Enfield House Holiday cottage is in a rural hamlet in Mid-Devon. Its geographic position gives exceptional access to the Cathedral city of Exeter and its many cultural and shopping possibilities and the option to explore two very different but equally beautiful coastlines, with RHS, National Trust, and Heritage sites close by. The cottage is equipped with leaflet and maps to help you explore.
Our self-catering holiday cottage has its own parking area, and private entrance. The well-equipped kitchen features washing machine, dishwasher, microwave, built in cooker, induction hob, extractor and under counter fridge and freezer, plus the usual pots and pans. The dining area has a smoked glass table with four chairs and wooden shelving for crockery. Under the stairs we have sited a useful expanding boot rack and coat hooks.
Upstairs there is a good size bedroom equipped with king size bed (tempur like mattress and John Lewis linen), drawers and full lenght mirror. The shower room has two sturdy grab rails inside the shower which is bigger inside than it looks. The snug is at the back of the cottage, it has a large sofa, armchair, TV/DVD wooden cupboard, pouf, smart TV (suitable for streaming) with the usual free channels and DVD player with a small selection of DVD's. This room has excellent and far reaching views over the garden and fields beyond – most of the year these fields have sheep and lambs or cows and calves in.
Tucked away in the airing cupboard on the landing you will find clothes airer (there is a rotary line outside), iron and small ironing board and spare blankets.
Outside your holiday cottage has its own private patio area that catches the sun for most of the day, bistro table and chairs are provided as well as two relaxing sun loungers. The patio area has a well planted hedge between the it and owners garden for privacy, with a low trellis fence so you don’t lose the remarkable views of the garden, pond, fields and wildlife. During the day you will see a variety of different birds, maybe a shy snake and cheeky squirrels or a deer, by night you will hear owls and see bats, larger nocturnal animals do wander the gardens, but are harder to catch sight of. Clouds permitting the stars are stunning we never tire of looking up.
Enfield house holiday cottage has full public liabilty insurance. It complies with a fire risk assessment, has 2 x fire extinguishers - one on each floor, a fire blanket near the hob, has kitchen and landing smoke detectors and a handy fire escape ladder in the bedroom. It also has a 2018 Health and Safety risk assessment.
In addition to the animals in the fields at the end of the garden (the cows are ruby reds), if you walk the local lanes you will see the local dairy herd (black and white), more sheep, horses, cats from the local farm and possibly a fox. We do recommend bringing some sturdy boots if you wish to follow the many footpaths across the fields or walk in the local woods – they’re also quite useful if you plan to visit Dartmoor or Clovelley with its hard cobbled streets that descend to the seafront.
We are sorry but we ask that you do not bring pets into the property or smoke inside. All visitors are asked to comply with our terms and conditions of rental please ask for a copy.
