About Steve Collier

My name is Steve. I have lived here on plum island for 23 fantastic years. Plum island is an enchanting place with a very special feel to it. I came here in 1992 and never left! You won't want to leave either.

Steve Collier purchased this cottage in 1998

Why Steve Collier chose Plum Island

This is one of the increasingly scarce old plum island cottages left. It has been updated with a new & modern interior. The house has a real beachy feel to it. The neighborhood as quiet and tranquil as can be. Very Relaxing.

What makes this cottage unique

It has a unique wooded setting that is like no other here on Plum Island. This location is extremely quiet and tranquil as it located at the end of a dead end street against the Basin. Lots of interesting birds due to the amount of trees around the property. Quick access to some stunning beaches. Awesome Paddle Boarding or Kayaking property, just steps to the Tidal Basin, or venture back to the Great Marsh!

Sweet alternative to a hotel

  • 4 of 5

Steve was great, friendly, responsive and lives right next door.

This cottage, in a quiet residential lane, is steps to the Merrimack River and about a mile away from the ocean. Also a short drive to downtown Newburyport, which has lots of shops, restaurants and cafes.

The cottage is neat and clean with a nice little galley kitchen. Was able to heat some food we brought and store things in the large refrigerator. Big enough for 2 and with the pullout couch in living room fine for 4 people. A little cramped though.

A mirror in the bedroom would make a nice upgrade to the experience :)

Great little house

  • 5 of 5

Perfect location to visit the beautiful Parker River preserve and equally beautiful town of Newburyport. The house is very comfortable and clean, has everything you need and the owner is accessible, friendly and helpful. If/when we return to this area we would definitely hope to stay here again.

A LITTLE JEWEL!

  • 5 of 5

I Loved this Place! I went alone on vacation and was in and out all day. It has an ocean view, large kitchen, beautiful bathroom washer and dryer all new and tastefully done. There enough parking and It can sleep 4 people comfortably. Why stay in a hotel or motel when you have what amounts to a large suite waiting by the water? I would love to stay again! Oh and the owner and neighbors are super nice people!

Just loved it, Great place, great host

  • 5 of 5

I was returning to PI for the first time in 6 years from Kauai, HI. This place rocks and is a mega-bargin with a gracious and accomedating, wonderful host. If you've never been to PI, GO!! You can pay a ton of bucks to be on the ocean or pick this place. As a 25 year resident prior to moving off Island [to another] I understand the complusion to want to be on the ocean. Here, you've got a 20 second walk to the basin, changes in the tide there 2X a day are amazing .... but to be able to count, 100% on your host, is such a better choice. Loved the "extras" [coffee for the coffee pot, etc. saved time and made me feel "welcome" like a friend would welcome you. Steve, who lives right next door, responded BEFORE I got there to a couple requests I had, texted to help make things easier and wore a smile of gratitude

The place itself is so perfect for a romantic get-away or alone-ness [that was my trip, very cool] ... IMMACULATE...everything is "new" yet it still feels sooooo "Plum Island" ... I love the Adirondak chairs on the deck overlooking the basin. Quiet street, dead end, perfect. Wifi is STRONG, all modern applicances and CLEAN-CLEAN-CLEAN.

If you are after a great experience, want to relax and can use the best the Island has to offer, this is a great place and fantastic bargin. The best the Island has to offer? There is a 7+ mile refuge...and it has 7 stations [places to park].... after the first one, each station accomedates only about 15 cars....they are about a mile apart.... so if you are planning a summer visit, skip the beach on the nothern tip [2 miles of houses], pack a lunch and hit the refuge.... go a few miles in and you'll have a private beach, dunes and get the real feel of the Island...both in the refuge and when you teturn to Steve's awesome place. Alone or as a couple, this is a GREAT place.

Comfortable and up-to-date cottage

  • 4 of 5

This cute cottage, while it may need a little work on the outside, is completely modernized and welcoming on the inside. The kitchen has everything you could need, the bed is extremely comfortable, and if you need a washer/dryer or an audio-visual center, it's got those too. Also, a nice deck with a view (through a couple of bushes) of the salt marsh and the water. Steve is very nice and helpful. I had a wonderful stay -- Plum Island is lovely in the fall! And a short drive away there's a great restaurant (Plum Island Grille) and then the Parker River National Wildlife Refuge. Or go into Newburyport for the great shopping and fabulous historic architecture. This clean, attractive cottage is the perfect spot for a solo traveler or a couple.
