Two bedroom 4 star rated self catering apartment sleeping up to six people.

Schuss 301 is situated in Val Claret, the highest village in Tignes.It is no more than 200 metres from virtually all the shops/bars/restaurants and is approximately 400 metres from the ski lifts providing access to the Grande Motte Glacier and the Espace Killy ski area. Situated on the third floor ,the south west facing balcony looks up to the Glacier and the pistes. The apartment has been finished to a high standard internally with a double bedroom, bunk room and sofa bed to the lounge. The shower room is finished in French Limestone and the kitchen has everything you need after a hard day on the slopes. The main bedroom has views over the mountains/golf course and lake. On the ground floor there is a ski locker and ski boot room with lockers belonging to the apartment. There is free wifi in the apartment and freeview providing numerous Uk and French TV channels

The apartment is close to shops/restaurants/lifts but is far enough away that there are no noise issues late at night when the local wildlife gets into full voice. In summer there are plentiful opportunities for golfers, walkers, watersports, sailing, summer skiing and tennis.

Thank you for a great week, we would definately stay again. We were meet promptly by Gary's local representative on our arrival. The apartment met all expectations. The kitchen was well equipped. The on site boot room and ski room made storing equipment easy. You can park right outside the door to 'unload' your car. With windows on 3 sides of the apartment, it is light and airy with good views. Shops, restuarants and bars are all on your doorstep. Easy 12 minute walk to the lifts.



As we were travelling with young children (7 months and 2.5 years), Gary recommended Snow Babies (www.snow-babies.com) for any baby/toddler equipment needs. This service was sensational and we hired a 'bed guard' for the bunk bed and a highhchair, however you can also get prams, clothing, cots etc.



Our 2.5 year old spent the mornings 9 to 1300 at ski school (www.skione-marmottons.com), she had a great time and spent at least 2 hours a day on the slopes. This is one of the only resorts in EU we have found to cater ski lessons to this age group.

Tignes 2016

Stayed in schuss 301 for a week in January! First time skiing in tignes! As a group of competent skiers, we were looking for an apartment, that was close to lifts and easily accessible to pubs and restaurants! And that it was! The apartment itself was very clean and tidy, and had everything we needed! When booking Gary (the owner) was very easy to get in touch with! The price was excellent! Had a great time, and thought that everything about the accommodation and surrounding village (Val Claret) were more than impressive! Will definitely go back and would recommend it to anyone!

Great place, great skiing, great apartment!

Great place - location, location, location!

Fantastic, bright, contemporary apartment with fabulous views and only a couple of minutes walk to shops, bars, restaurants, cinema, ski hire, lifts etc in the centre of Val Claret. Really convenient ski and boot storage by reception. We loved the convenience and the light and spacious living / dining area. For a self-catering apartment, we thought the kitchen was really well appointed and everything was clean and looked to be very freshly decorated - not a mark on the walls. Loved the natural stone tiles in the bathroom and a very generous master bedroom. Definitely feels like a much more spacious, modern and light apartment than many we have experienced elsewhere. We also enjoyed walking to Le Lac for dog-sledding and on to Tignes for even more bars and restaurants. The bus home was easier and quicker than a taxi. We look forward to doing it all again and would recommend this apartment to anyone!!

Modern, bright, well equipped, good value.

We were a group of 6 guys who were looking for some late season snow at altitude. The apartment was very close to all the shops/restaurants/ski hire and was about 300 metres from the ski lifts. It is larger than previous apartments we have stayed in at French purpose built resorts. The owner was helpful and responded quickly to our queries before we headed out and his in resort rep met us with the key and answered our questions. The double bedroom was a very good size and the bunks/sofa bed were comfortable. We cooked in every other night and shopped in the Sherpa supermarket 150 meters away. Thankfully the dishwasher was idiot/bloke proof so we had no problems there. If you are looking for a good value option away from catered chalets or hotels I would have no problem recommending this apartment. The skiing was excellent for this time of year although the snow was heavy by late afternoon. Tignes architecture isn't much to look at but then who goes there to look at the buildings. Hope to be back next year if allowed by my better half. Jack Mac and the boys.

