The Old Grain Store is charming, and so are the hosts--the O'Brien family. We stayed with them for a week in this nifty self catering apartment that has all the conveniences of home. It is very comfortable, well equipped and located in the most charming place--the tiny town of St. Mullins. This is an historic building that has been lovingly renovated by the O'Briens with three added apartments. Located right on the Barrow River, a scenic magnet for hikers and fishermen, it even has the most wonderful (and only) restaurant in St. Mullins, the Mullichain Café. Hosted by the O'Brien's handsome son, Mark, the Mullichain has lovely lunches, homemade soups and the best brown bread in all of Ireland--made daily by Mark's mom, Emer. This entire operation is a family affair and it shows. Dad, Martin, was our accommodation's host, and frequently checked in with us to make sure that everything was perfect--and it was. On our last night in St. Mullins, Martin introduced us to the locals at Blanchfield's pub--a perfect ending to a perfect stay.

This is Ireland and Irish hospitality at it's very best!
