Beautiful luxury cottage short walk to beautiful Gwenver beach and cliffs - New Forge

Overview

About the property

Above Gwenver Beach, Sennen,

The space is most generous with a 35 foot long living space and big bedrooms, even a studio in the garden if anyone needs to work (ask me about it).

We completed the cottage in 2011 to a very high standard and with good appliances - many guests who keep coming back like to consider it their luxury holiday home.

But if you fancy something more adventurous there is a good surf school down the road, sea fishing trips or diving, or bring your bike and tackle some of the hills that make West Cornwall such a beautiful place.

The cottage has everything you're likely to need, whether you want to cook at home, barbecue, or maybe sample some of the great restaurants of St Ives, Penzance or The Beach in Sennen Cove.

If you're looking for a quiet break, or you want to try cycling in Cornwall, surfing, twitchers, or just lovers of the wonderful scenery.

We have some of Britain's best beaches within a short drive - some just a walk away. You can swim, surf or fish off Gwenver (Gwynver), and that's just down the lane. My favourite is Porthcurno and its neighbour Penvounder, probably 5 miles from here.

We're a long way from London, but our culture is alive and thriving. The Minack Theatre is a few miles away. The modern gardens of Tremenheere are attracting more and more people wanting to experience the James Turrell spaces there, even though it's not officially open yet. The Kneehigh, Miracle and other theatre companies put on stunning out door events, and our festivals including Golowan, Lafroda and Montol demonstrate that life on the edge is a fun experience.

West Cornwall is a magical place, steeped in mystery from its ancient past, evidence of which is seen in the fogous, burial tombs and remains of villages such as Chysauster and Carn Euny.

Our many tin and copper mines, ancient and modern helped us gain UNESCO World Heritage status, and you can go underground at nearby Geevor, or see the oldest working Cornish Beam Engine at Levant.

The Cape Cornwall Golf Club is a short drive and is a wild cliff top course.

About Seb Blakemore

Seb has been lucky enough to have lived in West Cornwall for the past 7 years. After coming down for an extended break he fell in love with this beautiful area and never left!

Based in St Just, Seb took on an old wreck and worked to create a comfortable home. This is now also the headquarters for The Cornish Way who look after luxury cottages for a select group of owners and their lucky guests.

The aim of The Cornish Way is to provide holidays that fill you with joy - and the bespoke selection of cottages Seb offers are sure to deliver.

Why Seb Blakemore chose Sennen

We are right at the edge of Britain and it can be utterly calm, yet at other times wild in the extreme. The very contrasts in the weather, no matter what it throws at you, are truly good for the soul and leave you feeling more alive.

What makes this cottage unique

Whether you stay at The Old Dairy, New Forge or Myn Tea, you'll have wonderfully comfortable accommodation, far reaching views, good gardens and you could spend a relaxing holiday here without ever leaving the property. But when you venture out you have the best of Cornwall with its cliffs and beaches right on your doorstep.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Fabulous house

  • 5 of 5

This is our second time back to the New Forge and our fourth time to a Cornish Way property which says it all. There is incredible detail in the design and comfort of this place and it means that our family of four have a brilliantly holiday whatever the weather. I'm already looking forward to when we can return.

Fantastic property for a very relaxing break near beautiful coastline and exhilarating walks

  • 5 of 5

Exceptionally well appointed holiday cottage. Everything thought of and provided. The bottle of wine that was left for us made us very welcome. A fantastic array of books were wonderful to peruse. This is a cottage that is clearly loved by its owners, it is modern in its facilities but homely and personal in its feel and design. It's position above the nearby beach at Gwynver is perfect to start your coastal walks to the north towards Cape Cornwall or south to Lands End via Sennan cove. Even though we had the challenging February weather the walks along the coastline were breathtaking. This is the perfect base for exploring the magical and historical coastline and sites in this part of Cornwall. I would highly recommend a stay at this cottage and will return ourselves in the future.

New Forge - perfect in every way

  • 5 of 5

Our 5th stay in New Forge and it never ceases to impress. Super Comfortable, clean, light, modern, lovely open plan living space, well equipt - perfect for a fantastic stay in beautiful Cornwall.

Be prepared to drive or walk everywhere when exploring Cornwall as the position of New Forge is fairly remote. However to be able to walk to stunning Gwenver and Sennen is an absolute bonus. Access to Gwenver beach (which is dog friendly in the summer) Calls for a level of fitness, but it's a jewel of a beach. Excellent surf and spectacular views, It is also a life guarded beach which is a bonus and reassuring but remember they are not there to babysit your children. If you are taking children teach them the rules of the flags.

Sainsbury's will deliver a food shop to New Forge and we tended to eat in as cooking facilities (and BBQ) a joy! Although amazing fish and chips from Sennen - does get busy height if season.

Highly recommend Kernow Coasteering and a must is a surfing lessons with Sennen Surfing Centre (Book early to avoid disappointment).

I would definitely recommend New Forge to family and friends, it is a super special place.

Owner's Response: Wow! Thanks Holly. I love having you all to stay. Your enthusiasm for West Cornwall matches mine, and the way the boys love everything they do is infectious. Thank you for staying with us and for booking for the next two years! I'll send a link to the van blog once its live. There won't be anything on it for a while - but once I hit the road.... Best wishes. Kelvin.

Fabulous holiday Cottage

  • 5 of 5

Really wonderful, homely, stylish holiday home. Clean and comfortable with all mod cons and a special relaxed and peaceful atmosphere. I rarely find a place I would return to but this is one of them. Excellent friendly host who gave us some good tips and information about local places to visit and eat. Highly recommended.

These gorgeous cottages are just a short walk from the beautiful surfing beach of Gwenver, which is a quieter beach around the corner from popular Sennen Cove. The busy towns of St Ives and Penzance are both a short drive, and some of the best beaches in the country are nearby.

If you're into walking, cycling, surfing, you're a twitcher, art lovers or just looking for a great self catering holiday should consider The Cornish Way for your next break in West Cornwall.

It's designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and makes an amazing location for family holidays or romantic breaks all year round.

The mining areas of Cornwall are UNESCO World Heritage sites and offer an insight into the life of our ancestors.

This countryside inspired such authors as Daphne Dumorier, Rosemund Pilcher and more recently Patrick Gale. The art colonies nearby are famouse from such great as Barbara Helpworth, Stanhope Forbes and even Mark Rothcoe.

The modern cottage was completed to a high standard in 2011 and offers every comfort, whereas The Old Dairy has all the charm of a traditional Cornish cottage.

We have properties sleeping two to eight, or up to 17 if you take three! Each offers everyone enough space to have their own quiet time.

If you plan your shopping well - or have it delivered, you might not even use your car for the duration of your stay.