Fab fortnight's stay - can't wait to come again

We enjoyed a fantastic two week holiday in April, think this is our third time staying here now so would obviously recommend this apartment. We were a party of two adults and two older teenagers, but still there was plenty of room for us all. The apartment is modern and clean and much larger than others we have stayed in – enough for us all to have our own space when we’d had enough of each other’s company (essential with teenagers)! The boot and ski lockers are separate – so room to dry off boots separately from the skis and snowboards. The kitchen is well equipped, and it was nice to have a proper oven as well as a microwave, which is a bit unusual in ski apartments – home made tartiflette a particular speciality! Wifi in the apartment kept the teenagers happy when they weren’t out skiing.

The apartment is in a great location, just a short walk from the ski lifts giving access to the most fabulous skiing. There is plenty to keep any non-skiers happy too (one of our party) – patisseries, restaurants, shopping all a short walk away. The walk across the frozen lake (or free bus ride) to Le Lac is worth the few minutes effort – particularly on a Thursday or Sunday when there is a few market stalls with yummy French produce.

Can’t wait to go back for more skiing next season!

Great location and views, needs some improvements

Great location, beautiful view of mountains and ski area. Spacious bedroom and living area. Needs improvement on cleaning utensils as we found the storage tray dirty where they placed the cleaned silverware. They only provide one key which is not convenient for a group. The door has a key storage box with code for others to use when going out separate but the problem is that if one stays at night and sleeps, the door must be left unlock since it can only be lock with a key from inside or outside. There is no deadbolt knob inside. If we were to lock the door and place key on box, the person inside the apt. Will be lock. That is not very safe option. So we had to leave the key inside with door unlock when we went out and the other stayed sleeping.

TV can use some improvements. The hot water was plenty and with good pressure. The bed pillows were horrible and should be better.

Overall is a great apartment for the price, but they should provide two set of keys so that door could be lock if someone stays sleeping while others go out.

Also no freezer on refrigerator.

I would recomend the place and the owner was very responsive and tried to respond to all questions during our stay. The property manager also was responsive. i would comeback again, hope they get a second key or change the locking system for the door.

Tiny, expensive and not comfortable

Positive points:

- A renovated bathroom;

- A new kitchen;

- A dishwasher (working not so well).

Negative points:

- The appartement is ok for maximum 4 people. Indeed, there are only two bedrooms. The 5th and 6th mates have to sleep in the tiny kitchen and it is not comfortable at all.

- The appartement is overheated and it is impossible to reduce the temperature of the radiators.

- Crazy but the appartement has still single glazings. As a result, noise and low temperature from outside.

Conclusion:

Really too expensive for the size and the comfort! I will not hire it again for sure!

Owner's Response: Sorry to hear your negative views, for all the guests who have stayed over the years, none of these issues have been raised before. In fact a lot of guests have returned to my apartment over several seasons. Let me address the main points. The website and Home Away site clearly state that there are two bedrooms and that a maximum of six people can be accommodated with 2 sleeping on a sofa bed in the lounge. You might want to opt for a 3 bedroom apartment next time. Secondly, the apartment is 42m2 ,which for ski apartments in French high altitude purpose built ski resorts, is larger than the standard 35m2 apartments. If you are looking for more space I suggest you look further down the valley and travel up to the resort each day. Thirdly, the apartment most definitely is double glazed, I cannot therefore understand your issue with the apartment being too hot, and yet you mention the cold from outside through the windows. Even double glazing feels cold when the outside temperature at 2150 metres gets as low as -20 centigrade. I guess my apartment just wasn't what you were looking for.

Val Claret is the highest of the villages making up Tignes with arguably the best access to the ski lifts and many would argue the best night life/shops /restaurants. This very compact village has everything a serious skier would want and offers restaurants for every taste and budget. If you are travelling with children Val Claret has 2 kids ski schools and plenty of kiddy friendly restaurants. In summer Val Claret is handily placed to the golf course/lake/tennis courts/indoor leisure centre and is right beside the funicular railway for the summer skiers and mountain bike riders. A Sherpa supermarket is situated in the village centre for all your self catering needs. Most of our guests travel by car. Whilst you cannot park on the street in Tignes, the multi storey car park is only 100 metres away at a cost of 75 euros for one week. If you opt for coach/mini bus/private transfer then you can get dropped off very close to the front door. The ski train from London terminates at Bourg St Maurice and taxis are readily available to take you up to resort level. The apartment is only 100 metres from shops, 200 metres from bars/restaurants and 300/400 metres from the ski lift network. We are close enough to be handy to everything but far enough away when the bars really start to get swinging. A free bus service runs every 15 minutes connecting Val Claret with Le Lac and all its facilities including the excellent indoor family watersports centre.
