Quiet nature cabin on a beautiful Marengo River

Bedrooms 2
Property type cottage
Minimum Stay 2 nights

About the property

Relax and enjoy the north woods of Wisconsin from your private two bedroom retreat offering a full bath, screened in porch and complete kitchen. This cute, year round cabin is the perfect place for relaxing. Whether you spend time watching the river flow by, star gazing on crystal clear nights, entertaining friends around a campfire or taking on more strenuous activites like snow shoeing, canoeing, trout fishing, hiking and berry picking, this 900 sq. ft. cabin provides a comforting retreat from hectic day-to-day life.

The cabin’s simple layout combines the 16×12 living room with the 15×12 kitchen & dining area. There are 2 carpeted bedrooms and a full bath. The 16×10, 3-season porch adds more living space from spring through fall – including overflow sleeping quarters.

There are 2.8 acres – green & lush as can be! The yard gently slopes down to the river. The shoreline access is open, so you won’t have to struggle to launch your canoe or kayak. Wading is good here, too – a plus for trout anglers.

You can walk from the cabin across Marengo River Rd. to the396-acre Lincoln Community Forest. The Lincoln Community Forest was recently established with funding from the US Forest Service and the WI Dept. of Natural Resources. The Friends of the Lincoln Community Forest, a local non-profit, maintain the land, and the Bayfield Regional Conservancy, a non-profit land trust, permanently protects this special resource.

Public access is permitted to the Lincoln Community Forest for the following activities: • Hiking • Primitive camping • Cross-country skiing • Snow-shoeing • Hunting • Mushrooming • Bird-watching • Berry-picking • Canoe and Kayak access to river • Swimming/wading • Fishing • Horseback riding • Maple syruping • Trapping

Use of motorized vehicles on the property is prohibited except as necessary for the implementation of management activities.

Directions: From Drummond go north on Hwy 63 about 9 mi. to Dybedal Rd. Right to Altamont Rd. Right about 4 mi. to Marengo River Rd. Left to property on left.

Quiet comfortable cabin in the woods

  • 5 of 5

Stayed here in early November with 4 friends. The house is simple, but had everything we needed. Nice view of the river from the living room. Spacious kitchen/dining/living area. The whole place was clean, stocked with towels, and ready for immediate use. Great outdoor space for yard games, campfire, etc. The Lincoln Community Forest trails start at the end of the driveway. We hiked these for a few miles. Great views of the river. So quiet here! I would absolutely stay here again.

Lovely setting

  • 4 of 5

The setting was spectacular, right on an excellent trout river. It is way off the beaten track. The cabin itself was nice, but a bit rustic. Windows are hard to work, some of the doors a bit tricky and the kitchenware barely useable. I give it four stars because the first points far outweigh the last. My wife would not rate it as high.

It lives up to its billing as both beautiful and rustic. Be prepared for both. For the price, I don't think you can ask for more.

Beautiful cabin with everything you need

  • 5 of 5

The cabin was very well kept and on a beautiful location. The river is so close! Our toddler loved being able to walk out on the water as it is shallow on the edge of the river. Kitchen supplies were stocked so we didn't need to bring along pots and pans which was so helpful. Will definitely recommend this cabin. Thank you!

Gillett, WI

Great property but hard to find the first trip in.

  • 4 of 5

Exactly as billed and described. One strong recommendation would be to contact owner or manager ahead of time for best route in. Many small bridges are out in area which creates confusion and detours. Also very poor to no cell service so have directions pre printed. Other than difficulty finding at first loved this place, and would recommend!
