Fabulous villa

We stayed here in May for a week as part of a larger group of 7 (4 adults and 3 children) and had a fantastic time. The villa is really spacious, clean and comfortable and has the added bonus of a large courtyard with a barbecue, which we put to good use. There is also a utility room, enormous kitchen with plenty of cupboard space and of course we all loved the pool and the gardens. The villa and all of the rooms are maintained and decorated to a very high standard, all with en suite facilities and really good showers. The location is also excellent - it was just a short walk to the centre of Tavira where we found lots of good quality restaurants and bars, all of which were reasonably priced, with friendly and attentive staff. Ingeburg and Emma were also super helpful and welcoming - nothing was too much trouble. Beautiful villa - we would highly recommend it. Thank you Ingeburg and Emma for a fantastic stay! Great house!

We loved our stay in Tavira. The house was much bigger than expected and was in a good situation for walking down into the town.

The living area and kitchen were very well equipped and comfortable, and the heating worked well in fairly cold conditions. The bedrooms felt as though they needed a bit of t.l.c., but were perfectly acceptable.

The arrangements for key collection and return worked well, and the owners provided a huge bag of fresh oranges from their farm, which was a lovely surprise.

Lovely large villa, huge grounds, great pool

Great property, very large grounds, mainly lawn, great pool, just 5 minutes walk into the centre of Tavira. Huge main dining room/lounge. Big kitchen, indoor BBQ room, and open courtyard enclosed within the villa. Lovely children's park immediately at the bottom of the garden. Only downsides were the garden has little privacy to the surrounding streets. and the grounds at the back of the property are somewhat of a building site and really should be fenced off.

Great for large groups

We've just come back from another fabulous holiday in Casa Adelaide. The house is four large en suite bedrooms and a really well equipped kitchen. We've celebrated a number of noteable birthdays there and a sundowner on the patio is a great way to start and evening in Tavira. Emma and the team are just down the road and are really helpful if you need anything during your stay.

huge villa and very central

This was an ideal holiday with little ones (12 and 18 months). There was everything we needed and any small problems we had or additional equipment was quickly provided by the owners. The rooms were spacious and the little ones loved running around. It was a 10 minute stroll to the centre of town where there were some delightful restaurants and there was a small supermarket round the corner and larger ones within walking distance. We had meals out on the raised patio which could have had a higher fence and gate round to stop the little ones heading for the pool. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and the boat trip to the beach on the island for 1 euro each way was lovely.

Tavira is said to be the most beautiful & elegant town on the Algarve, sited on both sides of the broad River Gilão & overlooked by ancient balcony houses. It has avoided the excesses of development and lost none of its grace. There are numerous pavement cafés & restaurants, many along the banks of the palm-lined river. The massive Ria Formosa nature reserve is rich in bird and plant life, and the hills and villages of the Serra do Caldeirão are just a few km north, with peaceful lanes ideal for walking or cycling. You may wish to relax on one of the massive clean and uncrowded sandy beaches stretching along this part of the coast (warmest sea in Portugal!) some accessed by a short boat trip from Tavira town. The Spanish border is approx 30km east, where the border castles and ancient towns are well worth exploring. 4 top quality golf courses are within easy reach; the nearest, Benamor, was designed by Sir Henry Cotton and is just 4km from Tavira

Things to do: We recommend hiring a car because there are so many wonderful places to visit in the Eastern Algarve and across the border in Spain. In addition to the golfing opportunities described below, you can go cycling or mountain biking, fishing, water skiing, wind surfing, boating, and swimming in both the sea and the calmer lagoon waters. For nature lovers, the Algarve is a treasure trove: birdwatching is excellent at all times of year, but particularly fruitful in the Spring and the Autumn when the migratory species are on the move between Africa and Europe. Wild flower and garden enthusiasts will appreciate the wonderful plants to be seen here. For the history minded, excursions to the castles at Castro Marim and Alcoutim will also give you a look at life in the Algarve hills away from the seaside resorts. The picturesque border town of Vila Real Sto. Antonio contains a wonderful town centre built to the plans of the Marques de Pombal following the famous earthquake in 1755.
