views to the fells.
Almost certainly the most centrally located holiday cottage in the Lake
District there is easy access to Keswick and the northern Lake District
or Grasmere, Ambleside and Windermere to the south. Fell walkers will
delight at the choice of walks from the door including Helvellyn and
many of Wainwright's Central and Eastern Fells. Mountain bikers can
enjoy the great choice of cycling and mountain biking routes in the
valley and the cottage stands adjacent to the Sustran National Cycle
Route 6 from London to Threlkeld!
Accommodation in detail
The front door opens to the hallway, with coat hooks and space for
boots and outdoor gear. The hallway runs the length of the cottage
linking all the principal rooms, turn right to the living room and
kitchen/dinner, turn left to the bedrooms and the reading room.
The cosy and welcoming lounge enjoys the corner of the cottage. Large
picture windows let the light flood in and offer unparalleled views
across the valley where the scene constantly changes with the weather
and the seasons. A sofa and armchairs are seated around a characterful
slate fireplace making this a lovely room to sit and relax whatever the
time of day and the ideal spot from which to keep an eye open for the
local wild life including red squirrels that inhabit the nearby
woodland along with the majestic herd of red deer that make this valley
The open plan kitchen / dining area is well appointed with fitted
units, superb local Honister slate worktops, dishwasher, electric hob
and oven, fridge, freezer and washing machine. The family, farmhouse
style, dining table is a real focal point to gather over breakfast or
to socialise over diner, both of which will be preceded by a discussion
as to who sits where, as no one will want to sit with their back to the
beautiful views of the Wythburn Fells!
Choose from two bedrooms, the master bed with double bed, dual aspect
views across the garden and an ensuite bathroom, the second, smaller,
bedroom can be presented as either a twin or double (please specify
when booking) and benefits from an adjacent room that can be used
either as a dressing room or alternatively used as a reading or TV
room. The family bathroom is presented with a bath with shower over,
basin and WC.
Stepping back outside, the cottage has a spacious patio, ideal for BBQs
or picnics, morning coffee or evening drink! The garden discreetly
screens the cottage from the lane and is a haven for wildlife. Private
parking is available for two cars.
Please note that even though this property is all presented all on the
ground floor the sitting room, lounge and master bedroom are set at a
slightly lower level than the rest of the cottage and so there a couple
of steps down to each of these room.
Nestled in the very heart of the Lakes, the nearest village is
Grasmere, making it a lovely place for a romantic break in peaceful
surroundings. With the views beginning at home, you'll be tempted to
take on such famous Lake District walks as Silver How, Lang How and
Helm Crag. Rising very close to the property is the impressive
'Fairfield Horseshoe' - keen walkers will be spoilt for choice.
However a holiday property isn't just a dream for walkers. This
historic Lake District village is famed for its connections with the
poet William Wordsworth, who lived in the village at Dove Cottage is
open to the public as part of the Wordsworth Museum. Artists will enjoy
browsing several watercolour galleries in Grasmere, particularly the
Heaton Cooper Studio which displays the Cooper family's famous work as
well as that of inspired local artists.
The village centre has all the facilities you'll need during your
self-catering holiday in the heart of the Lakes. From local shops and
supermarket to quaint tea rooms and acclaimed restaurants - the Good
Food Guide-listed Jumble Room is a treat for a special occasion and the
