Home Owner called repeatedly
The home owner contacted me repeatedly alleging problems with VRBO , saying he had not been paid . He threatend to change the locks to force me to interceed in his behalf to VRBO.
Many text messages and calls about his payment which was paid to VRBO .
Very upsetting that home owner would place his burdens on me the traveler . Never sure if he would indeed change the locks at any time , I felt very uncomfortable .
Home owner wanted me to call my credit card company , cancel payment to VRBO and pay him directly . Very shady behavior , this home owner clearly does not play by the rules. VRBO guest services assured me that I was safe , the locks would not be changed during my rental period , the month of May , 2018.
I should not have been surprised that during check out the home owner reached out again saying there is a problem , new guests are checking in . This owner is trying to charge additional fees for late check out.
Strongly caution anyone from staying at this property. Owner violated VRBO rules by contacting me directly about payment , suggesting I cancel payment to VRBO , and threatened to change locks if VRBO didn't pay him in three days as they promised.
Beware this owner Hugo can not be trusted .
These people overstayed at the villa and I had to move a new tenant to a different property because they hadn’t left and we didn’t have enough time to clean. When the cleaning crew arrived to clean they were still there and actually refused to leave. They had to get someone to remove them from the property. And then refused to pay for the extra days they stayed or the additional property I had to pay.
VRBO did in fact lose the payment and I asked the renter to contact VRBO, which she did relunctanctly. This issue was completely a fault at VRBO and had nothing to do with me or the renter. I wasn’t paid until weeks after. I never threatened to change the locks nor did I harass her. I did have to spend a lot of my time talking to VRBO (not to the renter) to get this resolved.
VRBO knows about this renter’s overstay and lack of payment for the additional days. Beware of this scammer, if I didn’t have another tenant coming they had planned to stay an additional week.
I had a great experience, the property was fully equipped for a family or big group, clean and beautiful house. The location is great as it is close to all restaurants, strip malls, pharmacies and supermarkets. Also the location is very close to one of Dorados best beaches and also the ones in Vega Alta and Vega Baja. The owner was very helpful and on call for any information needed. I will return definetely, I recommend this property for any short or long rental as its perfect for both a weekend getaway and a long term vacation.
