About Helen Farthing

Hello I'm Helen, I deal with all enquiries and I keep the Boathouse to a high standard. I am continually tweaking the property to make sure your stay is comfortable and memorable.

Moved to the Lake District in 1989 from Lincolnshire and I still marvel at the views. I enjoy being outside and make use of the lake and mountains.

Fabulous place to stay

  • 5 of 5

5 of us have just stayed for a 3 night break, and we couldn't have been more pleased with our stay. As soon as we arrived we were impressed with the accommodation. It is spacious, very comfortable and furnished to a very high standard with 3 large bedrooms with very comfortable beds. The living area has a fabulous view across the lake to the mountains and is equipped with everything you need for your stay. You will never tire of looking at the scenery and its very convenient for all that you need for a great trip to the lakes. Overall we would definitely recommend , just wish we had stayed for longer.

Peaceful November retreat

  • 5 of 5

Fabulous location on Windermere, overlooking small jetties and within 10 minutes walking distance to Bowness shops.

'High spec' accommodation with excellent facilities, clean and comfortable. Welcome pack full of goodies and much appreciated. Pre and post stay communication from Emma excellent.

Just loved people and boat watching from the balcony window (it was cold), so peaceful in November. A brief stroll to the ferry, paying our 50p, walking on the west shore and returning to tea and cake at the cafe.

Great stay Thank you

5 Star accommodation in a perfect lakeside spot.

  • 5 of 5

We selected the Osprey Boathouse for our honeymoon although we did have our three old son along with us! The communication from Helen prior to the visit was first class with all the relevant information we needed. On arrival even after viewing the video, reading reviews and even doing a google check, we were massively impressed. We have stayed in dozens of self catering locations all around the UK and this was fitted out to the highest standard in every way. The rooms were clean, the living area is well thought out with everything you require for a break away. If it's possible to improve I would suggest a larger bed in the main bedroom as it would easily accommodate and potentially a coffee machine. We always bring our own so we were fine. I was particularly impressed with the welcome hamper of Champagne, Chocolate and Strawberries as well as essentials like bread, milk and eggs. Those little gestures stay long in the memory and show someone who goes the extra mile - thanks again Helen. This is all before we got to the balcony and witnessed that view. Wow, we were blessed in mid October to not see a drop of rain and had clear blue skies most days. A glass of champagne or whiskey at the end of a day on the lake or wandering around Bowness was a perfect finale to many a perfect day. We only used the car on two occasions as walking to Bowness is only 10 minutes even with a push chair. The steamer services are excellent for going anywhere around the lake. We have already enquired about coming back and we certainly be recommending this place to all of our friends and family. Hole Int Wall, Village Bar/Grill, Mela Indian Restaurant and the Angel Inn are all highly recommended for food and drink depending on your requirements. Who needs to go abroad when England can be this good!

Perfect Weekend Getaway!!

  • 5 of 5

An amazing holiday retreat! We had a fabulous weekend, the Boat House is in a perfect location on Lake Windermere and its an easy walk into Bowness. We enjoyed sitting on the balcony in the morning with a cup of tea and watching the boats and ferry's coming and going. The Boat House was immaculately kept and very well presented, there was a lovely welcome pack and good walking guide books and board games available for use. We happily sat down as a family and played Monopoly, which my Daughter loved!!

I wouldn't hesitate in recommending it to anyone and we WILL be returning again!!

A perfect break in a perfect place

  • 5 of 5

The view blew us all away when we arrived, but we soon realised the beauty of the view was enhanced by the beauty of the boathouse. It's immsculate, spacious and wonderfully presented. The open plan living area is a great way to spend time with friends. Loved the welcome gift box. A nice touch and added to the great service already enjoyed during the booking process. We all loved it so much we are going to go back A brilliant weekend sanctuary!

Wonderful lake views in beautifully furnished home

  • 5 of 5

The boat house is in the perfect setting with fabulous lake views.

It is very comfortable and beautifully furnished. In the immediate vicinity you have access to water sport activities e.g Kayak, canoes, paddle boarding and bike hire. It is in a great position within a short 15min walk of the town centre which has plenty of great shops, bars and restaurants. It is also ideally positioned for sight seeing in the lakes.
