About Carin Neitzel
Welcome to my home! Here, I enjoy being snuggled among the trees. I'm a university professor and researcher, so I'm fortunate to have the opportunity to escape from the demands and pressures of work in my own part of the "Peaceful side of the Smokies." This place is my get-away and I hope it will be yours as well.
Why Carin Neitzel chose Townsend
I fell in love with this area when I visited for the first time. I was determined to find my "dream home" here. There are not many places where you can enjoy natural beauty, peace , and privacy in a small community with such a large variety of escapes and explorations for anyone who loves outdoor adventures.
What makes this House unique
This property gives you an "away from everything" experience; and at the same time is less than a 10 minute drive from most of the activities and attractions of Townsend. Large wrap around decks provide a beautiful view and place you atop the trees. Lots of deck space for grilling, hot tub soaking, swinging or rocking in chairs; and if you're a musician, there's no better place for playing than a big "front porch!" When open, french doors along all walls of the main floor bring a breeze through the house and create a feeling of being in the middle of the woods from the living room couch. A picnic area with campfire pit allows you to enjoy the mood of a camping trip but you still have a soft bed to sleep in when the fire goes out!

Additional fee for pets.

Family Vacation with dogs
My family and I stayed recently and were not impressed with our overall experience. There are two bedrooms one on the top floor and one on the bottom floor. The bed on the bottom floor is very low and was very difficult to sleep on. The stairs going down were very slick and my daughter had trouble coming down. We later moved to the upstairs bed which was higher off the ground. We were unable to use the workout equipment since there were no keys and they were only in the way. The cabin was listed as pet friendly for a charge but we were not made aware this was per pet until the day before check in when I was charged an additional fee for multiple pets. They were not allowed on any furniture, sheets or blankets, we wouldn't call this pet friendly if they are only allowed on the floor. We had an issue with cockroaches and a small silver bugs with many legs during our stay which was nasty! The dvd player did not have color or sound, the cable was basic channels but all were listed on the menu so it took a long time to find channels that were allowed since we couldn't watch movies either. We were not able to use either fireplace and the thermostat was locked so we were very cold in the morning and while sleeping and unable to change them. We had many rules and we did not feel like we were able to enjoy our vacation. At check in we were given a combination for a door but were not told where this number went and since there are many doors and stairs it took some time to find the door and get inside. We will not be staying here again and I dont think a cleaning fee was fair.
It’s hard to know where to start with this. The only communication I received from these guests was that “we really enjoyed our stay!” The guests say they paid a fee per pet This is not true - they had four dogs (reported the day before arrival) and paid a slightly higher fee because of the number of pets. The guest says they couldn’t use workout equipment because they didn’t have keys - none of the equipment requires keys. The guest says they couldn’t use fireplaces - I’m not sure why. Both are functional and instructions for use are in house manual as well as posted on the fireplaces themselves (and there are remote controls to make use easy). The guest says they were given access code but not told how to get in - that is not true. I send instructions along with the access code. The guest says they couldn’t watch movies- there are smart televisions in living area and in one bedroom (with additional televisions in the loft and second bedroom) - all apps are available for guests along with cable. The guest says there are too many rules - there’s basically one rule, no smoking anywhere on the property inside or outside and that’s because of a medical issue that makes smoke residue life threatening. There are some requests I make for safety reasons (no leaning or sitting on railing and keep propane to gas grill turned off when not in use). I provide a lot of information in a house manual so all areas and features of the house can be used easily. Guests are encouraged to contact me if they have any questions or concerns (I heard nothing from this guest). My home is a beautiful cabin on a wooded property. It is spacious and well furnished. It is a great place for pets, lots of room inside, gated decks, and trails around the property.
This home is private, pet friendly, and close to great views and family friendly activities: 6 miles to main entrance Great Smoky Mountains National Park and Cades Cove. Beautiful drive through park leads to Gatlinburg. 1/4 mile from Davey Crockett Horse Riding Stable, 1/4 mile from Tuckaleechee Caverns, near Appalachian Bear Rescue. Other nearby activities: hiking, tubing, zip-lining, ATV or Jeep tours through Smokies. And much more!
