Modern, spacious, 3 bedroom apartment with Matterhorn Views

Haus Vallverde (120 m2) is a spacious modern three bedroom apartment located in a lovely position near the old chapel in Winkelmatten, a tranquil area on the outskirts of Zermatt. Small supermarket, restaurants and local bus stop just a two minute walk, an 8 minute walk to the Matterhorn cable car departure station and a further 3 minutes to the village centre. Hiking / skiing trails on your doorstep. The apartment is on the ground floor and comprises of one twin bedroom and two doubles one with en-suite bathroom, (bath/shower/WC), second bathroom (shower/WC). There is a fully equipped open-plan kitchen with a spacious dining / lounge area, leading to a south facing terrace and garden with spectacular views of the Matterhorn. This apartment is uniquely furnished to a very high standard and is equipped with a plasma television with cable channels (English programmes), DVD, CD/Radio and Internet connection. Housekeeping, shopping, and other services available on request at this apartment.

Perfect in every way

This apartment is absolutely perfect. We are a family with three small kids, and we have stayed her in winter and summer and hope to come back soon. As another reviewer has said, the organisation and service of the company that runs this chalet makes the difference that will ensure you have an enjoyable and relaxing holiday.

The apartment is spacious, with a fully equipped open plan luxury kitchen, two bathrooms, a huge master bedroom and blackout blinds in the bedrooms (useful for those who wish to encourage their kids to sleep!) The garden is a huge plus; the kids can just run outside; eat outside in sunny weather and enjoy the grass, the rock garden, or build snowmen in the field beyond if it's that time of year. The location is absolutely exceptional. There is a direct view to the matterhorn; on clear nights you see the climbers torches going up the ridge. On warm sunny days the kids can run down to the village with no complaints; if you don't feel like walking back or have shopping to carry there is a very frequent bus service (the red line) which runs pretty late and stops 30m from the door. There is also a supermarket and playground one minute away from the apartment; we felt so confident with the car free environment that we could send our kids there alone.

You can walk directly up from the chalet into spectacular places without having to even go near a cable car - for instance if you go to findeln (about 1-2 hours up) you find a superb mountain restaurant called chez vrony (check out their website) and if you are more energetic can continue to the amazing grunsee, then walk or get the train down. Of course if you go into zermatt you have an almost infinite choice of hikes and outings. For skiing the kids snow park at sunnegga is exceptionally good (and free) and also a great playground in summer.

The apartment has a (very welcome) welcome; taxi to the apartment and introduction, with lots of tourist information provided and a welcome plate of fruit and a bottle of wine! The people that run this chalet know zermatt inside out; in normal circumstances you won't need to contact them during your stay, but if you do they will be able to help (as they did very effectively when we had a medical emergency with one of our kids shortly after arriving on one occasion).

We shouldn't really post this review because we shouldn't let out the secret of this wonderful apartment - please don't book it when we want to stay next time...

Stunning views

This was a very beautiful apartment in a lovely location. The description was accurate and the service provided was exellent with some extra touches not received at other properties I have visited. I would recommend to a friend without any hesitation. Zermatt itself is a beautiful village in a stunning location. Whilst there we used a pass that allowed us access to all the trains and cable cars in Zermatt and enjoyed some spectacular views in every direction. Zermatt is a hikers paradise. Although the pass was quite expensive we thought it was worth every penny. Try the Cervin Palace Hotel swimming pool lovely for a relaxing afernoon in the sun.

The car free resort of Zermatt is situated at the foot of the Matterhorn in Switzerland and offers access to a ski area of over 400km, connected to Cervinia in Italy. The village is situated at 1560m and with the highest cable car at 3888m it ensures excellent skiing in the winter & great glacier skiing in the summer. A climbers and hikers paradise with 38 peaks over four-thousand metres and breath-taking views Zermatt has something to suit everyone.

During the summer, off-season and on last minute bookings special offers & short breaks (min 3 days) are available. A supplement of CHF150 will be applied.

Preferred payment method is by bank transfer

A deposit payment of 30% of the total rental price is required within 10 days to secure the booking.
The balance payment is to be paid 45 days before the stated arrival date.
Preferred payment method is by bank transfer in Swiss Francs. We also accept credit card payments with a 2.8% surcharge.
