Architect's loft overlooking the river Seine

If you want to discover Paris on foot, this is the place to be!

Our beautiful architect-designed apartment lies in the very heart of Paris at Châtelet in the first arrondissement.

Located on the top floor of an 18th century listed building on a quiet, leafy street opposite Théâtre de Paris and one of the city's most romantic flower markets.

A ten minute stroll in any direction takes you to some famous landmarks including the river Seine, Ile de la Cité, Centre Pompidou and the Louvre museum.

Our apartment has stunning views and has been simply modernised whilst retaining its historic features.

The living area has a south facing balcony, an inviting sofa area, well-equipped with books, satellite TV, DVDs and CDs, as well as Wi-Fi.

We often stay ourselves and love to gather around our big oak dining table.

You will enjoy playing chef in the well equipped kitchen and the view of the twinkling river at night certainly takes the edge off the washing up!

The apartment is a home from home for us and we hope for you too.

About Clare Ash

We are an Anglo American Academic family who live in London but met at Stanford University as Grad students. We have spent sabbaticals in the States and Paris and have by now grown to a family of 5 daughters and 11 Grandchildren--all of whom have spent some time in Paris and in this apartment. So we share it with you as house guests- albeit paying- but we leave everything ready for the stay of friends , not commercial tenants.

Why Clare Ash chose 1st Louvre

It is surrounded by beautiful buildings and the history of Paris envelopes you in every direction. It is quiet, comfortable and easy to live in. The neighbourhood is very safe and the little local restaurants excellent. A taxi stand, the metro and buses are all within a block: the River Boat is further away- two blocks at Pont-Neuf !

What makes this apartment unique

All rooms face South with French windows and small balconies.

We are not overlooked and sky lights in the bathroom and hall help fill the apartment with light. We have architects in the family so you will find a lot of thought has gone into the design and the details.

Our favourite view is watching the boats on the Seine from the kitchen sink, but the views of Ste Chapelle and Hôtel de Ville are also hard to beat.

Most of all, coming to our apartment allows us to become Paris residents with the freedom to construct a daily routine according to whim without restriction but with all essentials laid on.

Visited Paris for one week in May. The apartment was perfect in every way. The location allowed walking access to many venues - museums (Louvre, Orangerie, Pompidou, D'Orsay, Rodin, Picasso), churches (Sainte-Chappelle, Notre Dame) , shopping ( I liked Deyrolle and Alexandra Sojfer), Seine, markets galore, Hotel de Ville, Victor Hugo, Bastille, etc. Some short distances, some longer distances. Metro is close by and taxis are readily available. The apartment itself is very nicely situated with a lift, a well stocked kitchen and excellent water pressure in the shower - plus 3 balconies!! The beds were comfy. Scrumptious boulangerie located below the apartment - my favorite was the apricot croissant. Very decent market a block away. Some decent restaurants and cafes near by but I recommend eating in the various neighborhoods across Paris. Definitely recommend this flat.

central and cosy at the same time

We had a very nice stay in Paris! Everything worked fine, Mme W. welcomed us at the apartment and explained everything to us, and we were really enchanted by the nice views to Théâtre du Châtelet and the Seine. But in particular my parents and I liked very much the decoration of the apartment that is quite functional and very cosy at the same moment – a combination you can't find very often. (My mother was absolutely enthused about the well organised kitchen cupboards, including the little tags indicating which item had to be where!) Thanks to the very central situation of the apartment we could discover quite a lot of Paris, and even with my old father who is not very quick on his feet anymore we could do some walks to Notre Dame, to the Quartier Latin or to Marais, and for the longer distances we could easily take a cab. So our stay in Paris really was a raving success!

Perfect location, exactly what you picture your Paris vacation should be!

The apartment is located within easy walking distance to The Louvre, Notre Dame, Saint Chapelle as well as the Metro. There is a wonderful boulangerie right on the street as well as a great restaurant (yellow awning) we loved. Booking this apartment was so easy and a complete pleasure to deal with, highly recommend and would stay in this apartment anytime I came to Paris!!!!!

Wonderful

Stayed in the Flat for 4 days in July with my wife and 2 sons. Perfect location for us to walk to most of the tourist sites in Paris. Good bakery downstairs for rolls and coffee in the morning. Many restaurants nearby. 2 Shopping malls within 10 minute walk. Metro stop around the corner for convenient transit to trains stations and RER.

