About Mrs Sonia

Hallo everyone! My name is SONIA and I am from Lucca. I run my Lucca Holiday Rentals company that offers exceptional apartments in the heart of Lucca. My goal is to help you fall in love with Lucca – to discover, explore, taste and savor new sights and experiences in this incredible city.

My company began almost 10 years ago when I started to rent my family villa after my parents moved to the mountains when they got retired. I spent there my entire childhood and I grew up there in deep contact with the nature and the history. My father thaught me everything about the birds and the antique trees and flowers of the villa and the smell of the sizzling pans used to wake me up each Sunday morning after my mum started to cook! I was fascinated by her when she was telling me the history of the villa in the past century. I thought this kind of feelings are too precious to let them go so then I had the idea to share my love of Lucca and “la dolce Vita” by finding beautiful apartments , villas and farmhouses in my favorite Lucca neighborhoods among my family members properties. Lucca Holiday Rentals started out as a boutique family company and now there are over 15 people working together. We are a friendly and enthusiastic team who will assist you every step of the way, from your first enquiry to your arrival in Lucca.

Mrs Sonia purchased this farmhouse in 2011

Lucca Villa with pool in an ideal location

  • 5 of 5

Sonia and Valentina did an outstanding job making our stay at the villa absolutely superb. Time and again, all week long, Sonia organized activities == teaching us how to make pizza in the 500-year-old stone oven in the rear of the villa, taking us up to meet a blacksmith/artisan whose family forge had been operating for hundreds of years, and connecting us with a local cook who prepard a fantastic Italian meal. In the evenings, we enjoyed a variety of Italian wines looking out over the city lights of Lucca and Florence from the patio. The accommodations were first class -- and there was so much to see and do. Our group of three couples found this the best week in almost 15 years of annual get togethers.

history and romance

  • 5 of 5

Driving up the "hill" to Villa Pallina you begin to realize that you are entering a slice of Tuscan reality. As you see the farmers tending their gardens or olive trees, the grape vines growing along the hill sides, and the local dogs lounging in the road you know that you are driving to some place special. Our group was immediately in love with the Villa and feel even deeper after hearing of its rich history and the love and romance that it holds within it walls. The views are breath taking and be sure to make the climb behind the Villa to the back side of the hill to be even more pleasantly surprised. The Villa is conveniently located to to many of the must see sites of Italy so get ready for an adventure of a life time. I have rented from Mrs Sonia for several times and I am already in love with her rentals.

The best in Tuscany

  • 5 of 5

We are a group of 6 adults who enjoy cooking and drinking wine. What a perfect match to Villa Pallina! The cooking class and pizza night with Christina were highlights at the villa, and "Butterfly" restaurant was spectacular! We enjoyed other culinary finds on our day trips in the area. The view from the villa is the best in Tuscany!

Tuscan Dream; This villa is fabulous/gorgeous!!!!!

  • 5 of 5

This was my dream vacation come true! Just myself and my 2 daughters; wrote this poem and leaving a few comments that follow below it.

Tuscan Dream

Sweet summer days of 2015

Three women from the states

Left homes from Iowa and Texas

To approach these heavenly gates

A mother and two daughters

Long awaited, without a doubt

Proceeding from Florence to Lucca

Despite all those “roundabouts!”

What a comfort, there to greet us

Such a sweetheart was Gabriella

Helpful mother so eager to please

Lovely smile; always molto bella!

Along with young Valentina

Speaking English with style and grace

So thankful for all her patience

Brining joy with her pretty face

Adolfo so very helpful

So nice that he lived near

To offer any assistance

Personality gentle and dear

The friendly Elisabetta

At the handy and quaint little bar

Short walk just around the corner

No need to go by car

We requested a local cook

Lovely Cristina was superb

From selections to presentations

The best right down to every herb

Sharing lots of information

Along with delicious cuisine

In the kitchen as well as our hearts

She will always remain our queen

As for the villa, oh so special

Gently awakened by the birds

Each evening bringing church bells

Both blessings to be heard

Towels dancing on the clothesline

While I sit beneath olive trees

Sun shines upon the lemons

Fragrant jasmine rides the breeze

Above upon the terrace

Sweeping pallet of endless hues

Such a moment to remember

Breathtaking is the view

Delicious meats and cheeses

Paired daily with fine wine

The magic this is Lucca

Could be no more divine

Your language very beautiful

We love to hear you speak

Grazie, ciao and prego

All we could learn in just one week!

