Why Shona Blake chose Cornwall

We chose the cottage because we fell in love with the view! When we drove in at the top of the drive we said to one another that the cottage was going to have to be falling down for us to not want to buy with a view like that.

What makes this cottage unique

The cottage has to have one of the best views in Cornwall. Even the very expensive houses in Carlyon Bay don't have as good a view of St Austell Bay. Now that our boys are growing up and playing golf, the benefit of having a golf course on our doorstep is huge, and the course is great. It's effectively both a parkland and links course, with 9 holes of each!

Well appointed, easy to use, comfortable beds and a gorgeous view!

  • 5 of 5

This is a lovely cottage in a beautiful location. We enjoyed kayaking, walking and exploring further around the Cornish coast. It is not far from the shops if needed, nor main routes further west or east. Saying that you definitely feel like you are away from the ratrace.

Perfect location to explore Cornwall

  • 4 of 5

An impressive view and so quiet and peaceful. When the weather is good it is nice to sit outside and gaze at the sea. Even when the weather is not so good it is nice to sit inside and gaze at the sea! The cottage is the perfect size for two on holiday with all the home comforts. However, we did experience a few problems:- There was a major ant problem around the patio doors and a few in the kitchen which we hoovered up for a few days, the property description said that towels were included but there were none, so we had to buy some, and we couldn't find the heating thermostat so we were cold. Apart from that it was the perfect location for exploring. We visited the Eden Project, Lost Gardens of Heligan, St. Michael's Mount, Lands End, Port Isaac, Fowey to name a few.

I would recommend this property and once the problems have been solved it will be idyllic.

Owner's Response: I'm very sorry that you encountered problems with our cottage. It's a pity that you did not use any of the available contacts as all of these problems could have been solved while you were there to stop them spoiling your enjoyment of our cottage. We hope that you did enjoy Cornwall.

blissful and oh what a view!

  • 5 of 5

The cottage was lovely, clean exceptionally well equipped and comfortable. The owners had done all they could to make everything as straightforward as possible - instruction manuals for every piece of household equipment, folders with info, maps of the surrounding area, wifi provided etc. The position and views were wonderful and we had all our meals outside overlooking the sea - bliss (we were very fortunate with the weather). Having never been to Cornwall before, we were not sure what to expect but were blown away by the beauty of the coastline and surrounding countryside. The cottage is about 5 mins drive from St Austell which had a number of large supermarkets. Porthpean beach was quiet, clean and a lovely safe beach for families with small (and not so small) children. However this beach may be unsuitable for elderly or infirm as although it takes less than 10 minutes to walk from the cottage, it is an incredibly steep walk down and perhaps more importantly back up! We do not play golf, but if you did, I think you would be delighted with the position of the cottage. Using the cottage as our base we visited Newquay beach, Lost gardens of Helligan (Wonderful - do go) and the outstanding Eden project. A most wonderful break.

Great place with a stunning view

  • 5 of 5

We had a most enjoying holiday in this very well kept house, spotless clean with good facilities. The rooms were spacious, beds, linen and mattresses very comfortable.

We enjoyed the near-by coast path and a small sandy beach in walking distance. Very quiet and nice to watch the sea or the golfers.

We'd definitely come again if we went to Cornwall another time.
