Perfect little retreat!
Our stay at Pixies Croft worked just perfectly for myself, my husband & two kids (15 & 8)
The house itself is charming & has everything you could possibly need, Cecilia also made sure we were ok & greeted us a little after we arrived to ensure we didn’t need anything else.
The bedrooms & bathrooms were fine for the 4 of us, plus 2 x small dogs & we loved using the tennis courts & barbecue.
Thanks so much to a fab host.
Lovely location for a short break
Fairlight is situated between Rye and Hastings and Pixies Croft is a pretty rural retreat on the edge of Hastings Country Park. There are lovely walks roundabout and the owners farm on the land and visitors have access to the small holding. We were lucky enough to see some baby lambs! There is also a small private garden, so it's great for dogs.
The croft has a lovely, large, comfortable sitting room with doors that open onto a terrace, that overlooks the country park and the sea. We were a party of five and there was more than enough space for all of us in the main living area. Two of the bedrooms and one of the bathrooms are slightly cramped, as is the kitchen, which has one of the bedrooms immediately adjacent.
Towels and linen are spotlessly clean. Some of the furniture is in the 'shabby chic' category and there is an eclectic range of utensils, pans and crockery, but none the worse for that. The terrace outside the kitchen would be lovely in warm weather.
Our one problem was the lack of information in the property. On the first night we couldn't work out how to use the quite complicated storage heaters or how to switch on the underfloor heating. We also had no hot water. As we had intermittant phone reception, we messaged Cecilia who came promptly the next morning and rectified the problem and told us where the switches were. Apparently we could have called on the intercom system that is installed, but there are no instructions on how to do that - only info on how to let visitors in.
We also didn't know which areas of land we had access to until we chatted to Cecilia and she explained. A simple map in the property showing access would be a great help.
Overall we had a lovely short break and would recommend for families and dogs.
A fabulous place & host.
Right on the edge of Hastings National park with beautiful walks along the coast. Cecilia was a great host and couldn't have been more helpful. We all loved the tennis courts too :)
Lovely location for a short break
We stayed in Pixies Croft for 3 nights over the late May bank holiday weekend. It's in a lovely location, a very nice modern cottage with good facilities. Very much enjoyed sitting on the terrace in the evening as the sun went down, with a nice view over the countryside and the sea.
The only downside was that there was some unfinished building work (the builder have been ill a few days before we arrived apparently). However, the owner was honest and upfront about this; it only meant we couldn't use the new downstairs room and had to be careful on the upper terrace due to the railings not yet being in place. We were able to make allowances for this and it didn't spoil a very nice stay in the cottage.
Lovely break in a peaceful setting
This is our second trip to stay here and we found everything we needed in a clean, warm and bright apartment. It is in a very beautiful, private and peaceful setting, with the opportunity to walk around the field where there are sheep. The apartment had changed quite a bit since our last stay with the addition of an internal wall for a more private bedroom. This did alter the flexibility of the sleeping arrangements for us travelling as a family of five. My husband and I ended up sleeping on the sofa bed next to the fridge freezer, but it was still comfortable and allowed the children to all be in one area.
We would definitely stay again.
Beautiful, cozy cottage
Lovely cottage, and fantastic hosts, went out of their way to provide us with everything we needed. Thanks so much!
