About the property

This cozy cabin is nestled in the heart of the central Black Hills 1/2 block from the Moonshine Gulch Saloon and Mickleson Trail. The cabin offers the quiet serene beauty of the Black Hills with some of the most incredible rides imaginable just outside the back door. Located in Rochford SD just 22 miles from Deadwood and 35 miles to Sturgis. Paved roads the entire way from Deadwood.

Ideally accommodates 2 couples, but can sleep 6 singles if needed. One bedroom has a queen bed, the other bedroom has a double and a bunk bed. 1 bathroom with tub/shower. Fully furnished with towels, linens etc., air conditioning, fireplace, and a full kitchen and BBQ grill and a garage for motorcycle, car, or ATV parking. Large deck off the back of the entire cabin which faces the creek.

Unfortunately there is no cable, cell service or Wifi at the cabin, however, you won't miss it! Everyone has commented now nice it is—especially with their kids! There are board games, cards, a 50" TV/DVD player and we have some movies for evening entertainment.

About Owners Brian and Mary Storgaard

We have four grown children and four grandchildren. Our children grew up visiting our cabin almost every weekend and many family memories have been made. We love sharing it with others so your own memories can be made here!

Owners Brian and Mary Storgaard purchased this cabin in 2001

Why Owners Brian and Mary Storgaard chose Hill City

We purchased this cabin because of the great location, very close to our home so we can get away for the weekend without having to travel many hours. We also have rented rooms in our home every year for the Sturgis Rally and have always enjoyed sharing what we have with others.

What makes this cabin unique

Peaceful and quiet! It is also right on Rapid Creek and the Mickelson Trail. Centrally located so there is easy access to many attractions in the Black Hills. NO wifi, cell service or video games! There is a TV with DVD player. Therefore, your kids have to spend time with YOU not their phones!! We provide some board games and a couple movies, however feel free to bring your own!

Perfect location for fun and relaxation

3 generations of us went on vacation. I was in charge of finding a place to stay. Lucky for me I found this cabin. Mary is incredible. Very quick to respond to any question. When we got to the cabin it was impeccably clean, fully stocked, and on an amazing piece of land. I was a hero for booking this! We had the best vacation. If we come back to The Black Hills, I wouldn't bother looking for anywhere else to stay. There can't possibly be a hostess or house better than this one. Thank you, Mary!

Peace and quiet

  • 5 of 5

Excellent stay away from all of the commercialized areas but under an hour drive to all of the attractions. The cabin was as advertised and perfect for our family of 5. The kids spent many hours playing in the creek. The bike trail was beautiful and just a block or two from the cabin. We would definitely stay again!

What an incredible week! The relaxed feel was exactly what our family of 6 needed to reconnect and reset. Beautiful views, authentic people and a cozy cabin retreat are just what you need to feel like yourself again!

many things provided

Most everything a person would need was there. Cabin was very neat and clean. Beautiful surroundings and a few steps away from the Mickelson bike trail. We would not have any problem with staying here again.

My family loved our time here. The house is decorated super cute and definitely fits the area. My kids loved playing in the creek when it wasn't too cold. We also loved seeing the deer walk through the yard and the various wildlife along the dirt road including having to stop for the cows in the road. The lack of cell phone service and wifi was an added bonus because it made everyone put the electronics down and play games/ watch movies as a family. We would gladly stay here again if we come back to the black hills. Thank you for letting us rent your little piece of heaven for the week!

Excellent location, excellent cabin

I stayed with my sister and parents for three nights. Very nice cabin. The yard was beautiful and it is in a nice central location for exploring the black hills. Even my dad, who is a tough customer to please, loved it. We would definitely stay again.
