cd45 has been enjoyed by the owner and her family for many years. It's furnished with lots of thoughtful details, and what it lacks in rural views it makes up for in comfort and convenience. Situated on a wide side street in the centre of Castle Douglas, it provides ample space for a family or a small group of friends, yet is not too large for a couple to feel at home. Castle Douglas has a very good selection of independent shops and is Galloway's Food Town. The town is at the heart of beautiful unspoilt Galloway with lots to discover and enjoy. We're in the VisitScotland walkers' and cyclists' welcome schemes, and you'll find that cd45 is an ideal base from which to explore.
Conveniently situated, with 3 bedrooms
My parents bought this property when I was a girl and we lived next door. Once two flats, it's been a loved home and holiday house now for many years.
Owner purchased this House in 1957
Why Owner chose Castle Douglas
We love this area - it was where I spent my childhood years. What we like about cd45 is that it's in the town. We can do the shopping, eat out, visit the local theatre, walk to the park, all within moments. Jump in the car and in less than 5 minutes you are out in the countryside and off to the beach, or a castle, or to see the wildlife, or visit an adventure park, or.... the possibilities are limitless!
What makes this House unique
The house is painted pink outside. My mum chose the colour years ago and we've kept with it. You'll find many colourful houses in the Stewartry of Kirkcudbright! Inside, we've kept it simple. We used a local joiner to create the galley kitchen, we try to ensure you'll find everything you need, and the rooms are restful and unfussy (so you don't have to worry if you're visiting with children!). We like to have Scottish things - so we have Harris Tweed chairs and sofa, and paintings by local artists on the walls. We enjoy cycling, walking and canoeing and we've made the cloakroom into a wee drying room, with heater and dehumidifier. Visiting kayakers said it was the best they'd used! The secure cycle store easily takes a couple of bikes.

A clean, comfortable, characterful house in a peaceful place.
This house was a lovely base for our family for a week exploring Dumfries and Galloway. It was very clean but also felt homely and comfortable. Everything was very easy in terms of getting there and getting in etc. Our children were captivated by the photos of the owner's children and the books and games which presumably belonged to them at one time. We all enjoyed our time in the house.
Thank you for the lovely comments. We are so glad you enjoyed your time in our house and in Dumfries and Galloway. We keep coming back and hope you will too!
