About Helen Farthing

Hello I'm Helen, I deal with all enquiries and I keep the Boathouse to a high standard. I am continually tweaking the property to make sure your stay is comfortable and memorable.

Moved to the Lake District in 1989 from Lincolnshire and I still marvel at the views. I enjoy being outside and make use of the lake and mountains.

Guestbook comments from the manager

Luxurious boat house in top location

  • 5 of 5

The Osprey Boat House provides high quality accommodation with a really stunning outlook, directly on Lake Windermere. The kitchen/dining/living area is very spacious and airy, giving onto a wide terrace above several jetties jutting out into the lake. The bedrooms are large and comfortable and the ensuite and family bathrooms are also a good size and well appointed. The whole property is good but it is that view which time and time again draws your gaze. We did not have the best weather during our week but it doesn't matter - the lake is absolutely fascinating in all of its varied moods. We saw it all, from a storm one evening to a flat calm and sunshine the next morning. Beautiful. The house is 5-10 minutes stroll away from the bustle of Bowness which offers many good pubs and restaurants. I must give special praise to the delicious and excellent value filled sourdough rolls with chips for lunch at The Village Inn! We would certainly stay here again.

Ideal holiday home

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful place to stay. The accommodation is beautifully furnished and has everything you need and the location is perfect - a short walk to Bowness and the ferry across to Far Sawrey. The welcome pack was unexpected but made the holiday even more special. It was a pleasant surprise to find toiletries and other essentials - not something we have found in other self catering accommodation.

The view from the balcony is amazing - and can still be enjoyed from inside when the weather is bad.

We will definitely be returning.

Top location, superlative spec.

  • 5 of 5

This holiday house is a beautiful, thoughtful and well appointed conversion with every careful attention to detail. On arrival, your holiday starts as you walk through the door - and it is surprisingly spacious. It is clean, functional and well equipped. The balcony is a delight and catches the evening sunshine (when present); the views from the open plan main room are stunning. We would love to holiday there again.

Wonderful, relaxing place to stay with amazing view!

  • 5 of 5

A beautifully renovated boat house and to a very high standard indeed, ideal for 5 adults and a 1 year old to enjoy a family long weekend together. This was 5* luxury accommodation with 3 tastefully designed bedrooms, an open plan living/dining area, and a well equipped kitchen perfect for self catering.

It was all spotlessly clean on our arrival and, whilst the weather during or stay was not amazing, we could nevertheless enjoy the spectacular view of the lake through the windows of the living area!

We enjoyed it so much that we are hoping to return at some time in the future. Thank you Helen!

Perfect

  • 5 of 5

Spent three nights in this wonderful, quirky boathouse and loved it. The boathouse is beautifully appointed, spotlessly clean, cosy and comfortable. It has fabulous views over the lake and is totally relaxing to sit on the veranda to watch life on the lake! The welcome pack was brilliant essentials plus some chilled wine and chocolates to enjoy. Helen is extremely helpful and goes the extra mile to ensure everything runs smoothly. We have already booked to return in September and can't wait to return.
