I recently stayed here and found my stay comfortable and convenient. The home has all that is needed and is located in a nice area with easy access to public transport. Unni is very welcomimg and helpful. My family visited and i was able to entertain with meals for relatives.
It was a real relaxing experience and my family is thankful for the opportunity provided by Unni and Trond.
The property was as described and Unni was always available and prompt if we needed anything. The house is lovely and plenty of room for myself, husband and girls ages 11 and 13. The neighborhood is very safe and having the off street parking for the rental car was perfect. We hope to come stay again in the near future as our son lives in Oslo. Thank you Unni and Trond. Best Toni and Bruce
The house is very pleasant. The decoration is original and warmy. Quickly we feel as at ours.
It is easy to go to Downton too.
10 days in winter allowed us to discover norvegian way of life.
My husband and I and our family of eight more just returned from a week in Oslo. Six of us stayed at Unni's, 4 in another apartment that was beautiful and more expensive - but everyone wanted to be at Unni's. We all had dinner here almost every night in the most wonderful dining room where ten of us gathered ...the art and design talent of this family really shows and the house warmly embraces everyone. It would also be a romantic stay for just two.
A 15 minute lovely walk to the city center...
The house itself is a highlight of a trip to Oslo.
This was our first HomeAway rental and the difference is clear. Forget any previous experience of vacation properties, this house is clearly a home. The house is centrally located, well appointed and definitely homely. We stayed here as a family of five with three children ranging from 5 to 10 years old. There are even toys available within the property to keep children occupied during those quieter moments. I would agree with the comments of a previous reviewer in relation to the "splashy shower" although this would not prevent me from recommending the property or visiting again.
This is my fourth HomeAway now. My wife, my two children (15 & 4), my parents and I stayed in Unni's beautiful home for a week in the summer of 2015. The house is lovely, very individual and really homely and relaxing. We used the upstairs TV lounge as a bedroom for the 15 year old and lived very comfortably using it as a four bedroomed house.
We went to Norway for a wedding and decided to go to Oslo for a week afterwards. I wanted a place to use as a base to visit the sites of the city. I wanted somewhere spacious, with a garden outside, local amenities close by, in a safe quiet neighbourhood, fairly close to the centre and with good links to the transport network. Unni house met all of our needs and exceeded them. The transport system in Norway is superb. The No 37 bus runs from nearly outside the house straight to the station taking less than 10 minutes. We bought 7 day travel passes for £20, £10 for my eldest and my parents and were able to use all the busses, trams, the metro and even ferries.
I would thoroughly recommend firstly visiting Oslo for a week or two and secondly staying in Unni's beautiful home. The photos look good, but don't actually do it enough justice.
During winter there is only a short trip to an eldorado for cross country-snow board or down hill skiers. During summer you can just hang out in the popular park, nearby shopping and dining aera or walk to the city centre in 15 minutes. From here you can take a short ferry trip to the Viking Ships Museum, the Folk Museum and the Kon Tiki Museum at Bygdøy. Or go swimming at Bygdøy’s popular beach Huk. Or you could go out to one of the islands for swimming or sightseeing. Many museums (Edvard Munch, Gustav Vigeland Park & Museum etc) and the beautiful new Opera is in the centre. Oslo has quite a hectic nightlife with bars, music clubs and restaurants to cater for any taste. And during the summer there is only a few hours of darkness. Temperatures in summer vary between 16 to 25 but can reach 30 degrees centigrades. During winter temperatures vary between minus 1 to minus 15 centigrades.
