Julie, Ferry & family made us feel very welcome; they were there if you needed them. The location of the house meant that if you were looking for peace & quiet and stunning views - that's exactly what you got. Found the drive to the house a little hair raising but since we were happy to hole up there apart from a couple of short trips into lovely Comares, that wasn't an issue. A truly relaxing and luxurious break. I would not hesitate in going back and have done nothing but talk about it to friends to the point we might need to talk commission!

What a lovely review from another happy guest. we are very proud that all our valued guests are really enjoying this stunning and tranquil part of Spain and also that all our hard work has given us a wonderful farmhouse that is fully appreciated.
Thank you very much once again for a great review.
Tranquil, Peaceful and Stunning are all descriptions which relate to this amazing area of Andalucia, close enough to add city trips such as Malaga and Granada to your agenda, the Alhambra Palace is a must and Finca lo Martin is realistically positioned to visit the famous caves of Nerja.
Within an hour there are stunning villages and amazing beaches, within 2 you can be nearly in Gibraltar or have stopped and shopped in Marbella or seen the riches of Puerto Banus .
This amazing area of the Mountains of Malaga is great to explore and wonderful to spend your holiday in.
The local land still has olives and almonds dripping of the trees and this amazing beautifully restored Farmhouse with private pool blends into the surroundings perfectly.
Walking through the cobbled streets of the village is a delight. Not only is there a timeless, peaceful atmosphere throughout, but you can take a sub-conscious history lesson as you walk. The coloured ceramic tiles which decorate the village tell the story of Comares’ place in Spanish history since the 3rd century BC. The remaining ruins of the huge Moors fortress of Comares tells a little of the story itself, but there is little remaining.
There are a handful of fantastic bars in Comares, a couple of exceptional restaurants and many doorstep stalls selling local wine, raisins, almonds, olives, honey and cheese. The local produce is mouth watering, and the little doorstep shops make cooking in a self catering Comares villa or apartment an absolute delight. During the St Hilairo de Poitiers festival from the 25th – 27th August each year, Comares springs into life, transforming form a sleepy, sun-drenched village to become a haven of activity, music, dance and food.
Comares lies just outside the Malaga Mountains Nature Park, a wonderful area of mountains, river valleys and thick forests awash with wildlife. The park is a fantastic place to walk and climb, surrounded by some of the finest views to be found across Andalucia, and in amongst the indigenous wildlife of the region.
