The popular beach of Geoponika is located 34km from Thessaloniki Int'l Airport in Northern Greece at the gate of the Kassandra peninsula of Chalkidiki. If you are travelling by car and ferry boat from Europe, the port of Igoumenitsa to Geoponika is 369 km by motorway. The beach is 1.5km of beautiful white sand with the sea stretching out to Mount Olympus. The location provides easy access to Sithonia and Mount Athos as well as a large variety of sites such as the spectacular Cave of Petralona with stalagmites and stalactites where the skull of Archanthropus was found. There is an all day restaurant and beach café a short 50m. from our holiday homes and a few beach cafes in a natural green setting down the coast. If you are willing to leave the beautiful beach, swimming and sunbathing at a moment’s whim, Thessaloniki, the capital of Northern Greece, is a 30min drive from Geoponika on the motorway with a multitude of museums, ancient sites, Byzantine churches with world renowned mosaics. Thessaloniki also features a museum of Modern Art, Photography and exhibitions. For those who enjoy shopping a number of shopping malls are available near the airport where the Hyatt Casino is also located. Thessaloniki has a large number of hospitals and the Interbalkan European Medical Centre (Diavalkaniko) by the airport can provide high quality medical services. The village closest to Geoponika is Nea Kallikrateia 4.5km away and has a variety of super markets (Lidl and others), pharmacies, medical services, restaurants, bars and clubs. And for the inquisitive traveller one can choose to visit the Gerovassiliou Wine Museum, follow a route from the Wine Roads of Northern Greece, or take a trip to the archaeological sites of Pella, Alexander the Great's capital, Vergina with the Royal Tombs of the Macedonian Kings, and Dion, all to the west, Phillipi to the east, or even a trip by boat, always coming back to a beautiful home and garden on a long sandy beach for swimming, sunbathing and relaxing to your heart’s content.
