Modern 4 bedroom Cottage with all`mod Cons` in quiet scenic location

`Fernbank` is a modern split level cottage with open plan living and dining areas ideal for a relaxing`away from it all` break. The house offers spectacular views across Loch Linnhe which can be enjoyed from the lounge area or breakfasting conservatory. A fully equiped kitchen enables you to prepare local produce to be enjoyed in the open plan dining area which also has views of the loch. If you prefer to eat out, then the excellent Holly Tree restaurant and bar is a short stroll away. Two spacious double bedrooms (one en-suite) and two twin bedrooms sleep up to 8 adults. In addition there is a family bathroom and separate toilet

The house enjoys comfortable underfloor heating in the ground floor areas and radiator heating in the bedrooms, ensuring a warm cosy stay whatever the weather. TV and Stereo CD system are provided for your entertainment.

Washing machine and tumble drier are provided. The house has its own garden with wooded areas to the rear and sloping lawn to the front.

Fernbank - Kentallen

The property is well positioned giving good driving access to the many and varied attractions in this part of the world. The property is clean, well-appointed, spacious and well-maintained. Alan, the owner, was waiting to greet us, on arrival and he gave us a brief overview of the property before leaving us alone for the rest of our stay.

If you are looking for a good base to explore anywhere from Oban to Mallaig, from Fort Augustus to Glencoe, Fernbank is the ideal choice.

Spacious & comfortable house in a wonderful location, perfect base to explore the Highlands

Fernbank cottage has everything that you need to great holiday within easy reach of Glencoe and the surrounding highlands. It has a large sitting room, an open plan functional kitchen & dining area and a brilliant conservatory in which to sit in and have your breakfast or evening meal whilst looking out over Loch Linnhe and mountains. The cottage has 4 comfortable bedrooms, 2 bathrooms with powerful showers and a downstairs loo. The ground floor is built on several levels with a couple steps to negotiate but this didn't cause us any problems and added to the character of the place. The drive is quite steep but caused us no problems and the garage is great for storing bikes, etc.

When we weren't eating in the cottage we ate in the Holly Tree Inn a couple of times as it is only a 5 minute walk down the road, the 1st evening meal was great but the 2nd was disappointing due to poor quality food and waiting on service. We much preferred The Creagan Inn, a 20 minute drive away towards Oban.

During our stay we climbed Ben Nevis, walked to the Lost Valley in Glencoe, went to Ardnamurchan Point (the furthest point West on mainland Scotland), found the incredible Plodda waterfall and forest walks and visited the usual hotspots such as Fort William, Fort Augustus and Oban. Another great day out was to the Applecross Inn(via the Applecross pass) where we enjoyed fabulous fish & chips. We also made use of cycle route 78, which runs alongside Loch Linnhe and we spent a pleasant afternoon cycling a circular route around Loch Leven and back to the cottage.

Overall a fantastic holiday and we look forward to coming back in the near future.

Perfect!!!!

This property is not to be missed. Perfect location, perfect host and perfect house. Elevated and overlooking loch and mountains its relaxing but within minutes drive to villages of Glencoe and Ballachullish for groceries and eateries. Holly tree hotel and restaurant a minute across the road serves delicious meals.There are several easy walks from the house and the Glencoe mountain resort is just 20 minutes drive. We had great snow which pleased our snowboarding menfolk. The house has a great layout giving loads of space. The dining table actually seats 8 with ease(we have stayed in other properties which sleep more but only provide seating for 6).A big conservatory provides extra dining table..lovely for a quiet morning coffee taking in the spectacular view.Big comfy couches and armchair in lounge. Lots of crockery and cutlery etc if you want to eat in.We pre ordered a delivery from Tesco which was handy but there is a co-op in Ballachulish too.I cant say enough about this house and love it.Thanks to Alan,Pat and Sally.

Fantastic house, great area!

We rented Fernbank Cottage with four adults and we had a wonderful stay. The house had everything we needed (well, except for the towels - but we knew in advance we had to bring our own). It was spotless clean on arrival and some sweets were waiting for us - nice surprise.

There is plenty of room and we used to spend most evenings sitting at the large table, writing postcards, playing games, chatting, etc.

The sofas are a bit worn out but as said, we didn't use them much anyway.

The view from the house is fantastic. You can see the Loch Linnhe from almost every room and we took lots of photos of it in the morning, at sunset, with the morning clouds...

You can also sit in the garden, but as there were still a few midges out there we didn't make use of it.

Fort William is within easy reach if you need to shop and there is so much to do and see that the week we spent at Fernbank Cottage just flew by. To mention just a view: Oban, Fort William, Isle of Skye, Mallaig, Glencoe, Eilean Donan Castle, Glenfinnan, Castle Stalker, etc. We were lucky enough to see dolphins and even an eagle during our stay.

The booking process was also very easy and should we ever plan another holiday on Scotland's beautiful west coast, we would love to rent the cottage again!!!
