What a delight to be able to see England for the first time from the perspective of Little Bucksteep. The setting is so relaxing, beautiful and so easy on the eyes and ears. I have enjoyed listening to the birds waking up in the morning and closing down the day. A more relaxing outing I can’t imagine than the time spent in the cottage with friends I love. Close to airports, ferries and London. Set in beautiful countryside, with lovely old pubs. Very generous use of private pool and tennis court. Bikes for hire on the property. Glyndebourne is close by with world class opera. Beautiful gardens abide in this part of Sussex. If the pool becomes dull, the beach is within an hours drive too.

The Oast is special because it is old and beautiful and we have tried to furnish it in character with lovely old pieces, together with beautiful Egyptian cotton bed linen. The open plan dining room/ kitchen is a lovely large sunny room and flooded with light. Guests have very generous use of a private swimming pool and tennis court. The huge 4 poster bed in the top roundel bedroom is a gorgeous luxury. There is a large gas fired BBQ for alfresco dining, and a wood burning stove in the sitting room for cooler nights. The Oast is full of character with beautiful old beams, and gorgeous views of the garden, particularly lovely in spring with daffodils and summer with flowers and roses.
We also offer luxury pampering weekends which incorporate fantastic Lotte Berk ballet barre exercise classes, together with massage and beauty treatments.
4 bicycles on the property which guests may rent during their stay.
Thank you for a lovely stay, for tasting the fruit from the garden and the artichokes, and the warm welcome and your sweet pets.
We all had a great time at Little Bucksteep Oast. The location is very good for visiting the many attractions that East Sussex and Kent have to offer. Brighton, Lewes, Hastings, Battle, Rye, Camber sands and many more are within easy reach from LBO and yet LBO is in a very peaceful location. LBO is surrounded by beautiful gardens which are in themselves set in rural surroundings. The property itself is a converted oast mostly dating back several hundred years however it has a modern feel to it. Two of the three bedrooms are located in the 'oast'. One is a double in a very generously sized room and the other is located upstairs towards the top of the oast and contains the most enormous 4 poster bed I have ever seen! It felt as though I needed to text my wife to check to see if she was in the other side of the bed! I would however like to point out that in my 30 years of marriage holiday beds have tended to be a bit of a let down in terms of comfort on my wife's part. Not this bed at LBO! 'One of the most comfortable ever' according to my dearly beloved! The third bedroom is located off a landing as you go up to the top bedroom. This is a delightful twin (+1) room which floods with light from 3 windows.
Back downstairs there is a large sitting room in the main part of the old oast. This is complete with log burner and I would think would be al lovely cosy room on a cold evening (we were blessed by good weather so didn't have the need to test this out!). Past the lounge there is a really good shower room (upstairs there is a modern bathroom with shower over bath) and a utility area with washing machine. This then leads through into a great kitchen/ dining/living space where we spent most of our evening time (when not outdoors). This is a superb space for gathering to eat, talk, play games etc. The kitchen has everything you could need (including dishwasher!) and the dining table could easily seat 10 or more around it. The sitting area is comfortable and overlooks patio and gardens. Outside the 3 burner gas BBQ was well used (there is also a traditional Weber charcoal type of BBQ if this is your preference) and of course the tennis court and swimming pool. Overall a great time was had by all. Our group was 2 x 53yrs, 2 x 21 yrs and 2 x 18yrs but I would think all age ranges could enjoy a stay at LBO. Our only disappointment was that we could only be there for 1 week - you really need more!
PS Nearly forgot the 2 lovely Dalmations and the cat!
Two families with 3 kids had a really enjoyable and memorable time here at the Oasthouse. Despite the poor weather, kids loved the pool and tennis court, the house was quality throughout. Spacious and characterful, everything was provided for. Wifi and mobile access a bit patchy but ok. Lovely hosts. Thank you we felt right at home.
We enjoyed a great week in the oast house. Our adult children stayed over the weekend and enjoyed using the tennis court. Very spacious holiday property with lovely views, very comfortable four poster bed and well equipped kitchen. Very useful having 2 living areas so anyone not wanting to watch TV could escape into a different room. We had exceptionally good weather for early May and therefore managed to make use of the pool as well as the tennis courts, Had a very nice meal at the Horse and Groom, Rushlake Green and afternoon tea at Fir Trees Tea Room in Penshurst, near Tunbridge Wells. Appreciated the home made apple juice & jam in fridge on arrival plus other goodies left by Fiona & Robert for our arrival. I'd recommend it for families and groups of friends.
We stayed here for a week in late August and were very pleased. The Oast house was clean, comfortable and well appointed. We had our own garden, tennis court, and pool-though the weather didn't permit our taking full advantage on this stay. Our host, Fiona and Robert, were very welcoming-as we had shipped some specialty foods items in advance that awaited our arrival. Located in the beautiful East Sussex countryside it was initially a little difficult to locate, but after a quick phone call to our host redirected us to our comfortable vacation home.
Oast house is a charming old house with lots of space for a big family. The big beds in the oast house were the pleasure of the children. They felt like prince and princess.
We spent a lot of time on the tennis court and the pool, when the weather was good and luckily we had some very nice sunny days.
The owners are very friendly and helpful and the two dogs were a great pleasure to the children. They were always looking for them.
The kitchen is big and well equipped with all electrical appliances you need.
The surrounding area is lovely and peaceful with a lot of birds, sheep etc.
The beach is not far away and we had a lot of fun collecting piles of shells and stones in every shape and colour.
At Heathfield we found three groceries where we got everything what we needed.
It was a nice relaxing holiday that we enjoyed.
Jochen, Conny, Lea(11) and Daniel(8) from Germany
We had a wonderful week here. The property are gardens are beautiful, and we had such fun on the tennis court and in the swimming pool. Fiona and Robert were very friendly and there were lots of thoughtful welcoming touches at the house. We highly recommend it!
