Weirside Cottage will catch your eye as you drive through the beautiful village of Brighstone. This stunning Grade II listed holiday cottage dates back to the early 17th century and has been beautifully restored to show off its character features such as oak beams and fireplaces. There is easy parking for 2 cars in front of the cottage, a private terrace with summerhouse and a large lawned garden reached by a footbridge over the brook which runs through the grounds.
Brighstone is in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and is one of the most popular villages on the Isle of Wight. The village has a general store (with post office) where you can shop for local island produce. The village also has a newsagents/grocers and a card/gift shop, family pub, 2 churches and a hairdresser. The cottage is perfectly situated to access the local coastal and downland walks and within easy reach of the beaches of Brighstone Bay, Compton, Freshwater Bay, Totland Bay and Colwell Bay. Local attractions include the Needles, Tennyson Down, Blackgang Chine adventure park and Yarmouth. Nowhere is far on this beautiful Island!
You enter the cottage through the front door into a stone porch – perfect for coats and boots storage. The cosy sitting room has comfortable sofas, exposed stonework and a brick fireplace (not operational). The dining room, with beautiful oak table, chairs and dresser also has a cosy wood burner (fuel provided in winter months). The dining room leads through to the kitchen which is fitted with grey shaker style units and Corian work surfaces. Beyond the kitchen is a well-appointed bathroom with bath and overhead shower. Note there is one step up and one step down to bathroom. Upstairs are two gorgeous light filled bedrooms (one double and one twin) each with good storage for your clothes and belongings. Accessed through the kitchen door is a pretty summerhouse which not only provides a peaceful space to relax but also hosts the laundry facilities.
The cottage has oil-fired central heating and is ideal for holidays and short breaks all year round.
Guests staying for 7 nights + are welcomed with a small hamper of milk, bread, biscuits, eggs and butter. Coffee, tea & sugar are also available.
Note: due to the proximity of the stream and the internal architecture of this Grade 2 listed cottage, we only accept bookings from families with babies or children over 4 years. Children must be supervised in the garden, especially near the brook.