The caretaker met us at the property and provided instructions for the TV, WiFi and washing machine. No Surprises, rent with confidence, I would recommend this unit for rental to friends and family.

Wonderful apartment in Central Paris

Our stay at 29 Rue de Victoria was delightful. This 2 bedroom/1 bath apartment is on the top floor of a historic building in the heart of Les Halles (Arrondisement 1). It is very close to Ile de la Cite with peek-a-boo view of the Seine river from the kitchen. I would guess that it is roughly 700 square feet. It is not opulent but works completely fine as a centrally located apartment. There is a small elevator to get to this penthouse apartment. I traveled with my sister and we each had a large suitcase. We needed to use the elevator independently to get our luggage to/from our apartment but it was not a big deal. Once settled, there is room for two people to use the elevator. This is very important because using the stairs up/down are spiral and will make you dizzy one you reach the top/bottom. There are wonderful restaurants in the area...and a bakery two doors away that we used for our morning coffee. Rue du Rivoli is just two blocks away...the Pont St. Micheal (bridge) to Notre Dame is also just two blocks away. We used Uber frequently and the drivers had absolutely no problems finding the unit. Most importantly, I would definitely stay at this apartment again when I return to Paris. My sister and I really loved it.

Location, Location, Location

Stayed one week in Paris apartment. There were no suprises. The apartment was exactly as described. Excellent location, nicely appointed and the balconies and lift are supreme. Stayed with a friend and the size was really nice for the 2 of us. The water pressure in the shower was perfect and we had plenty of hot water. Also, the kitchen has everthing you need . We walked everywhere, visited no less than 8 museums. Attended the opera and a classical music concert at a nearby church - both places within walking distance. Ate at a few nearby restaurants but trully experienced the various neighborhoods to get a better sense of all of Paris. Loved the Rodin museum, and found Sainte-Chappelle extraordinary. Go close to 1pm so when the church closes for lunch, you truly experience the quietness. Visited many gardens, some formal, some less - all were satisfactory. Not a big shopper but loved Deyrolle and the Alexandra Sojfer store. Visited many Revolutionary locations - wish I had brought my Les Miserables music. Enjoyed the Victor Hugo house. Aprtment has a very decent market close by and the Boulangerie downstairs is yummy. Truly recommend the apartment.

Fabulous Apartment

This is a wonderful apartment in an incredible location.

My husband, teenage daughter and I were very comfortable in this apartment. It is full of natural light, has wonderful balconies, and a full kitchen. The apartment was quite and had views of the Seine. Ms Willis greeted us at the apartment and gave a thorough walk through and instructions. I love this place and would be thrilled to stay there again.

The location cannot be beat. First off, an incredible boulangerie is downstairs. Sometimes we woke to the smell of fresh bread. The apartment is a mile or so from Notre Dame, Saint Chappelle, the Pompidou, and the Louvre. The Cluney, Orsay, l'orangerie, museum of decorative arts, and the Tuilleries were just a little further. We walked everywhere and did not even use the extensive metro system. Wonderful bistros were dotted throughout the surrounding neighborhoods. The location cannot be beat.

My family and I highly recommend this wonderful apartment.

Steeped in history, with buildings from the 18th and 19th century on one side and the Théâtre Musical de Paris on the other, we are just one block north of the Quai Megisserie which runs across the Seine with bookstalls and flower markets.

Place Châtelet with the gilded victory atop a column and surrounding fountains has claim to be the centre of Paris.

A 10 min walk south takes you across the bridge to the Ile de la Cité and Notre-Dame. To the east, the Hôtel de Ville; to the north, Centre Pompidou, to the west, the Louvre museum.

We are at the crossroads of all transport: Metro, RER, buses and vélib (street bikes).

If, like us, you are passionate about food then this is a great part of the city to base yourself in.

One of the country's oldest and most loved gourmet food markets on Rue Montorgueil is a short walk away, whilst below our apartment is one of the best boulangeries in Paris.

Shopping, sightseeing, cultural entertainments and, of course, great and varied places to eat are within easy reach.

Other Activities: shopping, museums, theatres, cinemas, antiques, fitness centre.
