Had a great stay!
Other than the a.c. not able to keep the bathroom cool enough, tho that's not a biggie, all was great! We will try to stay there again!
We had a wonderful stay and would not hesitate to stay here again.
Everything was fine and we really loved the shower/ bathroom. Everything was as stated. We brought our own towels and washcloths, so we didn't have a problem there. We would recommend this property to any couple.
Not soo much..but you are close to the beach
First things first- it advertises a TV with satellite cable and a dvd player. What it actually is, is an outdated TV that has 1 (one) working channel. Not a huge deal to me because I don't watch, or have, a TV at home; but for all the TV loving folks out there- this would be a No-Go (we were holed up for 1 day while the tropical depression moved through so TV would have been nice). Next, there is NO washer or Dryer, even though it states there is.
The towel/washcloth that is provided feels like sandpaper, so I recommend just bringing your own. Not to mention, the 'towel' is half the size of a normal bath towel. Bed linens were fine. There is no comfortable furniture in the 'apartment'...especially the bed. I didn't sleep the entire time I was here.
The bed made a lot of noise and was extremely uncomfortable. BRING YOUR OWN PILLOWS! The ones provided have lost their luster and are completely flat.
I did like the kitchen as it basically had everything I needed, minus a sharp knife. But I stay enough places to know better, so I always bring my own knives anyway. Being able to cook is important to me when I'm away.
The bathroom was fine. Although, there was NO shower curtain liner, so the decorative curtain got soaked everytime we showered.
Obviously, the location was Great. 2 blocks from the beach!
We had no problems with the rental company, probably in part because we didn't need them for anything once we picked up the key.
It was clean when we got here. I never felt like I had to clean anything before using it. There is a ceiling fan in the bedroom, which was nice for us because we don't like a lot of AC.
Truthfully, I would not stay here again... like I said before, the furniture, especially the bed, was uncomfortable. It may not be an issue for everyone, so take what I say with a grain of salt. You are basically paying to be close to the beach, and not much else.
Go to The Pepperoni Grill. Fun little restaurant and good pizza, good service.
Cute, private, clean!
This place really is only 1 minute away from the beach (about 4 houses). The beach was amazing, was not crowded at all. The apartment was nice, perfect for just me and my fiancé. The only thing I would suggest is to add a clear shower curtain that goes inside the tub, give more towels/rags, wash the comforters, and fix the solar lights outside. There are no street lights and we had to walk to the back of the house where our apartment was located. It was too dark to see anything. Bed was really bouncy, hard and squeaky but it worked for us. Bathroom has really huge sink that we loved, and nice shower. One bad thing about this area is there's no where really good to eat. We ate at about 5 or 6 different places and they were OK. But I definitely would come back just for the beach and room!!!
We absolutely loved this pllace. Perfect size with all the amenities, five houses from a glorious beach that we walked day and night. Even got the chance at two one morning, under a full moon and a smattering of Perseid meteors, to watch infant loggerhead turtles hatch and make their way down a path carved through the sand by residents of Oak Island (which might also be called Turtle Island) to Mother Ocean. You will absolutely adore this place and we plan to book it again next summer.
An unpleasant stay in an ideal location
First things first, the proximity to the beach was just fantastic. Being able to walk down every day was definitely the highlight of our stay. That said, we were rather disappointed with the property itself and with the information, or lack thereof, provided about our stay.
We found the mattress to be inexcusably cheap (noisy and uncomfortable). The cleaning company provided towels and linens, and while the towels were consistent with a budget hotel experience, no self-respecting hotel or motel would have kept such shoddy linens in use.
The TV dates from 1993, and didn't seem to work, but that could have been entirely our fault. Being at the beach, this was not our focus, and we didn't ask anyone to fix it. We also noticed other electrical issues with the unit, like non-working outlets and the lack of an exhaust fan in the bathroom (which, incidentally, is accessed via a clear glass pane door).
When we first arrived we found the shower drain to be clogged. To their credit, when we notified the rental agency of the issue they had someone there to fix it within half an hour.
Generally, no information specific to the property or our interactions with the rental agency was provided. Upon making a reservation, they very promptly made contact to confirm it and shortly thereafter provided a rental contract to sign. At that time they advised us that we would be contacted prior to our arrival with access instructions - this did not occur. The hours listed for check-in on their website were incorrect, and when we spoke to them by phone and in person they provided no information about how to pick up or drop off keys after hours. We were able to easily find the house from the address, but had no information about parking spaces, where to enter our specific unit, or the existence/location of the hose we could use (it was tucked away behind the house).
In short, this unit may be worth considering if your primary concern is cost and proximity to the beach. Really what we wanted was a place to sleep and shower, and found it pretty lackluster in both of those respects.