Dear Lucca is a dream come true

We will miss your mountains and hills

The majesty of your mighty walls

Our fantasy trip fulfilled

The memories of Casale Valentina

Will rest within my bones

And pieces of our hearts

Will remain within its’ stones

The time has to leave you

Arrivederci we must say

Prego, ciao and grazie

May we return in future days!

Only suggestions are to definitely meet the owners at a specified place if you have never been to Italy and renting a car; driving is very different and hard to navigate, especially on the "roundabouts" and narrow roads.

Only other is to get instructions on how to use the washer and where the breaker box is!

Beautiful House in a Tranquil Yet Convenient Location

  • 5 of 5

Our family of four just returned from a fantastic two weeks at this beautiful villa! This was our first trip to Italy and we could not have wished for a more perfect place to stay.

We were warmly welcomed by Gabriela, Adolfo and their charming and helpful daughter Valentina. They greeted us with a delicious cake and nice bottle of wine from a local vineyard. Gabriella and Valentina gave us a tour of the house and property, making sure that we had everything that we needed. Adolfo gave us helpful information on where to find good local restaurants and food stores. It was very nice to meet such a kind and friendly family. Thank you for an unforgettable vacation!!!

The Villa itself was even more beautiful than the photos... thanks to the sounds of church bells, chirping birds and the smell of lavender and rosemary. The views from inside and outside the house are truly breathtaking! We felt like we were in a movie!

The interior of the villa is cozy, clean and beautifully decorated. The beds were very comfortable with fresh quality linens. The bathrooms and kitchen were perfect. The swimming pool was great after a long day of sight seeing!

The local shop and vineyard owners were very kind and had everything that we needed. (Maria, who owns the local vineyard produces delicious wine & olive oil) Some of our favorite evenings were spent sitting on the patio, admiring the olive trees, over a glass of wine, cheese, bread and olive oil.

The private location is conveniently located close to Lucca, Viareggio beaches, Cinque Terre, Pisa, Voltera, & Florence. If you are ambitious you can even take a day trip to Rome via speed train from Florence.

Thank you also to Mrs. Sonia who made booking this house very pleasant and easy.

We hope that we will be able to visit again in the near future!!!

Perfect for relaxing and enjoy local culture

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here in July for two weeks. There were 6 of us in total including my husband and I, our two kids ages 6 and 12, and my parents. The house was very roomy for all of us! The house is located about 10-12 min outside of the walls of Lucca up in the hills. Valentina and her parents were excellent hosts to us! They greeted us in the village and took us to the home and gave us a thorough overview of everything. Valentina provided recommendations and directions on nearby grocery stores as well as restaurants and wineries in the area. She was so very helpful and we loved her parents too! They were so gracious and helpful! The home is very nicely decorated, clean, and well-equipped. The kids loved the pool of course and I loved cooking in the kitchen! They have all the tools you need! We very much enjoyed having breakfast or dinner on the long table on the patio overlooking the yard with all the wonderful plants, flowers, and herbs. There is a beautiful view from the upstairs bedroom overlooking the surrounding Tuscan hills - we woke up to a beautiful sunrise there that we won't soon forget! We used the clothes washer several times while we were there and that worked quite well, which was helpful. We also visited the local bar in Aquilea some evenings after dinner for a nice icy cold shot of Lemoncello and got to meet some locals, which was very fun! Nice to hike up to the church and soccer field too, where we got to see some local kids soccer teams play which was nice! You hear the church bells in the mornings and longer on the weekends, which just fits in perfectly with the beautiful surroundings. I would highly recommend this villa for anyone looking to get away and be out amongst the locals to experience true Tuscany! Florence is a short train ride away (catch train in Lucca) and Forte dei Marmi beach as well as the Cinque Terra are all close via car! Visit the winery nearby that Valentina recommends (some bottle were left for us on the counter to try); the wine maker is "Max". They do a beautiful tasting on the patio overlooking the entire Lucca valley - just amazing and the wine is very good!!! Thank you for a wonderful stay!
