Photos and Description of this 5 bedroom holiday home in Ireland - Bay House,Durrus, Bantry, Cork

5 bedrooms 3 bathrooms - sleeps ten + cot

Bay House, Durrus, Bantry, is located at the very head of Dunmanus Bay, with stunning and uninterrupted south facing views.

Durrus village sits at the head of the Mizen and Sheep's Heads peninsula - a great base for exploring West Cork & Ireland's Wild Atlantic Way.

It has five beautifully appointed bedrooms, consisting of three double bedrooms rooms looking out over the bay (each with a king-size bed), one has an en-suite bathroom with bath, power shower and WC. There are two twin bedrooms located at the rear of the house with two further bathrooms, each with a separate bath, a power shower and WC.

All bed linen is pure cotton. We also have a travel cot and a high chair.

The living area consists of a generous open plan living/dining/kitchen area with American style fridge/freezer, blu ray 5.1 surround sound, 46' LED flat screen TV, iPOD dock, leather sofas, dining table to seat 10 and log burner.

Wifi is free of charge and covers all areas of the house. Separate utility room with washing machine/tumble dryer and dishwasher. Sun porch (also doubles as children's playroom). All of the living and sleeping accommodation is on one level.

There is a large table with benches on the outside terrace. The house is spacious and very well equipped. .

In front of the house is almost an acre of lawn with direct access to a shingle/slate beach and sea waterfront - buckets and spades are provided for crab catching! .

Whether you are enjoying a break with family & friends in West Cork, a golfing trip (Bantry Bay Championship Golf Course is only 20 mins away), your cookery course at The Good Things Cafe, Durrus or a painting holiday with some of the most spectacular scenery on our doorstep, Bay House is the perfect place for you!

Fantastic Vacation Home!

  • 5 of 5

My big family just returned from a wonderful 2 weeks in Ireland, including a week at the Bay House in Durrus. We have stayed at many large houses over the past decade and we all agreed that the Bay House was the best. The house itself is top notch with great beds, linens, furnishing, kitchen items, beautiful hard wood floors, etc. But what makes it even more special is the setting- right on the bay, with a huge lawn running down to the water, and awesome views of the Mizen Head and Sheep's Head Peninsulas and, in the distance, the Beara Peninsula. Even though the weather could have been better, we could still enjoy the view from the family room with the large window looking out to the bay. From the Bay House we took day trips to the Mizen Head Lighthouse, BarleyCove Beach, and Crookhaven, Killarney National Park, and Kinsale. Debbie and Chris were great hosts and will provide you all the information you need and will also leave you be if that is what you want. We highly recommend the Bay House on the Wild Atlantic Way in Southwest Cork!

Even in bad weather, this place is a gem!

  • 5 of 5

I booked Bay House for my partner's 60th birthday in November and it lived up to all expectations! Whilst the weather was not great, the house remained warm and welcoming and when the sun did come out, we all felt we were in a small, peaceful slice of heaven! Debbie and Chris's attention to detail is wonderful and we fully intend to book this house again in the future. Highly recommended!

Spectacular property and setting,

  • 5 of 5

This is an amazing property and location which I would encourage anyone to visit. Debbie and Chris are very hospitable and welcoming and helpful. The house is a very high spec throughout and every need catered for. The setting is private and secluded, and the views beautiful such that you could spend a lot of time just at the house. Just up the road you have the lovely wee village of Durrus (4 pubs I think) and a mere 4km further there is Bantry to stock on supplies and sample the local seafood. Excellent place, perfect for a relaxing break. many thanks folks, Gerry and Pam and all the rest of the large family. we all loved it.

A perfect piece of Ireland

  • 5 of 5

Bay House is stunning, luxurious, peaceful and the perfect base from which to experience this beautiful part of Ireland.

Nine of us (6 adults and 3 kids) spent an amazing week at Bay House.

The accommodation is top quality. Spacious, stylish, cosy, comfortable, practical...it has the lot. The kids just loved playing outside on the HUGE front lawn that ends at a shingle and pebble beach which is just perfect for crabbing!

There is also a wooded play area at the rear for the kids to explore and enjoy.

The local pubs in Durrus are great with the Long Boat being our personal favourite.

If you want to visit rural Cork then Bay House is perfect. We'll be back.

Stunning views, welcoming house

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful 2 week stay in Bay house; the view is amazing, what an incredible location. The beds are comfy, there is plenty of living space, and our kids loved all the toys.

We had some lovely walks along the rocky beach and found the location excellent as we wanted to be able to get to Schull and Ballyrisarde easily as well as get into Bantry.

The house was very clean and well looked after and Debbie and her family were very good hosts.

Thanks for a wonderful holiday!

The perfect house on the perfect spot

  • 5 of 5

This beautifully decorated house has everything that our party of 10 adults could wish for.

Plenty of space for all of us, well equipped kitchen, great beds and indeed, those stunning views! We toured the nearby peninsulas, visited pretty towns, stately homes, gardens and stone circles. We also did some nice walks and birdwatching. Everyday on our return in the house, we felt very much at home here, it is worth every star of its rating.

Bay House is a superb waterfront property, in a truly spectacular and private setting. We consider our location and stunning views to be some of the finest in West Cork. Set in 1.7 Acres and approached by a half-mile quiet country lane, Bay House and gardens overlook Dunmanus Bay. The views reach for over twenty miles, out into the Atlantic, over the Sheeps Head and Mizen peninsula and with a backdrop of the Beara peninsula. Stone steps from the garden sea wall lead straight onto a slate/shingle beach. Many claim to be waterfront but we really are the real deal!

We are open all year round and offer 3-day breaks at off peak times.

The Mizen peninsula's sandy beaches, including Barley Cove’s beautiful Blue Flag beach, are just a short drive away and the Sheep's Head peninsula with the Goats Path is famous for having many miles of scenic and rugged walks.

The friendly and lively village of Durrus is only 1.5 km away (within walking distance), where there is a grocery shop, pubs, lovely restaurants and a Café. There is also a post office and a general hardware store that also sells fishing equipment. The historic waterside and market town of Bantry is approximately 8 kilometres away. Here you will find many more bars, restaurants and a larger supermarket, also offers online delivery (supervalu.ie).

The Mizen peninsula's sandy beaches, including Barley Cove’s beautiful Blue Flag beach, are just a short drive away and the Sheep's Head peninsula with the Goats Path is famous for having many miles of scenic and rugged walks.

Within easy reach are: Bantry House, Mizen Head Lighthouse, Glengariff Bamboo Park, Schull Planetarium, Ewe Sculpture Garden, Waterfall Alpaca Farm in Drimoleague, Cape Clear Island, Fastnet Rock & Garnish Island.

Other activities in the area include: fishing, boat trips, kayaking, horse riding, scuba diving, cinema, whale watching, swimming & Spa, walking/hill walking, beaches, golf, Bantry Bay Golf Course is an 18-hole championship course with some stunning scenery overlooking Bantry Bay. The local golf professional, Steve Cameron, has provided discounted rates on tuition, either at Bantry Bay Golf Course or Glengariff Golf Course, when staying at Bay House!
