Unattached historic house connected to fenced in pool - peaceful view
About Heidi Parcher
The Parcher family consists of 4 young men and their parents. Three are out of the house. We have home schooled the boys and they are now enjoying their late teens and early twenties. They really enjoy working, so it's hard to catch them all home at the same time. Our oldest is a volunteer firefighter who is taking after his father who had volunteered for 15 years. Our only pet at this time is Torren our small pit bull.
Heidi Parcher purchased this Cottage in 2011
Why Heidi Parcher chose Coopersville
If you are looking for a quiet peaceful home to take a rest, this is the place! Enjoy some "down time" relaxing in our pool. We are 5 minutes away from Allendale and Coopersville. We are 15 minutes away from downtown Grand Rapids and 30 minutes from Grand Haven beach.
What makes this Cottage unique
This unique home qualifies as historic! Built in the 1830's, there are many stories this house could tell. The most profound piece of information is that the main house was built for a Methodist pastor and his family of Lamont. He would have parked his horse and carriage in the house you will be staying in and possibly have some servants living in the upper floor to help with the estate. Remember, this house has little dents and scratches because it is so old. We try to save our projects for the down time during the winter months. So, keep in mind you will be visiting a OLD house in the COUNTRY with country smells and country critters outside.

Awesome for our stay.... very quiet. Just what we were looking for.... nice homey atmosphere. I would recommend for a couple but not a large family. Nice view of the field and wildlife.
Just as the pictures show, cute little cottage with everything we needed. It was tucked away and quite but we close to things to do, and the best part my four legged son was allowed to join us!
Thanks for staying at the place for a couple days! You are great guests and we hope to see you again sometime!
First time renter not sure I would do it again
As this was the first time I had ever rented a property versus stayed in a hotel I wasn't quite sure what to expect.
The property owner was very sweet with her notes before our stay and giving us explicit instructions about the details of the stay. That being said, there were several hiccups. First we arrived at the property around 4 pm (check in was at 3pm). We got cleaned up and rested a little before we went to dinner and a show that night. The property is quite charming but we noticed a few odd things like bagged garbage sitting out, used towels in the bathroom and partially eaten food in the fridge. After being at the property for a few hours we left for the evening. Around 8:00 pm we received an email from the owner saying that they were away for the day and totally had forgotten about us coming. They did not get a chance to clean up and wanted to get into the property to clean up and do laundry. This kind of grossed us out as we already used the bathroom and laid on the bed. We also didn't like the fact that someone was now going to be in our space without us there and all our personal belongings present. However, they politely asked us to be understanding, so we were.
In the morning we went to shower and could find no soap or hair dryer. Normally at a hotel I would have just called down to the front desk but at 7:00 am I did not feel comfortable waking up a homeowner so we made due.
We decided to leave a day early. I reached out to the property owner in the morning to let them know. I also asked if they would consider a partial refund. I thought that we had been understanding of the situation with the property not being cleaned and I thought they would be understanding in turn. While I understand the refund policy is strict, I was not asking for a full refund, just some consideration or slight adjustment would have been nice and I believe the appropriate thing to do in this situation. The property owner did not feel this way though. I feel like that in a hotel I would have received that consideration. Based on this experience I think we will go back to hotels. I feel like you have more recourse should something go wrong at a hotel. I do want to say that the property is lovely though and the carriage house is very charming. Just be aware of all the positives and negatives to renting a property, versus staying in a hotel.
Thank you very much for your comments. Again, we apologize for our oversight and we will always try to improve our service and quality. We normally don't supply shower gel but there is a limited supply of toiletry soaps and lotions to pick from on a shelf in the bathroom. Someone may have packed up the hair dryer thinking that it was theirs during their last stay with us but we have replaced it as of today. Again, thank you for your patience with us as we strive to make each stay as welcoming as we can.

Great place to Stay!!
This time came with the family and we had an amazing time! Love that we can bring our dogs (since one has cancer and won't be around long it's nice that they can enjoy a weekend trip with us) Truly a great place to stay with everything you need.
Perfect little cottage
We stayed on night for a family event in Allendale. The location was perfect for us and was perfect place to bring our elderly dog.
