About Pike Brant
This ranch house near Kalispell is our child hood home. We were raised chasing cows, putting up hay, building fence, hiking and hunting all around. We also got to enjoy ski racing at Big Mountain, playing sports and both went to college, I University of Montana, KJ - Stanford. We like this area so didn't move to far away, KJ in Coeur d Alene, Idaho and Pike in Spokane, WA. The house and barn yard area are still the center of operations for a working cattle ranch. Machines, cows, a couple ranch hands, local hay customers will be moving around at random times throughout the day. This was my fathers house, he has passed away in 2013. We wanted to share the ranch life experience with others yet maintain access to our own house. Essentially we will be our own guests. I always enjoyed spring time hikes, summer time haying, fall hunting and then cutting Christmas trees commercially. For 20 years straight I had Thanksgiving at the ranch.
Pike Brant purchased this Farmhouse in 1967
Why Pike Brant chose Kila
Why the ranch? Well in the summer of 2016 we hosted my 16 year old nephew and 12 year old niece for a week. We stayed at a cabin only 1 mile from Glacier Park, but the kids wanted to be at the ranch instead because there was more to do right out the front door. The ranch has a lot of recreation right out the front door, but the kids liked the ease of walking to and fishing our creek and fooling around in the barns and corrals plus petting the horses. The fire pit is a huge hit. We also have lots of hiking, biking, fishing, and riding of course but also rock climbing on all the cliffs, shooting, birding, kayaking/canoeing can all be done within a few hundred yards of the house. You can have a dog with you off leash. Of course Glacier Park, the Wilderness areas and Forest lands, myriad of lakes in varying sizes are just a short drive away. Plus shopping and big box stores are only 15 miles away
What makes this Farmhouse unique
By staying at the ranch house you will get things you won't get at other places, lots of land to explore. The house looks over a beautiful mountain valley with a creek running down the middle. Kids can go play in the creek watchful eye of a mother sitting by the fire pit in the front yard. Simple hiking, biking and fishing activities are just out the door and because the nature of the valley there are two different styles of hiking, one in darker forest and the other above all the cliffs. Another unique things is we the owners have lived on or been associated with the ranch and Flathead Valley our whole lives. We have knowledge that frankly probably can't be much surpassed. Tell me what you want to do and I can provide a real help on how to do it. Glacier Park is an hours drive and Wilderness land, National Forest hiking areas and many lakes are even closer.
You can smoke outside. Be wary of dry conditions

Great ranch home perfect for a family visit.
Rusting ranch home with more space and bedrooms than we expected. It was perfect for our holiday family time together.
Beautiful home with amazing landscape
We had such a wonderful time celebrating with our friends and family. I would highly recommend this property
It's got that peaceful, easy feeing!
What a treat to stay in this beautiful place. It offers a unique experience to feel what it might be like to live the ranching life, along with all the comforts of home. The surrounds are so amazing. The view from that kitchen! Drinking coffee in the morning while bambi and her friends frolic in the fields, and ohhhh the sunsets! You don't realize how big the place is until you start walking the fields. The folks working the ranch are so kind and friendly. The owners are lovely to coordinate with. They provided so many helpful suggestions for activities in the area. Dog-friendly. Stunning place to get away from it all. It was difficult to leave!
Just Like Home
The ranch home is very comfortable we had 6 adults in our stay and everyone had a great experience. For me it was a special joy to see my kids settle in and absorb an environment i experienced growing up in the valley. We all look forward to doing it again next year. We all thank you for the opportunity.
Perfect Rustic Getaway
Staying at this ranch was a one-of-a kind experience! Five families gathered here from four different states and the house provided comfortable accommodations for nine adults and three small children.
The best part of staying here was what happened outside. The views of mountains & pasture was simply breathtaking - especially early in the morning while drinking coffee on the porch. There was plenty to hike and explore in the forest & hills across the pasture. We visited the horses every day - the kids loved that. We had campfires every evening (though we were warned that during certain times of the year, dry weather could prevent the use of the fire pit). The ranch is close enough to Glacier National Park, Whitefish, Big Fork for day trips. Shopping, golfing and other conveniences were available 20 minutes away in Kalispel. One morning, while eating breakfast, we looked out the window and saw the ranch staff, on horseback driving the cattle back into the forest. It was quite a sight to see!
All the beds were very comfortable, the owners provided plenty of towels for us. Laundry access was quite a convenience for us with all the hiking and playing we did outside with the kids.
The living room has a large smart TV for those who were interested in watching movies.
This was such a memorable experience for our family. I can’t wait to go back!
Ashley and her friends were great guest. They were easy to communicate with and schedule their stay. Its great to have guest utilize and enjoy the outdoor recreation opportunities of the ranch. House keeping reported everything picked up and an initial quick clean done by the guest prior to check out. Being a clean and helpful guest is really appreciated. I would recommend Ashley and her friends for any future rentals
There were very few things that were a problem. In one of the bedrooms, the bed fell to the floor as soon as the person got on it, which was not that big of a deal, since it was still comfortable. There were 9 of us, so there were plenty of places to sleep. The kitchen had all of the items we needed to make so great meals. Watching the nesting eagles was a pleasure. It was only an hour from Glacier National Park, which was our true destination. After a day of hiking, it was nice to come back to a place that was comfortable and relaxing. Overall, it was a great experience. My sons are thinking of coming back sometime in August or September. Only question I have is, how do I get my damage deposit back?
The Ranch House is located on the quiet side of the busy summer vacation area of the Flathead Valley. The main attraction is the snow capped peaks of Glacier National Park, but all the lakes, national forest lands, wilderness areas, white water and fishing rivers provide endless opportunities for outdoor recreation. At the ranch we have the hay meadows, creek and forest to enjoy. A very unique feature to our place are the cliffs jetting out of the flat meadow; rock climbers bring your gear. You can bike, hike, walk or ride any direction from the ranch house; you can even kayak or canoe down the creek to Smith lake.
